I've got a question here whose answer I couldn't find yet, so I hope my fellow forumites can help.

What I am wondering about is the ammo-damage check:

For example Disruptor Ammo deals bunos damage against Synthetics. But does it also deal this bonus-damage if they have armor on? When does the target-check for the ammo-damage calculation kicks in?

Does Disruptor Ammo only deals extra damage if they have shields on or no defense anymore? After all, they are still synthetics.

Same with Shredder Ammo. It says it deals extra damage against organics. So does it only deal this damage boost if their defenses are down?

This would help greatly to finally know once and for sure.

disruptor ammo doesn't do any extra damage to armored targets even if they are synthetic. The same applies for shredder ammo and it only works when all defenses are down for organic targets.

Thanks for the info. What a shame though. This makes Shredder Ammo pretty much useless on higher difficulties. If you got their defenses down, they would be dead quite soon after anyway. No real use for Shredder Ammo.



Maybe one should patch this and add the ability to pierce through biotic barriers more effectively, since only Warp Ammo deals extra damage against those barriers.



Might be worth a try.

I think the ammo system needs to be overhauled altogether in ME3.

There really is no love for shredder ammo around these parts, particularly since so many strategy players concentrate on Hardcore and Insanity difficulty. It was made worse back when squadmates kept trying to override their ammo power over another's, but they fixed that now. However, to change shredder ammo to pierce biotic barriers basically makes it a gimped warp ammo which does damage to health, armor, and barriers.

As for disruptor ammo, you don't get the damage bonus on a synthetic so long as its armor is up, but once the armor is stripped, you do get the damage bonus against its health.

speaking of disruptor ammo, does anyone else but me find it incredibly annoying when you shoot a synthetic with the ammo and they get knocked down like you had sledgehammer rounds? completely throws off my aim and wastes my ammo.

Huh, I've never developed disruptor ammo beyond level 2. I guess that's the disabling component from the higher levels.

The only time I'm particularly irate about wasted ammo is when one of the other snipers on my team shoot for the same target. If only I could call my shot so that they could aim for someone else and not have me waste perfectly good but limited supply of ammo.
