Interestingly enough I found all this negativity to massively kick in when we moved to the Social site...

So you're saying fans of Gears of War, Halo or Half-life don't care about story, or lack the attention span to sit through anything not related to shooting or blowing something up for more than 30 seconds? Two of my multiplayer buddies who never touched RPGs play Mass Effect 2 and it made them not only ME2 fans, but Bioware fans. I think more often than not it's more that some FPS gamers just haven't been introduced to quality RPGs. Brah.
Whoa whoa whoa hold the phone there champ.
"Gears of War", "Halo", and "Half Life".....seriously? One of those doesn't belong. No offense but for you to lump those three games into the same category it's hard to believe you know anything at all about games.
Excuse me? I don't take offense, but I do wonder what you're talking about. All 3 are shooters, one a third person, the other 2 first person. I was talking about fans of a genre, and listed 3 examples of that genre. I fail to see the problem.

Because it takes time and resources away from the important things. There are enough multiplayer shooters out there, there's no need to cram it into ME 3 too. If they make another game dedicated to it, fine. Otherwise, I think they have enough to do with putting the ME series back on its track as it is. If they still care about their own games, that is.

The job description said also "help us deliver the best story driven games" - exactly what I want from BioWare, and also it's for the new(er) Montreal studio, that just means an additional ME game, maybe the one after ME3, or a spin off.

"Half Life" is nothing like "Gears of War" or "Halo". For you to casually lump all three of them in together, as if the only difference is "3rd person or 1st person shooter"....again, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. 12+ years ago the "Half Life" series pioneered a lot of story telling elements we take for granted nowadays, and easily has just as much atmosphere and emphasis on characters and plot as anything Bioware has done. Hell, Bioware would probably tell you this themselves if you asked.
The other two, "Halo" and "Gears Of War"....not so much. Lumping "Half Life" in with them is like saying Michael Mann's "Heat" is the same as Joe Carnahan's "Smokin Aces" because both movies have automatic weapons.

You're comparing Half-Life 1/2 to Gears of War and Halo?cyberwaste13 wrote...

If Mass Effect 3's multiplayer can imitate the success of Half-Life 2's, then it'll be amazing. If it tries to imitate anything else (Gears of War, Call of Duty, Halo) - it's going to fail.

BUT PLZ KEEP ME3 away from MP

If it doesn't take away from the story of the single player experience thats cool, but its not like even after its released, we'd be able to say whether the inclusion of MP in ME altered the budget or anything for the single player side. I understand the need to do new stuff, but why not work on perfecting things with ME's single playe first? When the BioWare people said they were really trying to appeal to the "shooter" crowd with ME2, it seems like they really weren't kidding if they're going cram MP into it too.... /facepalm

Where are they? The big shooters sell 5+ million. ME2 only sold 1.6 million. It couldn't even out sell Dragon Age.
