Strangely enough, I liked Batman Forever as a kid, but it does seem to me now that it suffers from middle-child syndrome. It doesn't boast the dramatic gothic flair of Tim Burton's Batman Returns (which, as kooky and unhinged as it was, could be seen as psychological commentary on the tortured personas of all that dwell in the Bat-universe. Plus it had some absolutely mesmerizing moments and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman was a treat). Neither does it offer the big-screen action, suspense, darkness and drama of the rebooted Batman films starring Christian Bale. IMHO, on its own, Batman Forever is more or less tolerably watchable if you don't let the camp/cheesiness get in your way. But put up against the rest, it just doesn't have the emotional heft of the Bat-movies past and present, and the garish neon colors may or may not be your thing. Heh.Seagloom wrote...
Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. I saw the latter *twice* because it was so bad I just had to show a friend and see his reaction in person. It's a great example of how star power doesn't guarantee a movie's quality.

Did anyone notice how many times the word "leverage" was used in that movie? I couldn't help thinking that the writers badly needed a thesaurus.
