It depends, when I began playing RPG's some years ago I played male characters (I'm male), but now it's something like 40% male, 60% female.
In WoW however I always play female (unless I want to play as a mighty warrior, with I rarely do), I just prefer starring hours at a females a**, ah I mean back, then a male one. :P

Both, but my "canon" characters tend to be female.

My main characters are usually male as I am. However, I'm all for making a female character later down the line.

to the people who think your gay playing female
1 what dous it matter let them
2 i played both and i figured out that there where sutle diferences  especialy city elf origin
3 stop judging people dont call people gay when you dont even  now them
if you call poeple gay on a groundles statement like this your basicly insulting them
so i say both its all good

i am not sexist but i do have the feeling only man can be evil
like blood mage reaver etc

I always play female character in any game, if the game don't have female main character, i won't buy it.

Warriors are male is wrong, in the history of my people, women are warriors too. In fact, my people have wmen admiral in the past, the one and only woman admiral in human history, her name was Panglima Kemala Wati, from Acheh.

We also have Ratu Ungu, Ratu Hijau, Ratu Biru...the Queens of Pattani/Langkasuka. Tun Fatimah, Melaka Sultanate warrior-princess and many more.

So, it is not odd for me to play female warrior character in RPG game, only that in Dragon Age there is a little sexist about it....such as Arl Howe, Alistair and Sten dialogues. There is no such thing for my people seeing a woman carrying weapon and fighting, we call women fighters as Srikandi.

I'm a guy, but all of my characters in DAO are women. Why? Because in all the other Bioware's RPG i've always played with a male character, so i wanted to change, for once. Also, it seems like i'm unable, in this game, to create a male character who doesn't look like an ugly retard, or a beggar, or an ugly retard who is also a beggar. <.<
