Is it me or does anyone else have to wait 5 minutes after every fight for their party to "exit combat" so that bodeis become lootable and quests update?

I ask this because I just finished the Pearl mercs quest in Denerim and the quest log updated saying that I should go talk to the Sergeant about it, but everytime I talk to the Sergeant the conversation is treated as a non-updated one. 

I played the entire quest chain through, fought the pearls and killed them in an alley battle and it was taking FOREVER to exit combat to talk to the Sergeant and loot the bodies.  So I just bounced to the Market District to talk to him there, and no luck.

Anyone?
