Steamrolled though it @ 14 (Dual-wield Berzerker with a full set of Juggernaut armor), even soloed the final boss, though I wasted a TON of poultices.

Try using spirit form. I found it much easier.

I didn't realize the Lyria ore restores EVERYTHING - health, stamina, mana to full. I thought I was collecting ore to aid me in convincing the dorfs to join the fight LOL (such a noob *sighs*)

I am still in the Fade, found fire form and mouse form. Fire form made me a happy camper. Still have good supply of pots, now that I know what the Lyria is for - btw it DOES repop...so you can always go back to a vein you tapped previously.

Level 7 rogue atm - dual wield swords no problems killing anything really - keeping my dex equal with my str and got the ability to dodge which really mitigates my dmg.

But I agree - the Fade is infuriating, but it's also fun and challenging...although I know I will like it better the second time around - knowing what to do and where to go. It's just too drawn out.

It was really hard at first until I noticed that switching "forms" like from the stone golem back to man on fire etc was filling my health back up...

Try it and you'll see...

1) get hurt

2) switch to GOLEM FORM

3) go back to human and your health is back up...

Doing this and you can hardly die, at least on normal...

I played it as a duel-wield rogue with my first playthrough and it was the first place I did because I wanted to get Wynne early. It's much easier once you make good use of the different forms. Some fights are much easier depending on which form you shift to. Fighting the golems for example seemed easier if you were the burning form, and the spirit form has some kind of self-heal IIRC.

I tended to use the spirit form a lot once I got it, crushing prison, then I would mix it up with the burning man form and fireball, or vise versa fireball and then crushing prison.  The shapeshifting is incredibly fast and powerful.  I thought it a little tedious at first...I also missed the power activation site...wondering can I go back to the tower and activate it?

My best advice for this section is to use the shapechanging abilities you have several times during combat after you get Spirit and Golem. Don't try to make it thru combat in only one shape

Well...i'm on my own at the moment so it doens't make a difference what party members i'm using.

It's just me...a rogue, with a sword and shield and bow. She seems very weak though ya know...compared to the likes of Alistair. I'm really struggling with it. Because i'm on my own, tactics don't really matter do they?

Can't believe you guys did it first off. I feel really **** now lol.

Sorry to say but rogues dual wield. You should NEVER use a shield. It is agaisnt your entire class mechanics. Try getting 2 weapons and see what happens next.

i did it at lvl 8-9 -or around that- on normal pc setting. the parts in the tower itself are about the hardest fights i had so far after the brutal fights at redcliffe and i have not seen a similar difficulty so far. the fade was not that hard by itself once you get the hang of it there. i'm lvl 14 now and it is all easier with better gear and skills.

It gets easier once you have all four forms. I had difficulty with this the first time I went there, but once you know what to do it's much less annoying. Some characters may have problems until you get the first fighting form, but from then on it should be okay.

Can anyone tell me about the quest where u have to turn on the item of power in the Circle Tower, I am at the one in the Bercilian Forest (sp?) and I see that I missed the one in the Tower. Will I be able to go back to the tower and get this done or is the tower now locked that I finished off the plot quest and recieved help from the mages.

Awesome dungeon - spirit realm thingy whatever! One of my favorite parts of the game. Reminded me of the time when dungeons would make you think to get through them. This was still a bit hand holdy but really fun. Everyone in here has given good advice but I will add: Be throrough. There are many upgrades to your attribute points in the fade as treasure. I suggest getting them all. Some cannot be accessed without spirit form.

I agree that it's too drawn out, and it is funner the second time through. If anyone is having troubles with it, use the forms you find. Using the right form for a boss makes the fight trivial, and the same goes for many of the trash fights, too. I did it as a level 7 rogue with no problems whatsoever because I used the forms a ton.

I thought this was one of the better parts of the game.

No your not rubbish, I am having a hrad time in the Darkspawn area, with the Crushing demon at the end. Have tried many different morph combo's, but cannot seem to find the right one. Om normal, and using a rogue..level 9 I believe. Any advice?

Those headbutts are mean. :P

I used all the forms but I found golem form to be universally good for 99% of the place. His quake, hurl rock and slam are really powerful.

Hurl rock instantly killed two mages in this one room that were giving me trouble with crushing prison.

Open with a fireball with the Burning Man form, from the entrance, switch to golem and boulder him, then use the punch and the quake once he closes in. He really should be around half his health at this point, if you went into the other areas first and gathered the available stat bonuses. Stay on golem form and continue pounding him, using abilities as they become available.

Just reading this thread and I was thinking about my reaction to this quest.  At first, I really hated it then towards the end I really began to enjoy myself, as I said to my SO for the first time in a game I was really starting to feel what it might be like to be a mage.

I hated it at first because when I started I had just assembled a reasonable group of companions and beginning to enjoy their quirks and banter.  Suddenly here I was, alone again, in the middle of what seemed to be a very long confusing and tedious quest, it also didn't help that although I was aware what my final objective was, I could not see the wherewithall to attain it.  It wasn't until I obtained my second form, the burning man, that the pieces began to fall into place.  Aha! So there were people trapped here like me who held a part of the solution and would give it to me so I could assemble the whole.  I then began to enjoy the forms, mage (my natural form) to cast spells, burning man to cross flames and  burn mages, mouse to hide...  Any combination thereof in any one bout of combat. You really haven't lived the virtual life until you become a mouse to flee golems...

And then I got to save my companions one by one and to see the secret desires and flairs that limited them.  When it got to the final battle, it was a doddle and I truly sad it was over.  My favourite main quest so far.

got to the Fade part (all discussing) and was having serious problems, like how the hell am I ment to do this!!?? Also had used all potions getting here (not that clever, I know, but that desire demon and the templar used alot, just cause I wasn't going to give in!)

I'm a rogue/archer lv 9/10, but am going to reattempt this after reading all the great advice here. Thank you all for posting! :D

The mages tower is redicolously easy IMHO (I play on hard), and I go rather early there (either before or after Redcliffe...so my 1st or 2nd stop)

The Fade is the part I hate the most in the game. Well... The Mage Asunder area where you have to deal with Mages who have range advantage on you.

Shifting is your friend and don't get too prideful and not shift... Burning Man's Fireball is a good thing.
