Who thinks Alistair is awesome? I do!!! He is buff, funny, sarcastic, funny, and to most women, attractive... And lest we forget, funny. Of course, I am innocent with anything to do with himImage IPBImage IPB

Well, what are you opinions on Alistair?

Dont forget he has Daddy Issues, Duncan Issues, abandoment issues, longs desperatly for anyone to accept him after getting kicked out at 10, is mind warped by Chantry teachings, will kill people out of spite and not think many things through very well. He also is not very merciful see Zevran, Shale, blood mage in tower he wants to kill, and Jowan, and Loghain. Besides that you know pretty O kay guy

What? You can't blame him for being the way he is when he's been shunned and mocked his entire life, save for Duncan who becomes like a father to him. He only protests at bringing Zevran and Shale with because of the danger of it, but doesn't suggest killing them. He has never expressed a desire to kill the blood mage in the Tower, or Jowan either (you lose approval if he's unhardened), so I don't know where you get that from. Loghain kills the only family he's ever had, and along with them the only person who has ever cared about him. How is Alistair wanting to kill Loghain any different from the HN wanting to kill Howe?

I am not trying to be a troll and I geniuly find Alister to be a good friend in game and quite funny. However instead of being a blinkin GREY WARDEN when the cards are down, when things do not go his way he storms off. If he can accept my Mage who let a blood mage loose, or my Dwarf Commenor who flat out loved being a thug, the Landsmeet just seems to be a little out of charachter (just found out the OOC means that this weekend go me)

5% of my hate goes to Alister the rest goes to Morrigan for those not in the know.
I am going to watch firefly for now so relaxing it is.

Its funny how people bash him for being a whiner and weak and then when he finally stands up for himself and HIS believes they are mad too because they dont happen to like it....Image IPB

I like it when people stand up on their own, but not when the freaking archdemon is knawing at ones knickers.

Loghain tried to kill you every step of the way and then suddenly its all roses and sunshine and he wants to help? Yeah right.....my PC doesnt buy it....so I fully understand Alistairs POV.
BTW I did one playthrough where I spared Loghain but it didnt change my mind on him Image IPB

But of course Im an Alistair fangirl to the core so ... Image IPB...

I do not hate Alister just the whole obsessing over Duncan things gets on my nerves, my human noble loses his whole home and family in front of him, and gets drafted against his will yet I dont gripe about it. Yet Alister goes on and on about losing Duncan.

hmmm.. let's see...
1. He does not trust an assassin who tried to assassinate the Warden and his party, and feels he should be shown no mercy. Makes sense.
2. He does not trust a giant rock golem who killed her former master and has disdain for humans and can seemly squash the Warden when she pleases. Oh and the control rod doesn't work. Makes sense
3. He does not trust a blood mage who tried to assassinate his adopted father, and feels he should be shown no mercy. Makes sense
4. He does not trust a man who basically committed regicide and turned his back on thousands, including many people in his own order (Wardens) and and feels he should be shown no mercy.

What is so unreasonable here? How many of you would turn the other cheek if this was real life and not some video game? I only spared Zevran because I wanted to be able to have all accessible party members. But if I didn't know some background on him by visiting the DA:O webpage, I would never, ever have taken the chance to trust him. Jowan, well I felt he was sincere but it wasn't my adopted father he tried to kill. Shale... well... I dunno. I was neutral to Shale. And Loghain, his crimes speak for itself. But I did want him to join to redeem himself and Alistair did annoy me with his hissyfit there I admit.

hmm I guess you succeded on your persuade check on me kessio. However the Landsmeet is still annoying, If Riordian had told us before hand instead of being Dr. Herp Derp it may have gone different. Alister places the Warden in command yet after being a horrible, muderous, violent, rascist, blood mage in one case this is what put him over the edge?

I believe that most of Alistair's problems can be put down to his being extremely young and inexperienced and desperately seeking love and family.

Apart from serving the story, his hissy fit at the Landsmeet is perfectly understandable. He sees the Grey Wardens as his surrogate family. Duncan saved him and gave him somewhere to belong. Loghain took that all away and now you're suggesting letting Loghain join his family! Of course he's going to object.

Wow, now I've convinced myself its not just a tanty ;-)

I read that last word wrong and went face first into the gutter.

Riordian:Let Loghain become a grey warden

Warden: M kay

Alister: NO!!!

Loghain: I think - (SMACK)

L:oh my, what is this? I dont even...

R:That was mature alister

W: Im sure Duncan would approve of throwing your small clothes..

AL:Its suddenly a little cold in here

guess what I am thinking! Cookies for the winner

see it from loghains POV hes an old war vet who would do anything to save his country.

I let Lohgain live because alistair wasnt thinking like a grey warden.*do whatever it takes to defeat darkspawn*rejecting a powerful recruit would not help them but accepting them would. Also they should have talked about the war ferelden had with orlais so more people could understand lohgain better.

Alistair to me was 65% ok 35% not ok.

I agree with Anora only once, Alister at the Landsmeet put his own feelings ahead of the Blight, points off Ali points off

I love Alistair. He makes a great romance for my female PCs and is my favorite romance AND a really great Brother in Arms for my male Cousland who for the first time has a friend his own age who doesn't think "teryn's son" first and friend second.

Umm asorted ladies, and gentlemen who play ladies perhaps we should move this to the Alister gush thread. If our wardens do continue in the next game, I wonder what will happen to drunk Alister?

The Devs have confirmed that he regrets running off later.

Yeah, I got pretty ticked with Alistair at that point. Roleplaying-wise, it took Alistair to get my character thinking like a Warden and making the Blight #1 priority. Then I make it so he doesn't have to be king. Then I keep Anora from executing him. And what do I get in return? He runs off and leaves me to handle the Blight myself. So much for all that duty crap he keeps talking about. I guess Duncan wasn't such a good father figure after all...
