I think people need to step back and actually use their heads. Mass Effect is not going to get or need some huge egocentric director attached to it. The people that keep getting listed here like Cameron,Scott, Spielberg are going to want to take Mass Effect and shape it into something totally else, not give it the respect it deserves. Look at how the comic book movie franchise was turned around. Bryan Singer and Sam Raimi. We need a director thats going to tell the story for what it is, not try and wedge some personal political or eco message into it.

That is a thought...though it would probably mean less focus on action.
Which I personally wouldn't have any problems with whatsoever; though I can see many disagreeing.

Gotta admit that I would be Interested in what Christopher Nolan could do with a pure Sci Fi project.

Or maybe Jon Favreau....at least I would know then that I will come out of the cinema entertained.

I agree with this in almost every way possible. As for JC, maybe I should do this in the form of a fan letter...

Dear James Cameron,

Don't get me wrong - I really liked the first Terminator movie, but I will never forgive you for turning the sequel to my favorite science fiction movie for many years into Platoon in space, for taking my beautiful, peerless, unkillable jungle-cat from the stars and turning it into yet another bogeyman horde vulnerable to bullets and bad language. And worst of all, for allowing your worthless, immature obsession with spectacle allow you to graft that anorexic dinosaur into the plot so you could re-enact Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla in the last ten minutes of the movie. For Aliens, evey night when I say my prayers, I always end them with "Oh, and God... can you make James Cameron catch the Hantavirus, please? He's a ******." At least when Tim Burton masturbates in front of the camera, he makes no excuses for it. You like to pretend it makes you an artist, when in the end you're just another hack with his pants around his ankles cranking one out for whatever new technology is doing the rounds this week. The thought of you taking the Mass Effect franchise and bending it into your idea of what it should be makes me think it would be in safer hands with Paul Anderson. Or McG. Or Uwe Boll.

Thanks Jim - you keep makin' 'em, I'll keep not watchin' 'em.

Lots of love,

M

M. Night Shyamalan!

No Shepard, you are the Reapers. And John was a husk.

What a twist!

JJ "shaky cam and lens flare" Abrams? No thanks.

I think Neil Blomkamp (District 9) would be a good fit!

Some people should start thinkin that Mass Effect WILL be an action flick. The game is an action flick, so the movie won't be different.

James Cameron or JJ Abrams would be awesome choices.

Zack Snyder would be also a good choice, he is always faithful to the original source. But I think he'll start getting tired of adapting things.

Len Wiseman with a proper script and very tied. This guy has great abilities and sense of pacing.

Gore Verbinski, he has no personality and would do just what the producers want, but he is an excellent adventure director.

Bryan Singer could, but I found him a little "cold", and Sam Raimi would be a good choice IF he gets a bit darker/dramatic than usual.

Maybe Alfonso Cuaron, Nolan (nearly impossible), Spielberg (impossible) or even Michael Bay (say what you want, but VERY TIED could be a great choice. This guy makes some unexplainable things but surely knows how to shot big sequences)

Lars von Trier would direct it with only chalk lines as a set.

If (hypothetically) James Cameron were to direct this movie, I would kill myself. The flashy effects in Avatar distracted me from what the movie was about (I watched the movie from start to finish and did not know what the hell I just watched). The only contribution I would see him making is the blue color for the Asari. Other than that, he'd probably butcher the plot in trying to make biotics look "realistic".

I don't care who directs it as long as its not "in stunning, amazing, absolutely necessary that you see it in 3D, so that we can sell 300000000000$ TV's to play a select few things in 3D!!" and as long as Nathan Fillion makes a cameo in it somewhere.

Cameron used to be good back than in the terminator series, but after terminator 3 he started to suck hard. Please get him away from any movies he's just a mad profiteer on his ego trip who likes to spread his useless eye-candy crap.
