I have been going nuts with this since the beginning. I find I have little choice but to ask here:

I am trying to use the curve editor to adjust weight in the middle of a facial animation. I select the animation,  add "key selection" , start editing the curve and all of a sudden the entire actor position changes. (as if I had added a position/orientation key) The only way I can get out of this mess is to undo things. I do use keys to position actors, (without relation to the keys I wnt to use for the weight curve)  but I am not sure how to add a specific key for weight editing without messing with the characters positions in space!

I would appreciate any help. this has been nagging at me for a while now.
Thanks

Make sure you've selected the animation bar on the timeline (check it's highlighted in blue) before you open the curve editor. Then once it's open, double-check it's still highlighted and only then create the key. Cutscene editor can be bit flakey in this regard and keyframe quite different things you're actually intending to keyframe.

There's also another potential issue -- some of the animations do change position/orientation of character compared to neutral pose. This means adjusting the weight of such additional pose will change the orientation and/or position because you're effectively changing how much the new postion/angle affects the basic position/angle. There isn't much that can be done about it as far as i can tell, other than countering this change by adding extra position/angle keys and/or adjust the existing ones. (turning off GAD for the animations you're blending in can make a change too, but that's something to use on case-by-case basis)

Oh man, what a **RELIEF*. I used to select the animation event when using the curve editor, and figured that was enough.. I didn't now I had to be obsessive about it :) It works! thank you so much.

Yes I have experienced the counter positioning of some animation combinations. It gets tedious to try and get them to run smoothly but I don't have much choice in the matter (if I want to be stubborn of course)
