I've seen the stats for this item and it seems very good, but there seems to be a lot of confusion about it on the internet. Does it start in your inventory? Do you have to do some quest? Some people say its a throw away item that will be easily replaced like the pre order bonuses ( which seems unlikely after looking at its stats ) and some say it will be "end game" quality.
Has any information about these items been revealed yet?

I think the answer is: "No one knows for sure". The Devs know, but they most likely won't tell you. So you'll probably have to wait for the release to find out. Consider it a great surprise ;D

I guess so, knowing how they work might have convinced me to get the CE version though

it's an end game item and won't be in your inventory off the bat according to excerpts I read from devs about the CE bonus items. Can't remember where I read it off hand but will post a link if I can find it
here's the wiki's info on it tho dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Helmet

Some of the DLC items appear in your inventory, others (usually the more powerful ones) appear later in the game, and even then you may still need to buy some of these from a merchant as you do other game items (usually at a huge discount as compared to its power though).
For the same reason you don't get (and I don't think anyone would expect) the DLC loot from Warden's Keep to just pop into your inventory just because you purchased that DLC. You still have to begin that quest, journey there and look for it. In some cases, you may only find a particular item if you made certain choices, or after completion of the quest, or looted a specific chest squirreld away somewhere.[/quote]so from what Mr. Melo says coupled with the items description it's pretty safe to say you won't get til late in the game

Yes there was an excellent websource, grey wardens blog or something that had info on all 3 CE item's and their potent end-game abilities. One comment I read stated that Bergen's Helm in particular was considered one of the best if not the best end-game helms a character can use. So I have reason to believe for game-breaking purposes that the helm at least won't be available for a good portion of the game.
