I let her shoot Niket in about 8 out of 10 playthroughs. It has to do with that I know the outcome but I think it's a better experience for her and she gets to take events into her own hands. But I did wonder what the difference would be with stopping her, so I did that last night.
I also let Mordin shoot Maelon (iirc) all the time. It is what Mordin would do.
