So I´m just in the Dead Trenches where you kill the Broodmother and something is curious. Hespith talks about betrayal by Branka, and that she doesn´t want to turn like Laryn AND BRANKA.
This would lead you to the assumption that Branka must either be a Broodmother, too, or has allied herself with the Darkspawn. But when you meet her you see clearly that neither is the case.
So what is Hespith talking about? I only have two explanations:
Either she is even more insane than you would think, or there is a plothole.
If you have another explanation, please share.

I thought she meant in a moral sense, like she didn't want to become an **** like Branka, then I realized that she was becoming a broodmother herself. I still think that's the case though it's weird and doesn't make much sense since nothing is mentioned in the epilogue other than the fact that Branka is infact a giant ****.

I think Hespith's comments relate to her 'the greatest abomination si not that it occurre but that it was allowe' line (paraphrased, said after defeating Laryn). Branka essentially sold-out her entire house, including Hespith, her lover, to the darkspawn in order to have an endless supply of darkspawn (genlocks in this case) to test Caridin's traps. The impression I got was that while Laryn became a monster, and Hespith is becoming one, Hespith sees Branka as perhaps the greatest monster of them all, no better and perhaps even worse than the darkspawn.
I have to admit, when I first played that I had similar expectations to you, though, that Branka had become a Broodmmother, or allied directly with the darkspawn.

Well something odd has happened to Branka as she is a dwarf but can use magic and power herself up at the various --lyrium veins. -- scattered around the cavern.

The odd thing is that Branka doesn´t CONTROL the darkspawn - if she did, she wouldn´t allow them to attack you, and she wouldn´t allow you to kill the Broodmother.
On the other hand, an alliance with them is the only way she could have survived for years, all alone.
Somehow it doesn´t make sense.
Oh, and Bhramsay, the crystal things are lyrium veins.

Branka allowed her own kin to become darkspawn in order to test Caradin's traps to see if there was a way to get around them and get to the Anvil itself. When your PC arrives and kills the Broodmother, it proves that your party is probably strong enough to get through the traps and open the way to the Anvil.
Loss of the Broodmother is no big deal to Branka since she still had Hespith to turn into a Broodmother later on, if necessary. Remember, Branka already had a control rod fashioned that would disable Caradin; she had this planned from the outset and knew she would have to kill Caradin to get the Anvil.
Yeah, Branka is one nasty piece of work - I've never sided with her! Ever! Off with her head! Crazy b****!!!

Yes, in the numerous waves of darkspawn as you are just entering the past Branka's final camp - the ones that all seem to go to that back wall. She's standing behind it, and every other wave or so she gives dialog justifying her actions - like allowing her house to be taken by darkspawn to become broodmothers so that they would continue to serve her in breaking the traps, and some other nasty tidbits. Following the darkspawn back to that wall is somewhat counter-intiuative, but if you do you get to hear her tell you about her efforts and motivations somewhat over the din of battle. I think this is the betrayal that Hespith speaks of - and the madness that she doesn't want to become.

She doesn't want to become a monster. Branka's as much of a monster as the Broodmother, or more, just not physically...Tirigon wrote...
