I'm not a big fan of having to scan planets for minerals. I think it's very tedious and takes away from the game. Is there a way to get minerals without having to scan?

You're not going to like the new DLC coming out then.

EA
has revealed the next significant paid add-on for Mass Effect 2. It's
called Planet Fall Syndrome and will be available in June for 560 Microsoft Points
(£4.80/€6.70).

Planet Fall Syndrome presents a storied mission based on over 100 new planets, according to IncGamers. The new Hammerhead tank will stay parked in the cargo hold. There are no new weapons and no new characters, just the story of running low on minerals and scanning the 100's of new planets.

The content will apparently last around 100 hours.

But yes you can essentially cheat the game with a program called Gibbed Mass Effect 2 Save Editor. It basically allows you to modify a save game file and you can do things like add credits, medigels, and of course minerals. I like to start out with 1 million credits and 800k of each mineral, that's plenty to get all the upgrades and you won't have to hack and bypass wallsafes. Woot!

Here's a great link that will help...

The program is there and also a tutorial. I assumed you were on a PC, hope so, because I don't think you can easily cheat the console versions.

Scanning is ME2. You might want to ask that in the ME2 forum.
