It really bothers me that Shepard is basically a common thief in ME2.

On Omega he loots every apartment in the quarantine zone, then tells the human looters that "stealing from the dead is pretty low".

On Horizon he boldly states that "the collectors aren't getting away with more colonists!" then stops to hack every colonist's bank account and crack open all of their wall safes before proceeding to try and save them. Even Miranda commenting "we're running out of time" doesn't persuade him that saving the colonists might be a higher priority than stealing their stuff.

Of course I could RP a Shepard who doesn't steal things, but there's no "paragon" way of recouping the lost credits. Also, shouldn't Shepard get renegade points for all this looting if he does do it?

I hope that in ME3 BW come up with a way to make money which doesn't break the suspension of disbelief so badly.

The council or Cerberus doesn't fund me properly, so I am want all the credits I can get.

Besides those colonists are going to get turned into goo, they don't need that money

"Of course I could RP a Shepard who doesn't steal things" We'll then if you can admit that then the discussion is over. Shepard is only a thief if you decided to play him/her like that.

Common People Looting for Greed = Bad

Shepard Looting for money to defeat the things that will destroy the universe = Bad but if he doesnt were all screwed.

It´s a game, get over it. Or you could imagine that all the credits you stole are given to you by Cerberus instead. You also stole the biotic investigation they were doing in pragia, and in ilium on the eclipse base, but no company is sueing you for stealing their research, aren´t they?

As a great man once said: "Being the stalwart hero of the land basically overrules society's petty ownership rules"

When you go to the citadel for the first time in ME3 C-sec arrests you for all those thefts.

I'm the hero of this story I'm entitled to anything the person has in a wallsafe or crate.

That's how it seems to be with most games. The only time I remember a character calling you out on it was in Jade Empire.

Bring a man back from the dead: several billion credits

Outfit that soldiers with the best armor and weapons, equaling a few hundred thousand credits? Nope...

Build the most advanced ship in the galaxy: several hundred billion credits

Outfit that ship with good weapons and armor? Nope...

Epic fail much?

I don't think there's anything on the insurance papers which states that you're covered if your planet is invaded by insect-like bugs and the the hero there to save you takes money out of your account.

This did bother me too but I'm on old school RPG gamer and this reminds me of days when you just play your character the way you want, without looking for a reward at the end. Besides paragon type plays always have less money, its a fact. The good guys don't steal **** so they're poor lol.

It would be nice to see Paragon points awarded for not stealing and Renadage points for stealing but I think it should be situational. Like taking abandoned stuff is fine but looting someone's apartment would be bad. This was an element that was in several RPGs in the past few years and I kind of miss it.

Well, look at the alternative funding source: giving tech to Cerberus for bounties.

So... Shepard can be (a) a thief or (B) giving tech to terrorists.

Either the council or Cerberus pays up for all of my weapons and supply needs and certain luxuries, or else I will keep looting.

OR, I have a better idea, why can't I sell the 80,000 pounds of platinum I have just sitting around on my ship?

You know, it's a great word to throw at them to express distrust or distaste, these days especially, but...is there some actual terrorist activity Cerberus gets up to in the novels? I've seen them engage in some pretty bullsh!t field experiments to establish the viability of lines of research, but no actual activities whose purpose is to, well, terrorize for political gain.

To whom? What's the price for a kilogram of platinum on Omega? On Ilium? On the Citadel? What are the import tarriffs? Are you licensed to trade there? Do you need to be? What makes you so sure the ship carries ~230 tons of cargo - it seems more reasonable to assume they're a smaller measure than pounds?
