How about some polearms for example? Warriors and mages could have the option of pikes or halberds, say. Perhaps an arcane warrior mage could have a glaive or naginata that would double as a magic staff and a melee weapon in one?

Forge/craft your own weapons and armor and customize the built-in enchantments yourself. So that I can make a sword that gives +300% critical/backstab damage.

Its Dragon age 2 which means that it is based at a similar time to your previous character so chances are you will be able to import your character or the chantry may of gotten bored with naming every 100years as a different age (unlikely if you ask me).
if it is based at the time of your character then another blight is unlikely unless if its in a totally different place.(REMOVED DUE TO ACCIDENTAL SPOILER)
If they put multiplayer in with DA2, yes it would be a nice addon however it would take forever to do and what would happen if the healer lagged just as the rest of the party needed healing so they all die? so i do not think they will include multiplayer.
if they make DA2 an open world, i think that would be fairly good, i dont care if it will affect the graphics all i want is better gameplay.

Staves
Light 2 hander (Katana)
More of a dueling way of using a sheild.
Better yet have forms of combat to change up your styles, like a Heavy mode for sword and sheild, or a style where you use the sheild like another weapon.

1)- the choices made from DA:O really do come back to haunt you, (REMOVED DUE TO ACCIDENTAL SPOILER)
2)- More spells/attack abilities. I just got bored with just basically playing arcane mage+healer and spamming a few electric spells.
3)- Mounts! if you could get horses or giant deepstalkers and attack from them that would be mint!
4)- Keep it easy to Mod! there were so many great mods and DLC that made this game better.
5)- More types of weapons/armour with different stats. I just got bored with the juggernaut/ cailans armour and feeling indestructable in them. if they made it so leather armour could run faster so rogues could keep trying to get behind you could pose more of a challenge.
6)- More MASSIVE battles! and perhaps make it so that not nearly everything got one hit KOed when you have been fighting them all throughout the game were they got stronger and stronger

- If they're going to make normal as easy as it was in DA:O, they need to make Nightmare difficulty nightmarish. Coming from the Baldur's Gate saga, everything in this game was so very easy, and really took away some of the fun.
-More cities! Or Larger cities at least. Or maybe one gigantic city. Would love to see an entirely new location such as Antiva.
-Some free roam locations completely unrelated to the main story where you can do some sidequests.

They should be A LOT stronger than your average enemies and be encountered more rarely.

Agreed. In my first playthrough after I mowed down the Darkspawn in the Korcari Wilds, I felt they didn't deserve their fearsome reputation.
So after that I knocked the difficulty up to 'Nightmare' every time I squared off against Darkspawn, and 'Normal' when facing everything else.
It felt right.

The fact that you're a Warden during a Blight no less made it ok to me that the darkspawn were rather plentiful. But at least in the Deep Roads which is basically the home turf for the darkspawn, yeah, there the odds should be tipped against the PC a bit more.

If you're fighting darkspawn rarely, what are you doing the rest of the time?

DAO was during the Blight, and you don't fight darkspawn in most of the origins, the elven quest, Redcliffe, Haven, Magi quest, or anything in Denerim. In a non-Blight sequel, it would make sense to rarely, if ever, fight darkspawn and instead square off against humans/qunari/demons/undead/werewolves/whatever DA2 focuses on. Of course, I would like to see at least some darkspawn in the sequel, but not have the sequel focus on them.
As to darkspawn being too powerful, the simple explanation is that being a Warden helps you fight them, so that's at least one argument. But yes, I would like the darkspawn to live up to their reputation, although remember that few humans have ever seen darkspawn, and so human beliefs about darkspawn and their fighting abilities aren't very reliable.

i think there was a variety.250poundbeefcake wrote...
- Less Darkspawn, more variety in regular enemies.
spiders- a variety of different colors and shapes
bears- not as much variety as spiders but they arent all the same
dogs- no real variety here
wolves- same ol wolves
zombies- they have maybe 2 models
shades- no variety
demons- you got your rage demons desire demons sloth demons and pride demons
spirits- spirit of valor you can kill and wisps cant think of anymore
warriors-elven dwarfs and humans
magi- ditto
rogues- only elves and humans
abominations-no variety
then darkspawn- you got your hurlocks genlocks ogres and shrieks with a few different models for some of them.
None of them are really memorable imo but they put in quite a bit.
Well i think it wouldnt hurt to put in more.

No game has really done a good job with this sort of thing yet, but as a gaming culture we're working toward it. I'd like to see the next Dragon Age feature this sort of gut-wrenching, "I have two choices. Both are terrible, but I have to pick one or the other, knowing that someone is going to come out short. What do I do?!?" kind of moment at least once. I love DA:O, so far my favorite RPG ever, but I felt cheated in some places by being able to avoid that heart-searing experience which should have been present in the situation (The end-stage of Orzammar in particular) through an absurdity in plot.
Better combat mechanics would be good, but isn't critical; I'm familiar with the mechanics currently used, and too much change would end up with things getting confused when I try to switch back and forth between games. The engine itself is fine; it fits the setting, although I would recommend they optimize it for Dragon Age 2.
Beyond that, I'm a fairly happy camper.

Not exactly standard, even for the most enlightened of European nations in the period, but it's a modern BioWare game, and I understand and can agree with their reasoning.
However, the weapons... I'd like to get BioWare to talk to someone who actually knows weapons of the era. The weapons used in DA:O just tend to freak me out; they're not viable for combat in so many ways, and it's rather alarming that they let the weapons go like that when they did so well depicting nearly every other piece of equipment.

Using up condoms (pig intestine-style
Seriously though, I hope Dragon Age 2 wont revolve around a blight, because it's a poor plot mechanic since it rushes the story along and leaves little to no logical room for quests that may stray from the direct threat of the impending darkspawn horde. Nonetheless despite Origins revolving around a blight there lots of battles not fought against actual Darkspawn (bandits demons crazy dragon people, dragons, etc). There were even entire areas completely devoid of Darkspawn.
Now with a more intelligent and less stressed plot the Darkspawn need not necessarily the the antagonists of the majority of the games battles but can instead appear rarely as exceedingly difficult encounter so that their fierceness might actually be recognized and feared as is fitting for a true menace. They should not die just as easy as common bandits.
The fact that you can actually go straight from that stupid village where you get Sten to Orzammar and down into the deep roads too slaughter half the horde is kinda ridiculous. Indeed such an act should not be possible and if Bioware still feel inclined (as is likely) to have another such dungeon crawl in Dragon Age 2 then I can hope that they place it late in the game when the player has gained considerable power making it less stupid.
