Not surprisingly, I have to put my voice in for Miranda. As for why, I'll quote what I posted in answer to the question why we (in the Miranda thread) like Miranda:

Most of us like Miranda because she is competent, morally ambiguous, interesting in many aspects and, last but not least, human and beautiful. Because she's powerful enough to be a companion instead of a mere follower to a larger-than-life hero like Shepard. Read the "Miranda Manifesto" in the OP [of the Miranda thread, see sig for link] for more details.

Now, Miranda may not appeal to you, or you might like her somewhat but not as an LI. That's very much OK (though I find it incomprehensible). However, before saying - or being altogether too much influenced by people saying - things like "she's a stuck-up bimbo", I would suggest reading up on her. Having said that, I guess Miranda wouldn't mind being mistaken as such by her opponents and detractors.

I hate it whenever someone goes like "Eww, she's not human". Does it really matter? Asari are meant to reproduce with other species. Quarians, other than asari, are very similar to humans. Wait. I'm a hypocrit. My femShep romanced Garrus

Hey, thank you all for your own two cents.

For the people who say "go who you want to go with" etc. I really can't decide. I like 'em all a lot, and for different reasons. I was just looking for your opinion on who's best, because I really couldn't decide this.

sergio71785's post on the top of page 4 is probably the reason I think I'm gonna go with Tali, but I'll probably change my mind a million times before I start making my final playthroughs of the both games.

But please, let's continue this pointless "she's the best because *insert facts that we all know and probably don't care about* and she sucks because *insert childish reasons for why you don't like a character and while you're at it bash the guy who made a positive post about this LI*"

Seriously, is it impossible to promote one LI without bashing all the others?

Did you listen to the bachelor party on Ilium? I don't know if it's meant as a joke or not, but it points to one aspect of the problem. How the hell do they attract members of X species who all look, smell, feel and sound different?

It's not a "Eww" factor. It's plausibility. To romance a nonhuman make her less real for me. Even worse, it makes my Shepard less real. I just can't suspend my disbelief enough to accept such screaming silliness. I really like Tali. She's nice as a character, as a friend, even as a lifelong (platonically) loved companion. But sexual attraction? Ridiculous.

Excepting a few contradictory facts, I find it easier to accept the nonsensical physics. They're from an area of knowledge we don't really know very much of. Biology is different.

Aside from having two arms, two legs, and two eyes, Turians look nothing like human males and I'm not ashamed to say I find them extremely sexually attractive (and clearly, I'm not the only one since the requests to have Garrus as a romance were great enough in number that Bioware included it). Now, if they smelled like a sewer, I'm sure it'd be different, but there's nothing saying they have repulsive body odor *shrugs*.

Of course, I'm also not a man. Perhaps men are pickier.

Yeah, it adds realism when you romance a human. Biology is different with quarians (Dextro), not so much with asari. But then again, this isn't to be taken seriously. Why wouldn't you like tali that way? The only thing different are hands and feet. Only someone with a hand or foot fetish would be dissapointed with that. And I think it's emotional how she is willing to be exposed just to have a time of pleasure with shepard.
Anyway, why SHOULD it be realistic? It's a science fiction game that doesn't follow the laws of science.

Guys. The decision is yours. Jack has a real emotional romance. Miranda has a very... exotic one. And for tali... Sergio's post at the top of page 4 says it all.

I was torn between tali and Ashley but then I realized if both Tali and Ashley were on the Normandy, I wouldn't hesitate to choose Ash, so that really answered the question for me. If you can put yourself in that situation, you'll find your answer. If you really like Ash then spending whatever the time frame of ME2 is apart, shouldn't be reason enough to just jump on the next best available option.

In ME1 I went with Liara only because I found her slightly less annoying than Ashley. After Ashley's cold reception at Horizon it looks like I made the right choice. Liara appears to have moved on as well which made the ME2 romance option much easier.

Miranda... I can't tell you how many girls that are way too full of themselves (for all the wrong reasons too) I've chased. The last thing I need is to pursue that in game. Besides all the dialog options around her are always about her looks. God bless Yvonne S. for being an Ausie beauty and gracing her image and voice in the game, but the game never really convinced me she was the right love interest.

Jack... Bald and covered in tats is no way to go through life aboard a spaceship. In game she actually has the "prettiest face" but I subscribe to the "Don't stick your dick in crazy" school of courtship. Even when you do romance her all the way she just cries during sex. Do you know how big of a turn off that is?
Shepard: Hey we're all about die, lets have one last moment together!
Jack: *Cries*
Shepard: Here are some tissues... I'm gonna go play tic-tac-toe with EDI...

Tali... I'm going to admit bias here simply because I thought she was a cool squad member in ME1. I liked her background and her story and it wasn't muddled with LI stuff in the first game. In ME2 when we first meet her she's grown up some, trying to be a leader in her own right. When you go to Haestrom and hear her logs about how she misses Shepard, man thats some great voice acting right there. Her loyalty quest is just great and assuming you don't betray her, you can tell from her dialog how she feels about Shepard. And lets face it, besides the geth data in ME 1 and her trial in ME 2 she never asks anything else of Shepard.
The dialog where she wants to feel your skin against hers, had a housemate walk by when that came up and even he sat down asking "Woah! What game is this?"
She's the only one who falls for Shepard well before he makes any advances. That my friends is a keeper.

On another note:
Samara - I like how she turns your down, even though she wants it. Good story telling there.
Kelly - I need to see if I can find a shrink like her...
Kasumi - Even though I get why she's not a love interest (she's a thief, already had one close attachment dies on her, DLC, etc) she's the only other character I'd be more interested in "getting to know better."

but that requires waiting till ME3. I have no idea how the characters are going to develop in the next game especially liara. I'm interested to see how she turns out what with her lust for revenge and all.
