i was thinking that each of the Mass Effect games play off of the moral code Each game was geard tored one of the codes. ME 1 is Paragon ME 2 is Renegade. So would that mean that ME 3 would be neutral if you played the games without importing your saved games?

No. I don't know how you managed to reach the conclusion that each ME was geared to an alignment. Nevertheless, you're wrong. ME1 so far is neutral with a renegade disposition. If you don't import, major plot choices in ME are assumed to be renegade.

Only reason (as I understood it) why default ME2 is renegade is to minimize all the references to the first game.
