Hey guys,

I've been involved in making a Star Trek RPG shooter game which has recently become standalone. The game takes place after all of the movies (ignores STXI) where you get to play a non-linear game from the perspective of a Starfleet Captain. The mod is currently headed by a guy named Griffin Endurance who has been working for about a year on this project.

I'm posting this here because I think that there might be some people here who want to help, or just follow the project. We wlecome any and all to sign up at

Looks like you've got some nice work done there. What sort of things do you need done? I have some skills in that area.

Good decision on ignoring Star Trek XI. That movie sucked even by Star Trek movie standards.

Yes, this is based on the Raven game.

In terms of what we need, we need mappers, texturers, (graphic artists) and coders who know C++ (though additional knowledge of C would be even better)

Oh, well mapping and texturing happen to be the aspects of modeling I'm not any good at, but best of luck anyhow.

Well, there will be a great need for voice actors somewhere down the road. Also, good editors for the dialogue are needed; Griffin can write a good story but sometimes the dialogue needs to be refined. :D

Even if you can't lend us any help now, you can still follow the project by signing up at our site and posting on our forums :)

I say, that is most impressive. Especially the screenie with vegetation, that's downright amazing, considering the engine you're working with.

Griffin is pushing the engine to the limit. You should check out the ship flight video.

Me too. I'm quite impressed. I'm not at all familiar with this Raven? engine?

Curious, if/when this is released will it be a mod to an existing game (like you'll need to own it in order to play) or will this be a standalone that functions on its own?

1: The engine is idtech3, the same engine used in Quake3, and Star Wars Jedi Outcast and Academy

2: The game it's based on is Star Trek Voyager: Elite force. You can get it for < $10 on Amazon or eBay. Unfortunately the mod cannot be standalone as Raven will not release the .exe source code to us.

Star Trek: Freelance may become a standalone mod! This means that many more people can experience it when it is done!

Now more than ever we could use YOUR help to make this great mod a reality.

Introducing the Design A Ship contest. Directly affect the development of the game by suggesting/designing a ship class that can be chosen as the player's ship from the beginning of the game!
