I've been looking around for information on what kinda armor a dual wield warrior wears and everyone says leather. Is it possible to wear heavy-massive armor and if so what penalties would i get?
P.S just bought game so im a noob

It's more beneficial for you to wear light armor if youre dual-wielding due to the penalty to fatigue based on the weight of what youre wearing. Fatigue is like the warriors' mana bar and you need it to use special attacks and abilities. You also shouldn't be getting hit near as often as your sword-and-board tank, assuming youre going that route, so the added protection of heavier armor would be wasted on you.
If you find yourself taking more damage than you should, take another look at your croud control and disable abilities, or boost your constitution. You can also find a happy middle ground between fatigue vs protection in medium armors like splint mail and basic chainmails. I use medium armor myself on my 2H warrior who runs a dps build similar to dual-wielding.

I'd probably shoot for Ancient Elven, personally.

Depends how you play with getting hit. If you actually plan and use tactics to have a tank (which I don't, also kinda ruins some RP in technicality.), I'd settle on Ancient Elven or a medium armor, If you really don't wanna wear massive, find a good heavy set. Armor of Diligence is one, Ceremonial armor is another I believe.

My current character only wears boots, gauntlets and (recently) a helmet. He's been doing fine. Seeing a half dressed dwarf during cutscenes is just hilarious.

I'm dual wielding large weapons so I'm not seeing any benefit to dex (I suppose I could be way off, not entirely sure how DA works) so I brought my dex to 36 or what not to qualify for all teh dual wield abilities and pumped everything else into str. I'm wearing the heaviest version of the dragon plate and the fatigue penalty is not to bad.

Strength vs Dex for a warrior is basically damage vs defense. And I guess if you like using a bow too you'd want dex for that.
Defense is pretty underrated though!

dex is also the ability to land a hit and avoid being hit... Dex/Str/Will is nice for DW Warrior assuming ur DPS and not tanking
full medium armor on mine and still have a (-)fatigue

Pretty simple:
Heavy/Massive armor > high fatigue penalty > need stamina > willpower.
Light / Medium armor > low or none fatigue penalty (thanks to the set bonus) > no need for much stamina > boost damage with other attributes.
It really depends on ya’ play style, party and difficulty
If you have a tank taking all the hits go for the Light/Medium, you can spend attribute points more freely then.
With Heavy/Massive you will be forced to put some points into willpower to reduce the stamina loss. But then again if ya’ planning on tanking/off tanking with a duel wielding warrior you should get some armor.
Heavy/Massive armor > high fatigue penalty > need stamina > willpower.

honostly, it doesnt make a huge difference, the stat bonus's and looks are better on plate gear, plus you get the training that reduces fatigue for warriors, so you shouldnt be having crazy amounts of fatigue.

There are a few massive armor sets that help with fatigue. I use the dragon scale armor on my DW dwarf warrior and he dominates the battle field with ease. Got him just enough dex to master DW. He's actually rather good with a long bow due to his high strength, as well.

People are seriously obsessed with getting "the best" min/max character in this game, I'm playing the game 1st play through and doing duel wield/heavy armor... seems to be working for me as I usually tank with threaten and need the armor.

Lots of great info!
My party consists of:
ME(DW Warrior/Champion),
Leliana(Archer/Chest Opener)
Morrigan(CC mage)
Wynn(Auto Healer)
I was planning to have just enough dex to get all the DW talents and pump Str with a little willpower.

Personal party is Me, alistair*, Zevran and Morrigan, I'm set up as a dw war in massive armor and do fine. you only need to worry about stamina/fatigue if you are dead set on using specials. I churn through one of each from the dw tree [sweep, ww, etc] and then just smash on the target...usually it's dead by then and morrigan is always there to keep everyone healed.
Min maxing is pointless in DA imo as if you play it smart you can do just fine. Play how it suits you, not how the game suits numbers and toss strategy in the mix and you're gtg. If my comp with my saves hadn't run into an issue i'd look up my stats to give you an idea of what i went with. For what all that jabber is worth I hope it helps.

SPOILER ALERT!!!
I wore the Blood Dragon Plate (only the chest piece) pretty much the entire game, which worked pretty well. At the end of the game, when you have the best swords and the best runes fatigue becomes less of a factor, because your DPS is better when you just keep swinging and don't even use any Activated abilities.
Having said that, if you don't have any DLC, Wade's Superior Dragonbone Massive Armor is a good choice for the endgame. If I'm not mistaken, I had <15% fatigue with the entire set on.

Blood Dragon if you have it. Otherwise, I like the Legion of the Dead or Massive Dwarven Armor (set bonus to amor) with the Helm of Honleath.

I prefer the Warden Commander's armor on my DW warrior. It has some decent stamina boosters to help negate the fatigue penalty but I'd wear it even if it didn't based purely on its looks.
Dwarven armor is too ugly to even consider wearing, though Oghren looks ok in his Legion outfit.

See that's why I can't decide. With pumping my Dex for the DW talents I still only have a 35 str at lvl 13.
The Dragonbone Plate needs 42 str
The Dragonbone Chain needs 38
The Blood Dragon Armour needs 38.
Any way I choose I still won't be able to use anything until I level 1 or two times.

OK so I chose the Heavy chain and WOW!
Fully armored my fatigue is NEGATIVE. All my abilities actually cost less to use. AND it gives +25 stamina to boot. Dragonscale armor is the best!

Plate looks far more badass ! The minor gain of stamina on lighter armors doesn't worth the look your character has in a full plated armor, imo ^^

Bump.
What about King Cailan's armor for DW warriors? It has a crazy -25% fatigue bonus when worn as a set. I'm comparing the stats to Wade's set on DA Wiki and I'd think King Cailan's armor would be better. Just curious. Maybe I'm overlooking something.
Thanks in advance!
