The following lists threads written by fellow posters with their suggestions on how to build various classes and strategies that can be used in playing Mass Effect. There are many different ways to play a class: one poster may concentrate on a very aggressive build while another recommends one that is more defensive. Being creative with your playstyle is always encouraged, particularly if you make a video of it and put it out there for others to mock enjoy. Most of all, have fun with your game.

I would link threads about classes rather than threads put up by an individual saying one way is the best way (even if it is a really good thread... adepting through insanity is great).

But thats not just one individuals superlative praise of a class; queries by forumgoers and answers are found in those threads.

There are two quality Vanguard guide threads, the one you already have from Thisisme and Sabresandiego's.

Thisisme also has a good non-class specific combat blog guide called Controlling the Battlefield.

Updated the original post with a better description and the new links. Tried to stress that these were just attempts by other posters to be helpful with their strategy guides and not creating some end-all method of gameplay. And I know there are even more guides out there, so keep providing links!

So far, the moderators don't see much need to sticky the thread because, well, I asked them to do it immediately upon the creation of the thread without giving it time to see if the list was truly necessary.

You might consider linking some groups as well.

I'm debating whether or not to link groups. Some of them aren't very active. Plus, I was thinking it should be a list that makes navigating the forum specifically easier. Groups are kinda their own entity on the social network.

I think there are enough people regularly posting with links to the groups in their sigs to not necessitate including them here.

And there is also the group tab right at the top of the page; the threads that have been swept away are more important, especially with this horrible Search function this site has.

Added a couple more links. Sabresandiego's post about medikits isn't really much of a guide, but it seemed important enough as a gameplay tip. Also added senojones's infiltrator guide, which provides information for the more "traditional" sniper infiltrator.

Should I include links for modding the game on the PC and XBox 360? I've seen those posts on the other ME forums here, so it's not really part of organizing the strategy threads found on this forum. However, modding the game seems a type of strategy. Revenants for everyone!

Once I've found all the guides I'm able to find on this forum, won't really have any reason to keep updating this thread. Then it'll fall by the wayside like all the other gameplay discussions.

Please message a mod to ask them to sticky it! I asked Woo, but that was right after I had created the thread, and he didn't think at the time that it qualified for stickydom. I'd ask Priestly, but his forum status kind of reads as AFK for the next several weeks. Oh wait, maybe I should ask Christina Norman. She'd have all the strategy forum posters' backs.

IF you don't like the complaints stop reading the treads complaining about it.  Isn't that what you preach about the "Oh, I love XXXXX forever, BFF!!! !LOL!!!! ILUVU" threads??

You know just scroll down!!

Erm.... okay.
Im just saying isn't it possible that you are taking the migration a little TOO seriously... I mean come on! Its not like the move is completely RUINING your life. All it is is the mods decided through their mysitical methods of process to move the threads over here, and all some of you do is B*TCH about it. If this makes the "strategy" threads more accessible than fine, I'm cool with it..., so now that you have a thread to easily access the strategy threads, there is NO reason at all to complain about it. Plus, it really isn't that big of a goddamn deal is it?

You should do a couple more searches for the threads about classes. I've noticed that three classes only have one each (and they are all by the same person). To get sticked you'll probably need a lot more variety.

The forum really followed a pattern of creating more topics about specific aspects of a class or strategy. For instance, a topic comparing a soldier's adrenaline rush versus an infiltrator's sniper slowdown. A discussion about picking assault rifles, shotguns, or sniper rifles as a bonus weapon. Or discussing the various methods people used to fight the Colossus.

Topics much broader in scope, which would be the guides, are few and far between. That's why I ask for people to provide links if they know of more. I'm searching the forum, but it's a slow process.

I suspect I'm fighting a losing battle anyway.

This forum hasn't had any real guides in it for the last two months.  It has mostly been debates about weapons and bonus powers as well as a "hey watch this" link to videos here and there.

But if you insist on showing up in any thread that mentions the forum and complaining about it, that gets harder and harder. Nobody charges in to an Engineer thread to gush over Tali because someone said "Combat Drone". Stop spraying bile at every opportunity, we get it, you don't agree with the moderator decision. Stick it in your sig and get on with your life.

Good idea
Mod - please sticky.

Worth adding to the list suggestions on how to make the game more challenging in insanity, e.g.
1 - Cruc1al posted some soloing insanity vids but I couldnt find an associated how to.

2 - I started a thread asking for challenging build & tactics ideas and there were some good ones in the thread.

That's the problem with comprehensive lists, you have to decide just how comprehensive you want to be with it. I'm not even sure where to draw the line.

I think I'll pass on linking to Cruc1al's videos on the original post. They're great fun to watch, but the thread itself isn't really a discussion of various strategies. And if I linked to one person's videos, might as well start linking to everyone's videos. Perhaps that's a list for someone else to make: Comprehensive List of Gameplay Videos.

Not sure on the second link either. It's a good discussion, maybe one to bump to see if anyone else has crazy ideas on how to make playthroughs more interesting. But there are a lot of really great discussions out there, and I can't link to them all. Then I'd be linking to one about adrenaline rush versus time dilation or whether or not reave is the perfect bonus power.
