Seriously though, if the PC got more options to vent about their backstory like the npcs to then it wouldn't be quite as grating to hear about Wynne's one regret and Alastair's Duncan grieving. The PC never gets any comfort but is expected to doll it out in mass quantities and that is the problem more than any one character's weak side - not being allowed to have your own.

But at least you can bonk some of your companions, is there no comfort to be had in that?

You can safely assume that your PC does all that and it's just not displayed in the game. Unless you really think that people who are traipsing across Ferelden for about a year only have things to talk about that would hardly fill an hour of conversation.

I liked DG's comment about players who whine about how their highly intelligent, incredibly rational, completely overpowered, all over fantastic, shiny pinnacles of awesome don't get to whine. You could use your imagination, you know.

I wish the main character got more backstory instead of just the origin and more options to talk about it, hell, any option to talk about it! it would have been great to actually know more about who you're romancing (Always and will be Alistair with a little Leliana on the side). I didn't mind Alistair's grieving so much, but he and Wynne are the only ones who actually cared enough to say sorry for what happened (Alistair apologized for being a baby and not really being there for you. If you play as a human Noble, Wynne apologizes and calls you My Lady) :/

Well it is over for my sister, and she is never going to play DA ever again as it seems.
She did very well, and won the Landsmeet, and had Anora's support, lied to her and had her whole plan laid out to be the queen. However it went quickly down hill near the end. Since she has watched Law and Order for 10 years she totally owned Loghain and then dueled him herself.

She won and was all like : , then however Alistair said "KILL HIM", making her go . Then Riordian, who my sister thought was smexy wanted him to be a warden and Alistair flipped out and my sister then went .  Luckily she hardened him, but with his whole rant she just lost it, since she will not kill a defenseless person in cold blood, when she relized Alistair would however she went all: . So in short Loghain lived, Alistair married Anora, and she called him a name later at Arl Eamon's Estate.

When she got told the news about what happens in the killing of the archdemon she practically lost it at everyone and got really cheesed. But not as much as when Morrigan offered the DR, to which she went:
and told Morrigan to GTFO. Got to the archdemon and did better than I did my first time, and sent Loghain off to his end, and all she said was "Wow he was so much cooler than anyone else in the party, wish I could have had him earlier." At the coronation she comforted Anora, and went to repair the grey wardens, and brought Zevran and Leliana along too. However she again was snotty to Alistair and wow was he rude to her.

After getting the credits she then got up and said she is not playing ever again, and that she hates Alistair, Morrigan, and wants BIoware to go die in a fire. So she really got cheesed and now I am trying to get her to start Awakening, so far she wont even talk to me about it though.

I just don't see how you guys can be pissed off at/hate Alistair. He's just doing wha he feels to be fair, just and right. It's true, he has a confidence problem and he does grieve the loss of his surrogate family (Duncan and all the other GW) but there are people in this world with the same tihings going on with them....do you hate them, too? 'Cause if you do, you have no compassion for your fellow man....shame on you!

People call Carth in KOTOR whiny but once you help him, he is good. Alistair complains about alot in the game but by the time the coronation rolls around everything is good. You want whiny try listening to two girls argue about wheter to watch American Idol, or next top model.

I think Alistair is a great character, definitely one of my favourites. His goofy sense of humour usually gets a few smirks out of me.

His priorities are a little peculiar though. Love interest, then duty, then way above anything else: KILL KILL KILL Loghain. Not that I can't understand it given his messy childhood and loss of an important father figure.

To me, Alistair is a brilliant, but flawed character. But then I like flawed people in RPGs, it makes them more believable.

I suppose he is quite physically attractive - shame they used his face on about 5 other significant npcs.

I think i was disappointed in general with the men on offer - i'd like a slice of Duncan, Sten or Nathaniel please. Real men!

His romance is very enjoyable and impossible to resist unless I play as a male warden. It's not about mothering for me...that is very wierd....



I think he's sexy, charming, heroic, self sacrificing, considerate, strong, kind, great accent, vulnerable, gorgeous, smart though he pretends he's not and funny. He has a lot of good qualities that cannot be found in one man alone in the real world...or if this man does exsist, he's very rare.
