How do we know this? Because we know the MEM follows the default cannon!
By default Shepard is male, just like what will happen in the movie.
By default Ashley is Shepard's love interest, just like what will happen in the movie.
By default, Wrex dies on Virmire, so it will happen in the movie. Don't let them kill him!

And Ashley is not the default romance. The default has no romance option because that's the best choice for people that didn't play ME1.

What the hell is MEM?
The default profile is not 'canon', there is no 'canon' for Shepard's story bar the comics of ME:1.5

We know no such thing. What we do know is that they're making a movie based off of the games. That's all.
That being said, my guess is that they will write their own canon.

No it isn't. Introducing characters just to kill them an hour later isn't just obscenely bad writing, it's really, really tacky. If they just killed him off, no one in the audience would care. Remember when Jazz died in Bayformers? No one gave a ****. It was just a token death. Observed by the audience with the same emotionless passivity megatron killed him with.

Writers tend to form emotional attachments to characters, and egocentrically assume that the audience feels the same. They don't. So while the writer might feel something by killing off a character, the audience may not.
This is why you have to develop characters, give them time to grow. Put them through tribulations, dilemmas, and watch them suffer and grow. When the audience watches a character blossom.
Wrex having to sacrifice the future of his people to save the galaxy was one of the best moments of character development in the game. If that moment was replaced by a tacky, token death scene, the audience wouldn't care at all. Worse yet, it would also take away from the gravity Alenko's death.
So no, it wouldn't have a greater emotional impact on the story. It wouldn't have any at all.

We know nothing of the plot they have in their heads. Hell, they probably don't even have anything down yet. In any case, this movie is so far away from a release that it isn't worth worrying about. And I'm pretty sure it's canon for Wrex to survive. Why else have him in ME2 with MORE dialogue than Wreave?
True they haven't even decide what the cast is or who the director is either so this is all speculation.

Much more dramatic and emotionally imactful?? First we have to see if the characters are true to their personality and are dramatic and emotionally impactful otherwise how can we care for them.

How do you know this is true Laughing Man?
This isn't they haven't even chosen the director or the cast of actors to play in the movie, so obviously they haven't filmed any of the movie yet.

Plus, there is no such thing as "canon" in Mass Effect. "Canon" is whatever direction you play your own Commander Shepard.
