A new Dragon Age project does seem to be on the horizon. There is a paper that comes in the Awakening box which has a red silhouette of a dragon and nothing else other than "2.01.2011" on it.

Nah, that'll be another expansion. Considering it takes them 2 years minimum to make a Mass Effect game, there's no way they're going to do a full DA sequel in less time. Unless it's terrible.

Bioware may of had a longer time than you think. The Pc version was finished way before the consoles, however it just took forever for them to finish it for consoles quite simply because not all of it can be changed instantly. Anyway i think EA didn't want them to release it at a different time for each format. So if you look at it from my point of view they may of had about 2 years maybe less to develop it as long as they started before it was actually released (meh im bored so...:o<3:devil: <3:bandit: -_-:?:huh::wizard::ph34r::P:pinched::alien::bandit::lol::police::wub::crying::devil:)

My theory is that when BW finished Origins they immediately started work on Awakening. Almost exactly a year later, it's released, giving them another year to work on a potential second expansion. DA2 will have a reduce production time though, since it will probably use the same engine.

I loved DA, but after playing it once or twice, it just does not have the fun factor that Oblivion has. Or even BGII. I loved having a party and the story was epic, but in the end, I want an RPG that is less linear and more, do what you want, when you want.

-A balance of skill points to leveling. Why does the rogue get a point every 2 levels and the warrior and mage get a point every 3? They all should get points at the same rate, preferably every 2 levels.
-A community storage chest in your camp right form the start. (mentioned that before but not sure where now)
-More downloadable content to support the game. I’m talking about solid length quests that last at least a few hours each not these short 45 minute or less ones we get from BioWare all the time now. They should also include new weapons and armor usable by all classes.

-More random encounters on the road with something to fight. In DAO after a point they seem to just run out.

-From what I found…

BioWare VP Greg Zeschuk outed a sequel in an interview with joystiq.com. He said "I think one of the key things we're working on in Dragon Age 2 is the technology".

In the disc editions of Dragon Age: Awakening sold at retail, there was a printed card, shown with a blood red dragon similar to DA:O's, with a date of February 1, 2011. Due to EA's statements of a new Dragon Age title coming out in Q1 2011, it is a strong possibility that this could be Dragon Age 2.

If it's coming out in Q1 2011, that's going by FY, NOT CY. FY 2011, kiddies, has already begun. February 2011 is in Q4 of FY 2011 (sorry, grew up with a parent in the federal accounting trade; I know whereof I speak), which means if there's an new DA title coming in Q1 FY 2011, it should be here VERY soon. They may have been working on it in conjunction with Dragon Age, due to the build-up and hype which has surrounded it since it first surfaced on the radar 6-7 years back. It isn't inconceivable that whatever the new DA title may be, expansion #2 or DA 2, they may have been riding the wave of the creativity and world-building (and general public excitement at the news of an impending BioWare RPG forthcoming) to create the second one at the same time they were working on DA:O. Rome wasn't built in a day; neither are games, but if anyone here is an artist of any sort (writer, painter, sculptor, graphic artist, sketch artist, comic artist, etc.), you know how it can go: you can get so into a project you're working on, the juices flowing so well that leaving the project is sacrilege of the highest order. You begrudge the time you have to take care of necessary functions when you're in the midst of a creative high of massive proportions.

Creating a game is like that as well, I believe, only on a scale so much grander that most of us can only think of it like we would think of Da Vinci painting the Mona Lisa or Michaelangelo painting the ceilings of the Sistine Chapel in his old age, despite the exhortations of his apprentices to come down for some sleep and a bite of supper. For another example from popular fiction, take The Princess Bride (the book, not the film) and Domingo making the six-fingered sword.

Creativity, artistic genius of that sort, it can't be stopped once begun, save by finishing the art. BioWare may have found themselves in that position. We don't know. We do know these facts: 1) FY 2011 is in Q1 even as we speak; 2) EA's website confirms that a new DA title is due to come out in Q1 of FY 2011; 3) some of us got with Awakening a flyer which stated something about 02.01.2011; 4) There is recent news of a DA film due to be released in Q4 of FY 2011, which coincides nicely with the flyer, but 5) there is no confirmation or denial of any sort currently ongoing about exactly what is being released on that date.

This is what we know. If EA, which is a corporate entity which tracks everything happening in it's existence by FY instead of CY, is suddenly for this instance tracking things by CY, I will film myself eating my hat and put it on YouTube, with a link here for all to see it.

Thank you for putting up with this, and I hope it edifies and educates, as well as clarifying a few clouded matters.

I like open, sandbox kind of games but not on the level of Oblivion. That game just bored me to tears...and a lot of the time you were just left wondering what in the world you were supposed to be doing. On the other I don't care much for games that are overly linear like ME2.

I think they should definitely put in more backgrounds.

DAO is a fantastic game, very addictive, the best i played so far. i wish i DAO2 the following things to be implemented

May be increase the number of NPC i can have in my party.

To make the game more realistic, some armor and weapons must incur damage in battle (much like in diablo). The player must pay money to repair it. Arrows etc should not be infinite

mages should be able to use staffs that fire minor magic spells (much like in Rage of mages)

Some mage spells in DAO are too overpowering e.g crushing prison and should be modified

More useful spells. i miss some spells from IWD2/BDG2/NWN, e.g malavon's rage, dragon breath, divine power, spell sequencer, searing light, familiar

Warriors/rogues must have better fighting techniques, like in NWN, they should be able to block, dodge, deflect, counter, throw, inorder to make fights more realistic

the protagonist must have spectacular finishing moves (like in the new batman asylum)

It would be more challenging if flying monsters can only be defeated using a ranged weapon.

I dunno. Rogues are traditionally a skills class. Maybe keep the extra skills but nerf rogue DPS a little instead.

I'd like to see a rebalancing of item prices. Health poultices are way too cheap right now -- 30 Potent Health Poultices or The Rose's Thorn? No contest; the poultices will be much more more advantageous to you. I think the poultice and ingredient prices should be quadrupled.

It could go either way, though personally I suspect it will be an expansion. If they're not just reusing assets for DA2 it's going to take longer than year.

-The only real skills in the list that rogues would exclusively use is Stealing. Poison Making and Trap Making can be done by anyone but work as well for rogues.

Personally I think the prices are fine. You don’t want them so costly that you cant afford to buy them or buy the ingredients to make what you need.

Oh, and no nerfing of anything please. I left World of Warcraft because they nerfed everything to much that the game just sickens me now. It got to a point that every month or so something got “fixed”.

As for what it is comming next year, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what is mentioned at E3.

What I would change is:

1) More options with character creator (body build, more hair and facial hair styles)
1a) The bigger the build of character ultimately the slower but more powerful they are and the smaller the build the quicker but less powerful they are ie a big huge character with a 50 dex will be slower ultimately than a smaller character with the same dex rating and vice versa for strength
2) More realistic combat moves. Just like how the Madden guys attach sensors to real football players do the same with a weapons expert. Sick of slash, stab, slash, slash, slash, stab and also it would make the character's moves more smooth and fluid. Very tedius in DAO. Also switch up what moves a character uses depending on situation like if surrounded have the character slash then front kick an enemy away and switch to the next closest and attack them.
3) Instead of having special moves, make a character's rating effect how he/she handles and uses their weapons. The higher the character's rating the more efficiently they use weapons (to block, to attack, and to completely incapacitate foes). ie a level 25 warrior could slash, cut, and decapitate or cut off limbs of a number of foes, were as a level five might have a harder time fighting one or two enemies.
4) Make the game world more open like in GTA or Saints row, rather than how it is now.
5) More blood and gore.
6) Individualize special armor and weapons (ie felons coat, topsider or keening blade) also maybe a create/design your own weapons and armor.
7) Meaner looking armor, helmets, and robes. Heavy chainmail looks like a dress or  a Ball type armor, mages robes and head dress makes them look like bad carnies, and some helmets look like just plain dumb.
8) Significant consequences for choices you make, like a party member is killed or you have to choose between killing a party member or watching you love die, something like that.
9) Have decisions throughout the game effect how people react to you. ie if you show no mercy to your enemies then people are scared and are more easy to intimidate.
10) Have your character's attributes effect their fighting technique, ie higher dex the character is more a slasher and very quick with their weapon strikes, where as a higher strength character is more of a hacker and stabber with slower but more powerful thrusts.
11) Be able to throw your axe, sword, or dagger at an enemy and impale them.
12) Keep ruin creation. I like building up my armor and weapons, just make all ruins available for sale
13) Although I really liked the dialogue for this type of rpg (i'm not a dungeons & dragons kind of guy) I feel it could of been a tad better, not much, but just a tad.
14) If someone responds to you in a way or doesn't give you the answer you want have the option to kill them and maybe have it affect you in another part of the game.
15) I know it sounds dumb but make the game longer. I think more main missions were needed (not more side missions)
16) In camp storage for weapons and such.
17) If carrying a shield actually use it to block arrows and strikes and use it as a weapon without having to use a special move.
18) This is more of a question but how does a warrior with a shield and sword have a higher damage rating than a dual weapon warrior carrying two long swords even though they have the same attributes?
 19) If your gonna make a weapon 150 gold or make me defeat a high dragon to get it then make it a billy bad ass, must have, i can take on a whole legion type weapon, basically make it worth it. Vershaille and roses thorn are not those weapons.
20) Please make there be a difference in combat moves between a dual wield rogue and a dual wield warrior.
21) Be able to impale enemies, cut off limbs and heads, and cut enemies in half (only two handed weapons).
22) Be able to sprint, jump, and climb
23) Better graphics such as hair, don't make it look like a Ken doll. If windy make it move, if raining make the character wet, etc.
24) Why do cities like Denerim, Redcliffe, and Orzammar look like their pop. is 50 or less? Make a city look like a city. I was fine with some small towns like lothering looking less populated. But Denerim is the capital, C'mon!

Well that is all I have. I know I am a little out of my element with this genre of RPG. But, DAO is probably one of the best and most addictive games I have ever played. I've played World of Warcraft and Fable and thought both were dumb and not worth my while. I love DAO and can't wait for the 2nd version just hope it isn't a let down like I've heard Mass Effect 2 was.

i think one change i would like is the ability to customize my armor ingame. This has been done by bioware before in NWN with the craft weapon and armor skills. something similar would be a much welcome addition.
Another change i would like to see is an increase in the difficulty. The expansion fun otherwise was very easy. The main problem that could fix this issue when fighting darkspawn is an increase in their numbers.
Generally darkspawn are supposed to be mindless but what they lack in intelligence they make up with numbers. so i hope this issue is given slightly more atttention

I'm no fan of Oblivion. Frankly I like my games with a linear storyline. Open ended gaming tends to bore me and makes me want to sleep.

Allow for importing of characters from previous DA:O and DA Awakenings. Better graphics.

As for romances. Allow all women and men to be romanced by both genders. Instead of having only say Leliana available for romance, you can make say Morigan romanceable by women as well. Just an example. Also make the female romances more believable. Instead of having a girly girl for a lesbian romance, have a butch lesbian in there for your character to have a romance with.

I found Leliana too girly for my tastes. Not every lesbian wants a femme for a partner. Some lesbians like myself are femme's and want a butch lover. More of a range would be nice in the romance department.

Bring back Zevran, Morigan, and Shale. I loved those three. Hell they were my favorite party members. Just the conversations you had with them made me laugh.

but then the butch would not be believeable for my male.
having all of them be romanceable by both genders to me is not believeable.
I call for 2 straight 2 bi and 2 gay romances with 12 new party members.:D

Actually the female main character for females is butch cause Leliana is a girly girl and Alistair is not a very manly man and as for Zevran... he can be both top and bottom. Another example example in ME1 Liara was a femme while Female Shepard was butch even if you went with Kaiden. He himself stated he liked more 'adventurous women'. There are many men out there who like having a butch/dominant lover. Your character might not like that, but there are plenty of men who do. Same for women. Not everyone has the same tastes. But I like your idea non-the-less. :)

I wouldn't gripe to much about romance in DA, at least it is not as limited as it could be...like in MA. Would be nice if MA had the same romance mechanics as DA.

Dragon Age was done so well there is very little I can honestly complain about (which in itself is a compliment).

So the areas Id personally like attended to are as follows:

1) Larger then one screen/battle side quests. Im not a fan of the 5 minute side quest. I want story, background, suspence, not just fight and finish.

2) More adult feel to the love scenes (via ME1 (not 2) type scene). Doesnt have to be nudity (female only)  but doesnt eliminate possibility either.

3) Stop shoving the gay on us. I dont care if you want to put homosexuality in the game but make it so you have to go looking for it to find it. I really wanted option to just kill the assassin (been awhile since I played) when he made passes and comments at me.

So either allow me to kill any gays I meet or simply hide their fairy antics so only those who want that crap infected by it!

You can call me all the names you want, I dont let guys hit on me in real life and I dont like being forced to do so in games either. I live my life that what you do in your bed room is YOUR BUSINESS and I dont want to hear about it in any way, shape, or form!

So again, let us attack and kill any fembot that makes a pass at me or just remove it so only infects those that wish to be infected by that type of storyline.

Jade Empire did it perfectly. You didnt even know Cloud/Sky/what ever name was, was bi, unless you actually asked (which I didnt).

4) Voice over narrative for the codex entries. The codex in DA:O was just to hard to read.

5) remove gifts from influence system and force people to be careful with what they say and how they say it to influence (positive or negative) those around them.

Im obviously over stating it!

I just want that stuff gone from the main game you play.
Have it like Jade Empire where you have to choose that option to go down that road

Thats what im serious about.

I really felt uncomfortable with the assassin basically drooling over me with some comments in the first game and in real life would have told the person to stop. No option for that in game though.

It's Kalfear, he's always serious.

In any case, I want the Darkspawn to have depth. Awakening took a great stab at this and I want this to be expanded upon. Before Awakening, the way I introduced the Darkspawn to my friends was by describing them "as a race who's only form of communication was rape, pillaging and murder, not necessarily in that order and more often than not repeated many times".

Kalfear actually you're wrong. The very first time Zevran starts hitting on you you can tell him to back off. It's in his dialogue options. So the fact is you just never looked for it. Just like when Alistair starts hitting on a female hero, or Morrigan or Leliana starts hitting on your main character you can tell them to back off. Each romance interest has a back off option from the very first time they start hitting on you. You just never read through all the dialogue options. So please don't say that there isn't any options to tell Zevran to back off cause I've played the game multiple times with both male and female characters to get the entire story just for kicks.

Zevran makes multiple comments, im not wrong and im not only one who loved game that was annoyed by this!

And Im sorry, call me any name you want again, I have no problem with a male hitting on a female in a mainstream storyline long as female has right to say no!

Wth Zevran, you say no and he still drops gay little comments

and your not only one thats played multiple times Heather. Ive probly played more times a sa male and honestly in last few games, I just didnt accept Zevran into group to avoid the gay nonsence completely (which is a shame because other then that crap, hes a interesting character)

Ill say it again though, I dont evn mind that stuff in game, just have a comment you have to make that starts it like Jade Empire did and leave the rest of it outta the main story.

You guys have mostly nailed everything i want to see(and somethings I don't want to see) within the first page. I would prefer the OPTION to start a new character than it just continuing right after DAO/DAA because my main character should be running around the world with his LI around the time after DAO/DAA.
