While traveling, entered a 'Superman' type scene with an old couple discussing raising a boy that came out of a crashed meteor. You get a meteor fragment after looting the mound.

Unfortunatly i think i either sold it, or something because i cant not find it in my inventory.

Question... what exactly is made with it??

sword (2-handed or Longsword) called Starfang. Go talk to the blacksmith in Warden's Keep after you clear it out. If you do have it (and it's just hiding from you), there'll be a dialog option for it.

Go to smith in Watchers keep, he can forge it. (it does not appear as an inventory item)

Sweet, i thought for sure in a selling frenzy i mistakenly got rid of it. Looks like Allistair is getting a new sword!

Is it one of the better swords in the game?

Absolutely. It's my weapon of choice for my 2 handing warrior. I don't have the stats in front of me, but the Damage is better than any other 2H Weapon I've come across so far and it has 3 rune slots.

Doesn't really matter but, the meteor metal ore will be in your inventory under plot items. :)

Dang, on my second playthrough and haven't seen that scene at all yet. Any clue as to the general area it happens in?

It's a random encounter when on the road between locations.

Also, the scene happens near the end of the game, I believe, as the sword is a Tier 7 item.

Oh, that is why I could never smith anything out of the meteor, I didnt realize it was the Warden's keep smith.

I assumed it would be Wade from Denerim which is the guy that uses up your drake scales. Nice to know it is a Warden's Keep item then.

Only annoying thing is I got the meteor fragment but don't have the Watcher's keep DLC =\\

Kinda odd its in the normal game and not unlocked by owning the DLC

I got the 2 hander on my lvl 8 warrior. Just did wardens keep as soon as i could then travelled back to start shales quest and got the fragment along the way.

I went back and got the sword. The genlocks that guarded shale I hit with critcal strike for 101 damage.

2H Starfang

38 Str Req.

Dmg: 18.70

Crit: 2.55

AP: 6.30

str mod 1.10

+3 Strength

+2.5 AP

+8 attack

3 rune slots.

The best 2 hander by a thousand miles (with probably Yusaris coming pretty close to it, when it comes to dragons). The 1H version is also pretty decent as well.

The requirement to get the event is to complete Warden's Keep I believe. On my first playthrough I did Warden's keep about 20-25 hours in and remember getting the event pretty late (though I did nothing with the ore).

This playthrough I did Warden's keep right out of Lothering, and got the Meteor very early on.

You can get it made into at least two weapons, by the way. I had him make it into a longsword as I planned to use it on my rogue, but I wound up giving it to Alistair. I'll come back later with the stats.

Not really. I got it almost immediately after Warden's Keep pretty much at the beginning of the game. Don't remember what level it was. I thiink the level of the sword  (tier) it is depends on what your level is when you get it. I believe items, like enemies, scale to your level.

I think the guy in WK  is a weaponsmith only, the guy in Denerim is purely an armorer.

The Encounter is pretty hard to get. I had to go between redcliff and mage tower quite a few times just to trigger it.

I got it early on as well, after completing Lothering, I then did Warden's Keep. It happened immediately after that for me. I made a one handed sword, not sure the stats, but the strength required was 31 for that. The damage it does is phenomenal.
