What is weird is that both want to now alister now, and when I told them they actually had to do quests they almost cried. Also my Dad somehow knew Bhelen was up to something, was creepy to see that.

I do the same thing to my friends then again this was about the books so he knows the full story about The Architect for Awakening

I'm sorry, guy. :( I was actually the one who did the game stealing. It was my husband's Christmas present and he only got as far as Lothering before I decided to play. I don't share well once I'm interested in something....lol!

I told my husband his laptop couldn't play it (his old one couldn't) and he got a new one but I didn't tell him that would handle the game. He sucks at WoW and drove me nuts when i used to play that to the point I don't want to play that anymore. I won't let him kill DA for me too. My youngest is grounded from the PC till her grades improve and my oldest has no interest in RPGs.

So I am the only one who really plays

It's amazing how many women play Dragon Age. Kudos to Bioware for making a bloody, morally grey game that appeals to women!

All I can say is, get your own copy for your laptop. I would go nuts if I had to share. No one touches my laptop, and no one borrows my copy of Dragon Age, or they lose some limbs!

I wish someone in my family played games like Dragon Age. No matter how hard I try the most I can get my mother to play is Animal Crossing, and nobody else in my family gives even that a try.

Rhys, it's not just Dragon Age. I've played Bioware games since BG1. I will confess I am evil impaired and tend to play relatively good characters (although my DC is no saint). As a female Bioware fan, I have never felt that I was alone. I think creating games with a strong story and tough moral choices is part of what draws in female gamers. I never much cared for shooters or games that required quick reflexes, but give me a good story and the need for strategy and I am hooked.

I had DA pre-ordered for 6 months before it came out, am on my 5th playthrough and have yet to let my husband have a turn. I offered to get it for him on the PS3, but we are both primarily PC gamers, so with one PC, he just has to wait. Kids are still too young for Dragon Age, so I am safe there. I have asked for a laptop for my birthday, so maybe my hubby will have a chance at playing this fall.

Complete ditto for me. Fan since BG1, not into shooters etc., love the morally grey and the top quality story. I may not be a woman but I am a gay guy and I have always felt that my mind works more like a woman than a man.

That's the great thing about Bioware, they can build great stories that appeal across genders, ages and preferences.

I will have to admit that as much as I loved BG2, DA has displaced it as my favorite game ever. I don't think I would ever have considered writing FF for BG2, and now I'm 40,000+ words into a Mahariel/Zevran story.

Agreed 100%

I'm a female that's been playing video games since I was 4 (I'm 27 now) and nothing has drawn me in like this has.  I tend to play Chaotic Neutral or Chaotic Good characters though.  I originally borrowed it on the PS3 and was completely hooked from the start.  I ended up buying it on the PC for all the wonderful mods that fix the bugs.  I just finished my fifth playthrough and am showing no signs of stopping!  My boyfriend played my PC copy for awhile, but thankfully we have 2 machines capable of running the game!

One thing I really enjoy is how a lot of things are not what they seem at first glance.  Like Harrowmont turns out to be a worse king than Bhelen in terms of Orzammar's future, but most "good" characters will pick Harrowmont.  Or Alistair's romance seems so sweet and loving because he says all the right words but if you examine it deeper it's rather shallow.  Zevran, on the other hand, is shallow on the surface, but ends up being more loyal than the dog, provided you take the time to befriend him (as a friend or romance interest).  I've also noticed that some characters are growing on me (or the opposite) as I play more.  Wynne seemed like the nice old grandma type at first and now I think she's a sanctimonious witch that needs to keep her nose out of my PC's business!  :innocent:

I will have to admit that as much as I loved BG2, DA has displaced it as
my favorite game ever.

It was Chrono Trigger/Final Fantasy 6 for me, but they have been dethroned at last!

Oh man... I don't know if I can say the same. I can say that BG2 and DA are in my top five favourites (along with Neverwinter Nights1, so I guess that makes me a bioware fan huh? :) ), but I don't think I could rank one higher than the other.

My fiance' and I both play video games. If we're playing the same
game, usually we just take turns and whoever is not playing at the time
goes off and does something else. It's all about compromise.I know
sometimes when a game is good you don't want to put it down but getting
up and doing something helps you put things into perspective and to cool
off if you're angry at the game for whatever reason.
If your family
keeps asking you questions about the game, remind them that one of the
good things about taking your time without help is that it makes the game experience their own
and also helps them understand the game universe better because they have to read the codex's.
Also, setting a time limit that each person can play for will give everybody a chance to play.
If all else
fails, buy the strategy guide and tell them to read it and to please
stop bothering you and then go for a walk or do something that will make
you busy and occupy your time while they play the game so they can't pester you.
Or buy another console and copy of the game.
I hope everything works out for you! [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Kinda funny, and I understand your plight, but on the flipside, having your whole family in on it is quite a feat in itself. It's just me and my woman, and she has absolutely no interest in gaming whatsoever, so when I do something cool or discover something, there's no one to discuss it with. And even when I email my best friend about something, there's not that sense of camaraderie. I can understand how it could be annoying at times, but don't overlook the rareness of the situation either.

Well my sister in never going to play again after her ending, Alistair Married Anora, dumped her, and Loghain made the ultimate sacrifice.

My other sister thinks Zevran is awsome and her elf mage nomed him.

My Dad is just out of Lothering, and my mom I also think is giving up.

Mostly it is fun to watch and get nostalgic about.
