True and with this been the end of the Shepard trilogy anything that takes from the single player game could be the difference between having the finish ME deserves and fizziling out.

I think they should not deviate from what we have now, i can see the coop working, look at Splinter Cell Conviction its great in coop mode, maybe with a coop mode we can get better equipment too like new weapons and personal armors.

Although coop has its drawback too, finding a team that plays with you without quitting or being asses or just the fact of difficulty finding someone to play without waiting an eternity.

And damn short in singleplayer. Singleplayer suffered, so they could add co-op.

I dont doubt that Bioware could make a great MP game but if they were to add MP to ME3 it would require changes that would make the gameplay differ to much from ME1 and ME2.

I wouldn't mind some co-op, but I also feel it isn't necessary. I'd rather they put all focus on producing a great single player experience. Don't waste resources on unnecessary things, Bioware!

Single player games like that generally don't have long campaigns, regardless of the existence of any sort of MP mode. I don't see why they should, either. You really think they could drag a story like Conviction's or MW2's out longer than they already did?

The other SC games had reasonably sized single players.

I would be very much FOR ME Multiplayer, just not tied together with the current storyline. Hell, it would be sorta cool for them to pivot against their 'accepted' end to the ME trilogy, and depending on how ME3 plans on leaving the universe, could open up stories galore with Single player and Multiplayer entities.

What you need to do, though, is make sure to have a seamless integration between the Single player and Multiplayer aspects of the game which will not collide, hopefully bringing the RPG and FPS fans together. I am a huge fan of both FPS and RPG and would love to see the Mass Effect Universe be brought to a multiplayer...just not hastily, and with lots and lots of testing.

Just thinking about it, the storyline in ME and ME2 show you so many different aspects of the ME Universe from the Blue Suns, to the Krogan Clans, to the Authorities at the Citadel and other worlds...even through in the Migrate Fleet from the Quarians and you have yourself a base for a Multiplayer element. I have no doubt that the people at BioWare, making every choice of the Universe effect those around them would not let an opportunity as bringing ME Universe to the Multiplayer slip by to simply make a Call of Duty Imposter, a DOOM comparison, or even something to try and topple Quake or Unreal Tourney.

They will do as they have always done in their genre of games...make their own impression on how it should be, and I hope to see that impression make its mark.

I wouldn't mind mulitiplayer, as long as it does not take away from the single player campaign. It might be a lot of fun, but I don't see how a million different "Shepards" could be running around, so it couldn't be continuous with the single player game.

multiplayer doesn't cause your game to go for sale 3 months after release.

this is a business move.

As long as the single player campaign is great, then I wouldn't mind MP. It would be cool to see two classes work together though. For example, you have the soldier sniping off armor and shields of enemies while the vanguard charges in and finishes them off with the shotgun.

if they were planning to make a co-op mode they should probably make it a dlc and give the players a chance to get it that way. I dont want Bioware to deviate from the game and make it any less awesome.

I can see co-op working in the campaign, but I'd rather have a "Horde" style DLC. A new incarnation of pinnacle station from ME1 perhaps? Only, ya know, not crappy.

Honestly, co-op is the only multiplayer I'd like Mass Effect to take. And even then, I'd prefer it to exist in another type of game (not in the trilogy).

Someone posted an interesting idea where three people play as a squad mate (Samara, Tali, etc.) and do some co-op. Frankly, I'd like that to happen sometime.

I think this is probably the best suggestion I've heard thus far. I mean, let's face it, playing as two commander Shepards would be broken as hell. Playing as a squadmate could be really fun- albeit if you get the chance to temporarily give the character you're playing as a Retrain Points package or something so you're not stuck with someones' substandard build.

Well considering both my brothers enjoy the game I dont see any harm in playing a Co-Op/3player squad ME3 so long as I call the shots.

I am not a fan of a MP option, but we have to admit they have the setup for an MP experience with something separate to the main story. There is enough factions, weapons and concepts there.

I won't say it's not a good idea to make something alongside ME3. As most others have said, as long as it doesn't take resources from making ME3, it can work. Red Dead Redemption kind of proved the two experiences can use the same gameplay/gamespace but not affect the primary experience of the Single Player.

Having a few interesting team battles may actually expand the universe a little. Blue Suns versus Eclipse, Krogan versus Rachni (a Horde Mode). Base defence and Territory Capture and they could use a Halo model and include Vehicles in the maps.

As for Co-Op, if it's like a sub story where its a strike team on a few side missions, on a separate story path I would be interested. They could use characters from ME1 and 2 that are not on Sheps ME3 team. We get to see them doing something to help Shepard without actually being on the crew. Co-Op in the main game??...NO! This is not HALO or Gears of War and they don't have the mechanics for a Fable II style experience either.

A ME MMO might be a good idea down the road.

Maybe waaay down the road, but do you really think Bioware is going to have two competing MMOs in the sci-fi genre operating at the same time? It would be a suicide mission.

Most likely, they're adding a co-op component of some kind, either as DLC or as part of ME3.

Doesn't adding co-op essential forces the game to be played entirely in real time? If that's the case, why not just go play an fps, since there won't be any rpg left by then.

I'd love a multiplayer, if you don't want it, just don't play MP, simple. I want more of this game and replaying the story just get pointless. I'm just wringing out any variable that gives an excuse to replay. MP will extend the life of the game.

What's the big deal? You don't have to play MP if you don't want to. Nothing says single player will suffer just because MP is brought into the picture.

I just dont see how this would be fun for the second player. I mean player 2 would have no ability to participate in dialog (would be virtually impossible to program) which is a majority of the game. I for one if I am not actively participating would be bored out of my mind. The only thing I could see as a possibility though I dont see how it would be fun/effective is at the beginning of every mission letting player 2 pick a squadmate. It just seems like with the co-op player 2 would miss the point of the game since ME is not a strait up shooter.

If your that desperate for multiplayer there are plenty of games out there that have that as an options. Just let the ME trilogy finish the way it started as a single player game. After ME3 I would love to see some sort of multiplayer/co-op game, just let the trilogy stay single player.

My two cents. No for M3. Now if they plan to implement this for a new game in the ME universe? Go for it, I guess. Not my thing, but apparently, there's an audience for it.

Holy crap, calm down people. There's reason to be nervous if, say, the single player suffers because resources were devoted to multiplayer, but look at the 'facts' we have now: they're hiring people to work on it. As in, people who have MP experience. As in, NOT the people working on the single player experience.
Lord, why would you people complain just because something is THERE?

mass effect dosent need multiplayer its as simple as that. and honestly fans who complained about elevator rides or the mako from mass effect 1 need to blame themselves and not the directors, the fans made me2 what it is.  i liked me2 except for the collectors. as far as me3 go's if this game sucks because fans demanded co op or multiplayer i will say be prepared for a huge war because they moaned everyday to get what they want and honestly they have no one to blame but themselves

I hope ME3 stays the same as me1 and 2, however when me3 is done and released, a ME MP would be quite awesome. Same story background however you're not "Shepard" more like a merc or start of as a simple resident of the citadel/colony and join whatever merc thing you feels the best.

Think about the possibilities ffs, imagine you find a planet with a small vessel you payed ****loads to get, then end up making ur own colony and have ur friend rape ur small settlement with a battle ccruiser! :)
