The Mass Effect Movie writers are planing to kill off Wrex!

How do we know this? Because we know the MEM follows the default cannon!

By default Shepard is male, just like what will happen in the movie.

By default Ashley is Shepard's love interest, just like what will happen in the movie.

By default, Wrex dies on Virmire, so it will happen in the movie. Don't let them kill him!

We know nothing of the plot they have in their heads. Hell, they probably don't even have anything down yet. In any case, this movie is so far away from a release that it isn't worth worrying about. And I'm pretty sure it's canon for Wrex to survive. Why else have him in ME2 with MORE dialogue than Wreave?

The default is what you get if your don't bring a save into mass effect 2.

If the screenwriters were trying to write an adaptation of the game, I highly doubt they'd stop to think about what the default choices were and go for what choices make for a better movie. In which case a showdown with a massive krogan leading in the krogan's unexpected death would be pretty dramatic.

Stop making stuff up that you have no solid proof of. There is no script/screenplay at this point in time and no press release to back your claims.

Default choices were set up for the newbs. Wrex is dead on the default because that removes the need for Bioware to explain who Wrex is and why Wrex is an old friend to those that didn't play ME1.

And Ashley is not the default romance. The default has no romance option because that's the best choice for people that didn't play ME1.

Cannon having Wrex dying sucks balls. But I doubt there is even a hint as to what this movie's script is

MEM?

What the hell is MEM?

The default profile is not 'canon', there is no 'canon' for Shepard's story bar the comics of ME:1.5

Wrex is awesome. Way better than the thing that replaced him.

I loves Wrexy.

This may be an attempt at trolling, but...

We know no such thing. What we do know is that they're making a movie based off of the games. That's all.

That being said, my guess is that they will write their own canon.

If I were writing it, I'd have Shepard kill Wrex. It's much more dramatic and emotionally impactful than having Shepard talk Wrex down.

No it isn't. Introducing characters just to kill them an hour later isn't just obscenely bad writing, it's really, really tacky. If they just killed him off, no one in the audience would care. Remember when Jazz died in Bayformers? No one gave a ****. It was just a token death. Observed by the audience with the same emotionless passivity megatron killed him with.

Writers tend to form emotional attachments to characters, and egocentrically assume that the audience feels the same. They don't. So while the writer might feel something by killing off a character, the audience may not.

This is why you have to develop characters, give them time to grow. Put them through tribulations, dilemmas, and watch them suffer and grow. When the audience watches a character blossom.

Wrex having to sacrifice the future of his people to save the galaxy was one of the best moments of character development in the game. If that moment was replaced by a tacky, token death scene, the audience wouldn't care at all. Worse yet, it would also take away from the gravity Alenko's death.

So no, it wouldn't have a greater emotional impact on the story. It wouldn't have any at all.

True they haven't even decide what the cast is or who the director is either so this is all speculation.

Much more dramatic and emotionally imactful?? First we have to see if the characters are true to their personality and are dramatic and emotionally impactful otherwise how can we care for them.

This isn't they haven't even chosen the director or the cast of actors to play in the movie, so obviously they haven't filmed any of the movie yet.

Yeah, we don't know anything about this. Plus Wrex is an uber-popular character, and I can't see BioWare ignoring him.

Plus, there is no such thing as "canon" in Mass Effect. "Canon" is whatever direction you play your own Commander Shepard.

Let's pray to the Lord that the Mass Effect movie doesn't end up like the Gears of War movie where the budget is cut so that it won't be a big blockbuster movie.
