At the same time though, I remember how much I loved when I played through the new origins. It was so exciting because each one was so different (Fem City Elf is the best!!!)
Maybe they could add two or three new origins (Chasind Human, Apostate Mage, Qunari Something) and let us choose if we want to upload our old character or start a new origin.
Of course this would likely be difficult and I don't want the people at Bioware to be too stressed. I'll love it no matter what.... well not no matter what, but if the storyline and character development is as excellet as the first then I'll probably be just as obsessed as I am with this one.

DA:O, in all was the best rgp so far ever made for the PC, it was the money as it took you so long to complete, and what you did in the game, changes how the game sees you as a character..
Now with DA2 announced, what would you like to different from DA:O.. Here is my list:
Characters
More Races included instead of the basic human, elf, and dwarf fantasy.
Being able to play as good or bad, allowing a change in pace and multiple of different endings[/list]
Customization
More range of amour, got a bit tidies, with armour looking the same unless it was a rare find within
a quest Same goes for swords and other weapons as well
Graphics
New graphic engine should beimplemented, not that DA:O didn’t look good, but the characters would look
a tad more believable if little details such as their hair moved whenwalking or if windy etc .
Clothes and armour should get wet and drip when raining, you see this other games such as Uncharted when
drake’s clothes are wet and they stay soaked for sometime before dryingout. All these little tweaks make the world look a lot more believable and real.
World
·
Opened ended world, I thought the game was a bit linear, it would be better if there was more freedom like games such as Eldar Scrolls Oblivion, where you could stop and admire the landscape with calm music in background.
Story
·
If Bioware decides not to use same characters, then instead of having Origins which all lead to same route of joining the wardens, maybe allow the player to choose whether or not they join and if not, join at a later time within the game etc giving the story more depth and diversity
Pretty much everything you said. I'd love to see other races such as centaur, minotaurs, Gnolls and orcs or golbins. Something other than just the old, dwarf, human elf.

I think picking between either good or bad is ultimately limiting to the game as everything between superevil and saint tends to be overlooked, one should be able to act according to ones own philosophy without missing out on the fun. Furthermore you can allready be quite a bastard (only you don't get to fill a scum-o-meter and ****ed up complexion) or saint (likewise) despite the fact that neither path changes the ending overall. I think this is because youre probably gonna be able to import your character into Dragon Age 2 which means if you would have say: given Ferelden to the darkspawn; then that would yield some problems as the massive effects would effectively force blizzard to write two sequels.
I disagree on Dragon Age needing more races except half elves which would kinda fit in naturally but it's nice not having ****ing gnomes around for once.
I agree on that Bioware need to make more equipment, the gear that they have made looks sweet but lacks in diversity.
You ideas for graphics are IMO horrible.
Biowares problem graphically has allways been that they over prio little details such as shiny layered textures and shadows and stuff like moving grass rather than look at the whole. The result in it's full horrible uglyness can be seen in the outdoor enviroments of Dragon Age, extremely poor draw distance, performance issues, one tree/onehundred squaremeters and one colour per enviroment and no sky or clouds just a single coloured background makes you feel like your playing vanilla world of warcraft with minimum graphics. Rather than using detailed models and textures on everything Biowares graphician need to be sparse on their polygons and textures and use simple effects so that they can cram in much more stuff on the screen at once.
The wierdest thing is the skies though, i mean wth even KOTOR has great looking skies and its like what 5 years older? The graphician who was like: ''Uh-DUH lets UH Put SUM Tecktures bump map and Antiantializing heer and then not do any skies or clouds or stuff that just takes up like a third of the screen in all outdoor enviroments cant be important UH HUH?'' needs to be sacked <_<
Also an open world like those in Bethesdeas games wouldn't work in a Bioware style game. That doesn't mean everything has to be corridors though, Dragon Age 2 could certainly used more open and living enviroments (with improved graphics they could be awesome).
Story wise they need to stop using the system where you do some linear progression stuff for starters and is then told the outlines of the story and given 4 areas to visit and solve problems in (problems which are only slightly related to the main story) before you can progress with the actual story which isn't very exiting either because you allready know what's gonna happen because they told you before you did the 4 areas. Either make the game more linear or do it like Baldurs Gate 2, the blight was a moronic plot mechanic for a game that was supposed to initiate you into a new world, everything felt rushed. Ugh.

I kind of grown attached to my human noble and his relationship with Leliana, but wouldn't mind if the prtagonist does indeed change. However the character import option is a great idea created by BioWare and I think they should stick with it.
Some fresh new areas and origin stories are always welcome. I would really like to see the places that the other characters spoke of: Antiva, Orlais and Par Vollen.
The loading screens were getting a bit longer when I played the game for a long period of time, but a good game restart did wonders.

I'm not sure about the map thing but I'd certainly like places that were there simply to be explored, (here comes the line...) like in BG1, sorry, previous poster, but if you don't like those areas then don't go to them.
But the problem is that you won't know there's nothing of interest in those areas UNTILL you've explored them. What if an area has treasure stached with the best weapon in the game? What if an area has a trigger for an awesome side-quest? Since you don't know these things beforehand, you tend to explore everything, and be disappointed and bored out of your mind to find nothing but empty spaces with repetitive, pointless battles.
Much better to have each area involved actually designed, and have it have some significance, either to the storyline, or to some side quest - like in BG2.

2. Being able to go anywhere in a given scenario, as in not getting being barred by an invisible wall.
3. Gear icons that are actually indicative of what you'll be using.
4. Greater array of faces and combat moves.
5. Having people actually moving around in villages and cities.
6. A co-op mode; it's so much fun to be able to share the adventure with a party of friends.
7. DLCs (if you really have to) which could add the aforementioned in points 1 and 6.
8. If pure hack n' slash DLCs can't be avoided, add an online scoreboard so that players could compete.
9. Qunari as a playable race
10. Elves rediscovering some of their lost heritage.
11. Able to dye armor to a preferred color
12. If a given merchant isn't part of a quest, just have him/her say random greetings each time (or after an initial conversation) and immediately open the store menu.
13. Storage chest: being able to sort your equipment in a similar way as with the merchant menu - an unfortunate oversight in the original game -, and increase the storage cap.
14. Bags of holding. Very useful to have when you're running out of space while adventuring.
15. Allow the player to run an estate, complete with upgradable defenses, economy and staff.

If I can continue the BG comparison, I'm thinking more in terms of areas like Ulcaster than the random wooded areas, areas where you know there's going to be something relatively interesting but it's not related to any plot line. Perhaps a couple of deep roads segments or bandit camps, each with a bit of mid-level enchanted loot and a boss at the end, but not the objective of any quest.Swordfishtrombone wrote...

On a different topic, I want them to stop using ambushes between areas, the plot-related ones like the one that starts Leliana's side quest are fine but the ones that just throw you into a small map to fight some random enemies just serve to get in the way, they don't add anything entertaining.

2)A sandbox type world would be great although not sure if it's feasible with the current engine - one can dream though.
3) More character movement, jumping, climbing, crouching, quicker turn rates.
4) Guilds to join ala Oblivion.

- Cooler Helmets.
- Being able to keep helmets on in conversations.
- More races (Mainly Qunari, Werewolf and Disciple).
- More Origins.
- Not being a Grey Warden.
- Less Morrigan.

• More races (Don't have to be playable, but I would prefer it they were.)
• I want to join other organizations. (I want to join a Mage group!)

*Move lockpicking and stealth out of class skills and into non-combat skills.
*Specializations become more like prestige classes with advantages and drawbacks rather than just another set of abilites.
*Specializations unlocks are tied to characters not accounts.
*Mages restricted a school of magic selected at character creation, unlocking a second school at higher levels.
*Keep antagonists human.
*Ability to fail quests but continue with the main story. Like Alistair in the Darkspawn dlc.
* Neverwinter Nights style online.

It's really the only way to make people care about the choices they make. Good/Evil barometers suck.
Hit the players where they hurt.

-Better armor - I shouldn't cringe while looking at my mages
-Hard decisions - save Amaranthine or save the keep. While I'm at it, choices like whether to upgrade Vigil's Keep or where to put my soldiers.
-Involving sidequests - say if Gaxkang was fleshed out and we had to find him
-A few new origins - but also the option to import, like the Orlesian warden but with an actual origin
-The option to extend the ability bar
-A plot that uses Morrigan/the Old God baby as a major point
-Longshot but... the ability to choose a side in the plot - like in the smuggler sidequests in Amaranthine
Edit: more varied enemies - Ash wraiths were fun just because they were new, and being like "oh s***, all my fire spells just bounced off" is always fun

- Progression of the Storyline. Rather then just start off with a new character in another part of the world, I'd like for my Dragon Age Origins character to be able to be imported, and for his/her story to continue.
- Choices made in the original game and the expansion pack to carry over to the new game. Now I haven't finished Awakenings yet, I'm still working my way through it, but it would be nice if the choices that the player character makes actually has some meaning for later games in the series.
- Greater diversity in the classes. As much as I love DA:O, the Rogue and Warrior classes can at times feel like they are the same thing. The Archery talents, and the Dual Wielding talents are shared between the classes, and it would be nice if there were some differences in the ways the two classes implement those talents.
- Party Respec's. Honestly this would be the killer feature for me. Being able to change the party and my own characters pre-selected skills to my own custom-designed builds would be great.
Having said that, I'm sure Bioware will come up with a great game, and I look forward to seeing how it all turns out :-).

- 100% CPU usage is annoying.
- Game locks up computer during launch if you Tab out of the Intro logo animations, seems like a sign of deeper troubles.
- Ability to delete Addins cleanly and not just being able to disable them.
- Keyboard shortcut for "Take All" during looting

Re-spawning enemies, it's dull walking through empty passages with nothing to do but hold down tab is a little dull.
Proper ending! or closure for that chapter, pictures just don't cut it in this modern age, and don't close out the character from exploring even when that character has completed the final battle, it's his/her world he/she didn't just die.

Even if I can just do quests with a friend that would be fine by me. Similar to the spec ops system from call of duty mw2
Everyone states how good their characters are with no real way to put them to the ultimate test against other players. Maybe a team capture the flag, or 2V2 fighting off hordes of darkspawn to see who can survive for the longest time etc.
Single player is far too boring. Plus I don't want to pay 15 bucks for a new quest.
