That is, regardless of which year it'll actually be released, it'll be the best of the year.

Call of Duty Black Ops is coming out later this year. That'll win. Unfortunately.
So true. So sadly true.

I doubt we'll see any new GotY worthy titles at E3.

I don't know... an awful lot of the gaming press
seem to really adore Bayonetta.

Mass Effect 2 deserves it though.

It's not like Red Dead Redemption is revolutionary either. Grand Theft Auto with horses, wow what a novel concept.
I wouldn't call Red Dead Redemption Grand Theft Auto wth horses. There are similar gameplay elements there such as the auto aim, the long horse rides to missions, and other small, but harder to define things.
It's more of a GTA 4 than any other GTA, which is to say it takes itself serious and actually has characters, a story, and emotion. These are general things. Red Dead doesn't put a huge focus on crime, it has a much more free roaming feel than you get from GTA4, and it lacks the over-top feel of the GTA series.
Anyone who plays Red Dead Redemption and played the Grand Theft Auto series should come out recognizing that the games are distinctly separate. Similarities? Yes. But the same? Absolutely not.

I don't know about every game out there, but I think either Red Dead or ME2 deserves it so far. Red Dead may win it simply because it's the first truly great western game, while Mass Effect is simply a sequel and not particularly revolutionary. Just a fantastic game.
Call of Duty doesn't deserve to win ****.

I might check out Red Dead if it comes to the PC.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 will probably win at least Gamespot and IGN's GOTY.
Other games I think that will be nominated are Mass Effect 2, God Of War III, Starcraft II, Deus Ex 3(if it's released this year), and probably that Call of Duty game since Activision likely bribes publications.

Do you all just have some personal vendetta against anything Call of Duty or did you actually play World at War and thought it was poorly done?
Personally, I think if Black Ops is as well done as World at War then it deserves to win GOTR.

Ok, I can understand all the Infinity Ward hate. I can understand why people have issues with MW2. But why do you all immediately dump on Call of Duty when it's Treyarch that's making this new one? I personally thought COD: World at War was a fantastic game. In fact, I would argue that the zombie survival maps as a side bonus are better than Left for Dead as a whole game. Just my opinion though of course.

I thought World at War was/is a good game, and I would say its way better than MW2.
But at some point you realize CoD and MW are way more popular than they should be, and that popularity turns into awards they don't deserves. MW2 isn't a great game, lets be honest with ourselves. Is it a good game? Yes. A great game? Hell no. CoD4 was much, much better, but even it's slightly overrated (Although all within tolerable limits).
I feel like CoD has gotten to this point where whatever **** they put out, people will buy and they'll win awards for it. Their 15 dollar map pack is a good example. Who buys a 15 dollar map pack for Christ's sake?

Honestly, I haven't played Red Dead Redemption. Everything I have heard is that it's like GTA 4 which I thought was a boring, repetitive, mess of a game with awful controls and the illusion of open-end gameplay(the city in the game was just a hub to prod out the game's length with pointless minigames and dating sims).
I might check out Red Dead if it comes to the PC.
if you go into RDR expecting Grand theft horse you'll be surprised, once you get past the basics structure and gameplay you won't see many similarities, they are completely different games
