Before you start calling in the Exorcist, I have a reason for picking up Stinging Swarm: The Archdemon is all but immune to Spirit Damage. The only element it's marginally weak to is Nature, so Stinging Swarm is my Archdemon killer. Not a good one, I suppose, but it's better than trying to Arcane Bolt the thing to death, now isn't it?

I guess. I can't say I've ever felt like I needed a "killer" spell for the Archdemon; it's such an easy fight compared to the other dragons.

Well, I could just auto-attack it to death, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the Arcane Warrior thing. It's a personal preference.

Depending on your playstyle and need of Mana regeneration you could swap Cailan's Armor, Spellweaver and Fade Wall for Evon the Great's Set with Helm of Honnleath and Cailan's Arms. You will only have 1.75 Health Regen instead of 5.0 but a whopping 7.75 Mana regen (2.0 with your setup). The alternative setup is less heavy and thus comes with a little less fatigue at the cost of less armor. Your setup is more flexible when it comes to arms, the other one regarding the helm piece. I'd say a build around Cailan's Armor favors the warrior aspect, the other one the spellcaster.

This is all about personal taste though, and your build is looking really solid anyway in my opinion.

I was actually planning on using the Evon the Great's Mail/Wade's Superior set with the Helm of Honnleath originally. However, that set only gives +1 Combat Health Regen. Cailan's Armor Set, on the other hand, gives a whopping 5 Combat Heath Regen. Basically, when using Blood Magic, my health drops down when I use any spells, but then almost immediately jumps back up thanks to the Health Regen. Since I prefer to wade into the fray and be up close and personal with my enemies, Cailan's Armor is a safer choice, as it allows me to throw around spells with Blood Magic while still keeping my health up to survive any hits I take.

To be quite honest, I'd love to have the Helm of Honnleath instead of Cailan's Helm. However, the Health Regen I get with Cailan's Armor is something I'm not willing to pass up.

As for weapons, Cailan's Arms is fine until I can get the Spellweaver/Fade Wall. Once I switch over to Blood Magic, Mana Regen becomes useless to me, as all my spells are being cast using my Health instead of my Mana. I therefore don't mind losing the amazing Mana Regen given by the Cailan's Arms set.

Finally, about the build looking really solid: thank you. I wasn't sure it was any good. It's nice to know I can put together a solid build.

And while Cailan's set is fine, I prefer to be able to switch out helms if needed (eg; Corruption), and adjust the armor for other requirements if desired (Evon & Wade's Superior). Plus, one should also check the final Fatigue cost, as I believe some armors may be more user friendly than others when the bonuses are applied.

I am simply grateful for options.

Cailan's Armor Set tops out at +18% when it's Dragonbone. Not as user-friendly as the Wade's Superior Heavy set, but as I said, I prefer the Health Regen. I do see your point about the Helm, but a stack of Greater Spirit Balms will do almost the same thing without needing the helm slot.

As I said: I'd love to have the Helm slot open. However, no other set gives the same Health Regen, and for me, that's more important.

I have an update: Miasma sucks. Oh, it's great in theory, but the fact that it turns off when you zone, combined with the fact that it has a 30 second cooldown before I can use it again, just completely kills it for me.

Right. Because obviously, there are only two alternatives here: find a killer spell to take down the Archdemon, or auto-attack it to death. I could doubtless find a number of posts from people who do advocate building a straight auto-attack AW, but whatever. That wasn't my point at all.

I simply find glee in finding spells that annoy Snaggletooth during the final confrontation. Cone of Cold always is good, and so is the first tier Cold spell when backed by decent Cold bonus equipment; always gets a good roaring review.

And when the ballista fail, Blizzard and maybe Inferno and Tempest are effective at raising draconic ire if it is lonely and waiting for a hug. Not certian of hexes or Glyphs, but they seem to annoy others.
