I'm pretty sure my party's going to be stuck with me, Alister, Morrigan, and Wynne unless I make someone else a tank.  I'm usually controlling Morrigan or myself for maximum damage (I'm two-handed so I don't need Sten), Wynne means I'm never wiping again, and I still need a tank.

Guess I'll be the tank next game so I can switch people out.

Or you could be a mage, and have NPCs in both melee slots. And yes, Shale makes a great tank.

So basically if I chose melee theres nothing I can really do without gimping my team by replacing a healer or mage?

I don't understand the question. If you're a warrior, you can bring either of the rogues, Morrigan and Wynne. If you're a rogue, you have all the warriors to pick from.

I was having fun with my rogue, Alistair, Zevran and Leliana and lots of health pots /poison/traps - but its a group thats not so good for bosses. So I've been running back to switch my party before a boss. Then I run Morrigan and Wynne with Alistair. Sometimes I switch out Morrigan with Oghren or Dog. I haven't gotten Shale yet and I never take Sten. Dunno why.

My problem is that I'm literally stuck with myself, Alister/Shale as the tank, Morrigan, and Wynne as my party without much I can change. I sometimes use Leliana instead of a tank if I don't feel like going back and getting all the chests somewhere, but this whole 4 party members thing just bugs me.

You can always rotate, its pretty flexible. I go with my rogue + Shale as tank + Wynne and Morrigan. It annoys me sometimes that I have all this tanking gear for nothing, so i switch shale with alister on some fights just for the fun of it :). but in general, i think Shale is a better tank.

well i got same problem.. im 2hndr dps and wanted morrigan for her spells + romance.. but felt i kinda missed 1 healer or 1 rogue for loot.

played most part without a healer(damn hard) and had an easy time after i specced morrigan into spirithealer and groupheal.

btw.. using ice storm alot helps to keep ur party alive.. without a healer.

I only gave Morrigan one healingspell (the first one that costs 20 mana)! On Normal difficulty I think it's quite enough - if you use potions from time to time too! Wynne is only needed to heal on some bosses like False God Andraste, Flemeth and probably in the final battle.

This means you don't nessecarily need a "Fulltime" healer for your group!

yeah if u play carefull an one-heal spell for tank etc is enough.. but if ppl make mistakes or are pretty careless (raise hands) a ocasionall group heal can save alot and mean difference between death and win on normal mob packs

You do not HAVE to have both Morrigan and Wynne in the same party at all times. Give Morrigan a basic heal and trade Wynne for someone else; or, ditch Morrigan, make sure Wynne has some form of CC, and fill the last slot with another melee.

Well I say have to because the party is infinitely worse without a tank, mage for damage/cc, and a healer.  I'm pretty sure the toolset lets you increase party size so I'll probably wait for a hack to come out and just play on hard or something, but its still annoying that the party is so inflexible.

I was about to change to hard mode too, but the game just got spicier around level 14 to where I really do need the party that I mentioned.

I was a warrior and took Morrigan for DPS mage and romance, Wynne for healing, and Leliana as bow and arrow gal for traps and chests and awesome dialogue for my lil love triangle. I really wished I could have taken at least 5 people with me in a party, I just needed a tank in my party to help me out.

I swap characters all the time, I'm playing a Rogue/Bard/Assassin right now and have had Leilana and Zevran in my party with Shale...or with Wynne. Those are fun times, but can be frustrating with bosses, as someone mentioned. Usually I do the 2 tanks, my Rogue and a Mage combo.

playing on normal, 3 mages and a bard, no tank, wynne heals (and uses earthquake for cc/damage), Morrigan and me aoe and cc (death cloud and mass paralyze from me, blizzard and sleep from morrigan) and Leliana just hangs around to open boxes (badly, seems 23 cunning at level 12 ain't enough, even with 4 ranks in lockpicking).

occasionally i switch wynne for alistair (did the first deep roads run that way), no heals, Alistair tanks (and drinks health pots like a herd of camels), Me and Morrigan CC/Aoe, and Leliana still hangs around and opens boxes.

works fine mostly, altough the Carta mission final fight took 3 tries to get right (should have skipped bear form (that i never use) and gone for the lightning storm or whatever the lightning tree aoe was).

For me, Alistair to tank and the useful shield bash attacks, Leliana for archery and poison (nice counter archer), and Morrigan for crowd control. Works well. I even use Morrigans shapechanges as long as it takes for her mana to regen. Works well and its fun.

Me, I'm a 2h warrior that there to take out yellow creatures and bosses. The tough, heavly armored enemies. The party can pretty much handle anything.

You have to have a healer? I didn't know that beat the game on normal with my char 2hander warrior, Alistar, morrigan (didnt even assign her a healing spell) and oghren. You dont have to have a healer this isnt wow. If you spend the extra time thinking out the battles you can usually get a way with little to no potion use except on major battles/ boss fights.

You do however practially have to have a mage.

nah, healer is optional, get some healing pots instead, can be though on enemies who knockdown though.

some groups do better without healer than other though, but it by no means absolutely needed

I took the heal spell and latter I like to get the stamina regen spell as well for my 2h warrior. Got to get as many massive swings as possible. ;)

Indeed Indominable is so o.p. Im ditching alistar on my next playthrough though, by the end of it my warrior was a better tank than his lame butt. The real trick keeping morrigan mobile, if you load her up with CC skills shes able to keep a small army immobilized single handedly so who needs a low dps tank/healer?
