I was doing some Citadel quest, i think its called "Citadel: Homecoming"

It's about a soldier who died in Eden Prime killed by the Geth. Apparently, they are running tests on the body and her husband doesn't know about it so he requested my help to see what was going on.

So, I go to the Embassy Lounge, spoke to this guy called Clerk. In his defense he says that the body could help save more lives because the wounds are quite special and it could help developing defenses against Geth attacks. Okay, until here everything is fine.

I told Clerk that the husband should know about this and decide what he wantst to do  with the body. Obviously, Samesh (he is the husband of the lady who died) doesn't like the idea so I go back and tell Clerk that i am releasing the body. Okay.... perhaps i threatened him but... well... I think i did the right thing to do from a moral point of view...

Why do I get renegade points? :(  I'm loyal to the Alliance and i ackowledge all the soldier thing.. but too much is too much!

Because your approach was to bowl right over him and the standard procedures, unilaterally releasing the corpse on your sole authority.

It's not "evil", just "aggressive" in opposition to Paragon's "cooperative".

Oh, thanks. I see. Perhaps i should keep in mind that Renegade=Agressive Paragon=Cooperative mentality next time. Thinking in terms of "good" and "vil" it's a bit childish :P

Pretty much - Renegade isn't a Dark Side meter, it's a gauge of your reputation as an at-all-costs, my-way-or-no-way asskicker. You can do good things, but you do them your way - quickly, and by threat of force or force itself.

Notice that it's not a slider with Paragon on one end and Renegade at the other, but two completely separate bars. You can accumulate points in both without affecting the other.

Paragon is more of a diplomat and renegade is more of the rough 'em up type.

Paragon is about mercy while renegade is about pragmatism.

We could create a list. Words to describe paragon / Words to describe renegade.

If you use the intimidate option (the orange/red answer) you almost always get renegade points, doesn't matter what the topic is about. And the same thing with the charm option (blue answer), you almost always get paragon points when you choose it.

Red stands for evil. Evil is red I guess.

Yeah, but as Christmas Ape said, i think it's more complex than being good or evil because in this quest I don't think why i got renegade points (Yes, i used the red intimidation dialogue after unsuccesful attempts at reasoning with the dude :P) so, if i the reason i got renegade points is that I used the renegade option is okay but i think i did the "good" thing.

I agree with you, just poking fun at the morality system. Its a bit silly.

It's color coded so that simple people wont get confused or understand the system. After working in retail for so many years, I have learned that people don't like to read but work well with colors (Red lights, green lights, yellow lights).

Even my girlfriend works better when I describe the Xbox buttons as the green, red, yellow and blue buttons as opposed to Y, X, etc.

You can get both ways paragon point from that mission. It's all about how you present it for both side. Like people allready sayed, paragon is more like diplomatic and empath way to deal situation even if the result is same. If You just go and say stuff without compassion, then you get renegade points. How ever, why you don't want renegade points?

I allways take both and are happy about it. It means I did at least present my case with reputation and fame. Also there isn't right choise, just what you think what was right choise.

I see.
Well, I don't care about getting renegade or paragon points. It's the second time i play mass effect 1 and i wanted to try different backgrounds. I'm surprised that i got renegade points because i think I did the "right" stuff. Butthen againt it might be my fault because perhaps there is no thing such as right or wrong :-m
