"28 days later". Amazingly well-made zombie movie

Of course, i still like the classics, like "night of the living dead" and the cheesy ones, like "return of the living dead" and "planet terror" :)

Return of the Living Dead

Watch the first one, avoid the others like a plague of zombies.

There was also this weird Italian movie about radioactive zombies, but the name eludes me. It was truly one of the worse movies I ever saw.

You know, I never cared for 28 days later or 28 weeks later (Absolutely terrible this one was). I keep thinking "Why is ... happening?" or things along that line.

Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland get my vote.

I don't like any zombie movies. They're all the same. It's always about some massive unexplained apocalypse where there are a few redneck survivors who are trying to survive while having the time of their lives while doing so.

I haven't seen very many zombie flicks start-to-finish and the ones I have seen bits and pieces from, I don't care to remember :(

As Busomjack said, they really ought to vary the storylines and themes... you can only milk a "classic" or "cult" favourite for so long.

PS. I wanted to watch Zombieland because it looked funny but never got around to seeing it.

All of the "of the Dead" films. Night, Dawn, Day. The re-makes are also good.

Also The Return of the Living Dead is just a great Zombie flick.

The fellows in 28 days later technically aren't zombies.

Zombieland, Shaun of the dead, Resident Evil should have just started and ended with the first one.

good choice but unfortunately not that well known.

Zombie land was great, for me personally my all time faves are the original night of the living dead and the 2004 remake of dawn of the dead

Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later (though, yeah, they're more like mindless cannibals than walking dead), Versus, Re-Animator.

I'm fond of pretty much all off Romero's stuff - Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead. I haven't seen Diary of the Dead or Survival of the Dead yet, though I've heard they're both alright. The Dawn remake was surprisingly entertaining, too. The Living Dead series was campy fun even if it lacked Romero's zombies-as-social-commentary.

I know technically it's not a traditional zombie film, but Serpent and the Rainbow is one of my favs even if some of the special effects haven't aged well. It's got more to do with the Vodou-based idea of zombies than the walking-dead-that-eat-people sort.

The original Day of the Dead. I also enjoyed Shaun of the Dead. I've seen my share of zombie movies; most were forgettable or too gross for me to want to remember them.

The Original Night of the living dead, black and white version, always found that scary and Dawn of the Dead was one of the funniest Zombie flicks ive ever seen, i know its off topic but i had to mention it being this brought up memorys of when me and my pals would skip school and watch it to make fun of the silly special effects ....

Oh, I loved gross things growing up. That's when I saw the most zombie movies. I also remember the roach chapter in Creepshow fondly as disturbingly disgusting.

At some point I quit watching these movies because gross started feeling er... gross? I felt squeamish where I wasn't before and found horror movies felt like less thrill rides than eye torture. I'm lame, I know. :P

28 day's later. yes they aint realy zombies becuase they have memories and can think but it's just amazing on so many levels. One of my favourite films of all time.

Saun of the dead, a comedy horror classic.

Land of the dead, the gore put me off (i hate films with mindless gore) but the thought of the dead trying to be human again was pretty interesting.

I'm not really fond of zombie movies. It will likely never happen again, but Busomjack pretty much summed up my thoughts on them. There is one zombie musical that's pretty good.

the george romero zombie movies stand out for the social comentary in them..

night of the living dead.. racial violence and social upheaval, this was the time of the vietnam war and students being shot on campus by national guard troops

dawn of the dead.. the late 70's consumerism run amok, the zombies become comical the real danger as always is your fellow humans

day of the dead.. the human race become the minority and the zombies start to evolve, replace us as a civilisation

land of the dead.. humans devolve to barbarity and the new rich wallow in decadence

diary of the dead.. very telling story on the pervasiveness of the net and the media

i have seen that 5 times. it's awsome! :wizard:

adding to the list:

Dead Snow and Nightmare City. Pontypool is also good (and very different).

oh and Seagloom? ditto on the roach part of Creepshow. it's literally the only scene in any movie that made me feel uneasy in the stomach after watching.

Shaun of the dead, 28 days later, return of the living dead... I enjoyed these the most out of all the zombie movies I've seen and I also see that they each have already been listed.

I think I heart you.   Død snø ranks very high on my list of zombie flicks.    Also, as someone who grew up near Pontypool I found the movie to be double-awesome.  Definitely a different take on zombies

Quite surprised to see someone actually mention Versus.  I didn't think anyone saw that movie.  It is still one of my favorite zombie movies and always made me wonder if Devil May Cry might have pulled a bit of its style from that movie.
