I am thinking of building my Assault Sentinel with tech focus and hardly any biotic support.

However, it all really depends on the proportion of armored enemies to shielded ones. Does anyone have any clue as to how many enemies are armored to every shielded enemy? I would appreciate it.

It would be nice if a dev could answer this but it seems to me that most of the enemies are shielded.

No biotic support? Why? I don't really keep count how many enemies have shields compared to armor so i can't really help you there.

Well I will have biotic support, obviously, as I am a Sentinel. Here is the build I was going for.

Heavy Throw - 4

Warp - 1

Assault Armor - 4

Area Overload - 4

Full Cryo Blast - 4

Guardian - 4

But if Overload is more situational than warp (which it obviously is, but my criteria differs) then I should swap the points from Cryo into Warp.

Actually i would go with this.

You know i also noticed that having loyal kasumi and thane with you makes one badass team, since i was doing my hardcore run through in the collector base, i didn't die once when i had them along. I had kasumi always do her sneak cloack attack and thane just pretty much beasted on everyone. I am going to try out different teams like loyal garrus and thane, kasumi and garrus, or miranda and thane and see which one works the best.

Kasumi always accompanies me when Harbinger is around.

I really don't know if the ratio of shielded to armored enemies leans more toward one way or the other, but it certainly feels like I'm up against shielded enemies more often. If you're looking for a mostly tech build for a sentinel, but still want something to damage armored enemies, consider your bonus power options. Foremost is armor-piercing bullets which can up your damage against armor up to 70% when fully maxed. Alternatively, there's the biotic warp ammo, which will get you damage against barriers, armor and health. Then there's Zaeed's inferno grenade, which is really a good bonus power in the hands of someone who knows how to aim it properly.

Tough question to answer. The reality is that most missions lean
extremely heavily one way or the other (with Collector mission leaning
towards a mix of armor and barrier). Shields aren't really a big deal if
you bring someone that has Disruptor squad ammo (which IMO is right up
there with Inferno as one of the best ammo powers in the game), and
Barrier is not a large factor that needs special consideration outside
of Collector missions.

Since you're playing Sentinel, my suggestion is to just respec into Warp for Collector missions and keep Overload for the rest. The only catch is that you won't be able to respec for the Horizon mission, so either bring Jack with squad Warp ammo and spec Overload for the missions leading up to that, or spec Warp early and bring Miranda, Garrus or Kasumi for Overload duty until after Horizon. The split between armor and shields is pretty even in the missions before Horizon so that's a consideration you're going to have to make for yourself.

That's not at all a bad idea. I could completely leave biotics out. It would be really interesting.
Maybe go like this:
Throw - 1
Warp - 0
Assault Armor - 4
Area Overload - 4
Full Cryo Blast - 4
Guardian - 4
Heavy Warp Ammo - 4

I like that a lot actually.

I know this is the most practical route, but I like to play with no respec's for an added challenge.

You can't get Jack's squad warp before Horizon.

And everybody knows you haven't played Insanity unless you've played NG+ Insanity.

No, you can't.
Even in NG+ you have to win your squadmate's loyalties. She'll have 29 skill points, but her bonus power is locked. There are no loyalty missions available before Horizon (except for Zaeed and Kasumi of course)

On which difficulty are you playing? On Insanity, there are some shielded enemies by many more armored ones in comparison to Veteran. I'd rather depend on my squadmates for Overload more than for Warp.

Most common are shields and armor. Biotic barriers are a rare curiosity, except on collector levels (in which case, using the re-spec might be worth it, honestly.)
