Even if there was co-op I dont think I would play it. I much prefer getting lost in the game ALONE.

Interestingly enough I found all this negativity to massively kick in when we moved to the Social site...

So you're saying fans of Gears of War, Halo or Half-life don't care about story, or lack the attention span to sit through anything not related to shooting or blowing something up for more than 30 seconds? Two of my multiplayer buddies who never touched RPGs play Mass Effect 2 and it made them not only ME2 fans, but Bioware fans. I think more often than not it's more that some FPS gamers just haven't been introduced to quality RPGs. Brah.

Whoa whoa whoa hold the phone there champ.

"Gears of War", "Halo", and "Half Life".....seriously? One of those doesn't belong. No offense but for you to lump those three games into the same category it's hard to believe you know anything at all about games.

Excuse me? I don't take offense, but I do wonder what you're talking about. All 3 are shooters, one a third person, the other 2 first person. I was talking about fans of a genre, and listed 3 examples of that genre. I fail to see the problem.

Actually I would play co-op, but only after a solo playthrough. It would be fun to go back and save the galaxy with a friend.

I know, in reality, it won't reasonably dilute the ME single-player. But Bioware, why don't you introduce a multiplayer aspect after you're finished with the trilogy and focus all your efforts in making ME3 an unforgettable single-player experience?

As long as the single player story mode does not suffer for this, I'm fine with this. Really, people, what's the problem with multiplayer?

Because it takes time and resources away from the important things. There are enough multiplayer shooters out there, there's no need to cram it into ME 3 too. If they make another game dedicated to it, fine. Otherwise, I think they have enough to do with putting the ME series back on its track as it is. If they still care about their own games, that is.

As long as the single player mode isn't cut in half, I see no harm in multiplayer options. Not that I'd need a co-op or multiplayer might, but if done good, I might even like it.

The job description said also "help us deliver the best story driven games" - exactly what I want from BioWare, and also it's for the new(er) Montreal studio, that just means an additional ME game, maybe the one after ME3, or a spin off.

"Half Life" is nothing like "Gears of War" or "Halo". For you to casually lump all three of them in together, as if the only difference is "3rd person or 1st person shooter"....again, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. 12+ years ago the "Half Life" series pioneered a lot of story telling elements we take for granted nowadays, and easily has just as much atmosphere and emphasis on characters and plot as anything Bioware has done. Hell, Bioware would probably tell you this themselves if you asked.

The other two, "Halo" and "Gears Of War"....not so much. Lumping "Half Life" in with them is like saying Michael Mann's "Heat" is the same as Joe Carnahan's "Smokin Aces" because both movies have automatic weapons.

While Mass Effect multiplayer might (keyword "might") be fun, I'd prefer they stick to single player, first and foremost. Mass Effect is more an RPG than a shooter. If I want killer multiplayer, I can be satisfied with Halo... Especially with Halo:Reach coming out this year...

You're comparing Half-Life 1/2 to Gears of War and Halo?

If Mass Effect 3's multiplayer can imitate the success of Half-Life 2's, then it'll be amazing. If it tries to imitate anything else (Gears of War, Call of Duty, Halo) - it's going to fail.

EA chief operating officer John Schappert said something "far-reaching" would be coming for Mass Effect.

NO way its going MP lol maybe different games later on in the mass effect world after all they did flat out say there would be games later on after the trilogy. They said ME3 would be out around same time frame or less as ME-ME2 was. That is NOT enough time to take the last game into the MP world. More than likely this is the gateway for after the trilogy and the likely case. Once the main story is done the trilogy complete they could open up a fourth game into a MP. Joining different factions, playing as different races and their various groups... makes the mass effect world really open up. This would be fine with me as long as they keep the trilogy out of MP and as it is. However from them saying this Im positive game 4 will be MP, maybe even MMORPG

BUT PLZ KEEP ME3 away from MP Image IPB

*sigh* I can't say I'm surprised that ME3 will likely have Multiplayer, but I'm disappointed. Its like BioShock 2 throwing multiplayer in what is perfectly fine as a single player game. EA/BW will be able to throw MP around as a big new shiny feature and people will inevitably shell out more $$$ for easy to make Map Pack DLC.

If it doesn't take away from the story of the single player experience thats cool, but its not like even after its released, we'd be able to say whether the inclusion of MP in ME altered the budget or anything for the single player side. I understand the need to do new stuff, but why not work on perfecting things with ME's single playe first? When the BioWare people said they were really trying to appeal to the "shooter" crowd with ME2, it seems like they really weren't kidding if they're going cram MP into it too.... /facepalm

Where are they? The big shooters sell 5+ million. ME2 only sold 1.6 million. It couldn't even out sell Dragon Age.
