Oh and for the love of all that is holy, keep "bromances" far far away - Not I have anything against gays, but if it turns out in ME3 I can't even be friends with same sex members of team without thinking of getting in their pants... Jesus christ

I don't think you understand a bromance. It's just a good friendship.

I want to romance a husk (Yes, the real Paris Hilton Experience, now in full nausea-inducing 3D), although I think Urz might be jealous.

And why do you think it is unbelievable that everyone wants to sleep with the hero? The savior of the Citadel? The hero of Eden Prime? What part of Shepard's story *wouldn't* open pants anywhere today?

This is true...except if your Shepard is a homosexual and wants to open the pants of a same gendered human...then it's a no go :?

Well Female Shepard can, remember Jib because anyone who went for liara as a female did it for the lesbo action!!!! :pinched:

She's not human though :P

+1!  That would be so much easier than chasing him all over the ship.

Humans can form attachments to objects (computers, imaginary people, the Berlin Wall), and there really isn't anything logical stopping romantic attachments to aliens.  At least they talk back.  The reciprocity might be questionable, but when has that every stopped Romance?  Being able to have a physical relationship isn't actually required, but when it is available, it certainly helps.  Not to mention (but I'm going to), the aliens all have millenia more experience in dealing with interspecies attraction.  It's not new to any of the alien races we see in the game.

P.S. Casey fails biology.  Seriously.

I have to agree with ya bit OP. You can't google image search anything about Mass Effect without running into some fan made porno... :sick:

That said while it is a bit odd to have all the interspecies relationships, they aren't totally infeasible. In a Cultural sense Quarians and Turians don't behave that abnormally compared to Humans. Quarians for example are rather human-looking, so it's not silly to see why a Quarian and Human could be attracted to each other. The problem with a Human-Quarian relationship is that they can't share food and can't safely have intimate contact at least for the Quarian. Those two things right there, along with both being Aliens should put the brakes on either one considering a relationship possible. However contrary to popular belief not all romantic relationships revolve around sex. There's no reason why a Quarian and Human can't still at least simply love one another.

Now a Turian-Human relationship is extremely odd. First off there is a bitter sort of resentment between the species over the First Contact War. It would be very odd for a Turian or Human to ever be more then friends. Also while Turians likely reproduce like humans, they aren't exactly mammals. Simply put there's really no kind of physical attraction to even warrant either species being interested in each other. I dunno a relationship between a Human and Turian has to be out of pure love for one and another. To me it seems rather silly, but I guess out of sheer need for a like-minded companion it could happen.

A Drell-Human relationship is basically in the same boat as a Turian-Human relationship, other then that Drell physically resemble humans a bit more then Turians do. Drell to me are Lizard-Men while Turians are Dinosaur -Men.

As for the Asari well there's really no reason why an Asari and Human can't have a relationship. Physically Asari are pretty much Human females minus the head fringe thingy. Of course seeing as how Asari can reproduce with any sapient being just about it, there's really no reason why they can't have a relationship with any species.
Basically if Captain Kirk landed on the Asari homeworld I doubt he'd never leave the planet, nor would most of us other guys. B)

I'll only be really alarmed if Bioware added a Salarian, Volus, Elcor, Hanar, Batarian, or Vorcha relationship. Those are just way too weird to happen IMO.

Basically...

Asari=Elves
Turians=Orcs
Salarians=Troglodytes
Quarians=Drow
Drell=Lizardmen
Volus=Dwarves
Vorcha=Goblins
Batarians=Gnolls
Elcor=Orges
Hanar=Kuo-Toa
and
Humans=Humans ^_^

*Cough* You mean, the Quarians look rather human as long as they don't actually take off their helmet and show you their canned-space-chicken beak? Just want to point out, apart from the face (Which we haven't seen yet), the Quarians look more like Turians than like Humans.

Anyway, humans are attracted to the weirdest things, like airplanes, or farm animals, or humans, or money, or that one clip I once saw that still gives me nightmares.

That doesn't mean that said airplanes return the sentiment. Aliens shouldn't even have emotions the same way we do.

Well okay Quarians have only 3 fingers and chicken legs. I'm pretty sure their faces are just like humans cause they a have two glowy eyes, a nose, and most likely a mouth. I doubt Quarians have beaks. Doesn't fit their head structure either. I don't think male Shepard is  the Colonel Sanders type anyways.

Also at the very least female Quarians have boobs. Female Turians probably don't. Just sayin... :whistle:

I'll be honest though, first time I saw Tali I figured she was some kind of Borg.

Not necessarily, certainly not all of them (Salarians for example), but while there is a good number of different end results (DNA wise) and a good number of different ways to conceptionalize something like a DNA in the first place (Unless you're going with the seeded life theory, which works about as well as any other, better than most actually), there are some things you can assume about a species that a) can afford the luxury of a big brain, and B) had a reason to develop one in the first place.
For example, it's fairly unlikely that a herbivore would be able to develop a particularly big brain (As long as the planets biology somewhat resembles that of our own, at least), so you can assume for example that most intelligent lifeforms from earthlike planets would be omnivores like us, or carnivores. Even more importantly, a species needs some sense of community or herd drive to develop language and logistics, which is one of the big steps towards intelligence as we know it, and one of the things that ensures a sense of community and an evolutionary advantage for those who develop in that direction is, well, a sex drive. Of course there are even on earth animals with a kind of sex drive we'd consider odd or at least not helpful in a communal sense that are nevertheless remarkably intelligent (spiders and squids are the two that come to mind).

Again, I'm not arguing that every alien we might meet out there would necessarily be a carbon copy of ****** sapiens, but you can extrapolate from what we know, and while ME DOES to some degree suffer from "humanswithsomecrapontheirface"syndrome, I think it's not far fetched that many, perhaps even most, species of alien could have a similarly wide range of... interests. Curiosity at least (Which in itself, is perhaps the most basic necessity of any intelligent lifeform).

Yeah Bioware went a bit nuts with that in ME2. I'd rather they take a more realistic approach for their future games. Things like:

Everybody's Available-You've got a crew full of important people with clout and none of them have a boyfriend/girlfriend? Stretching the truth a bit much there. Let's take everyone's favorite Tali for example. She's the daughter of one the most important people in her society and she helped save the galaxy, dudes would be knocking each other over to get to TZ. Tali would have her pick of the best quarian men the Flotilla had to offer but not only is she single she's still a virgin to boot. GTFOH!

I Only Have Eyes For Shepard-And on this ship with a bunch high status singles they've only want Shepard and no one else. This happens even if Shepard is taken. I'm sorry if I see Liara seeking into the captain's quarters I'm going to holla at Ashley and I know I'm not the only one. Kasumi's the exception but it's not enough.

Everyone's Open Minded-We have problems with intolerance with interracial dating on Earth and we're all humans, you're telling me everyone's cool with inter-species dating? Even if we can't have a "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" moment in ME3 you're telling me two radically different species like humans and turians would find each others features attractive? And even if that were so would they sacrifice the ability to have children for the inter-species romance? Thane, Samara, and Liara wouldn't have to worry about the last part but Garrus and Tali would.

-have to go. Games (game narratives at least) will definitely be better once they drop this male power fantasy stuff. Fixing things like the above will the give games the shot of maturity they need to transcend film for storytelling.

It's a game, a game marketed to sexually repressed nerds. It needs tp have romance at the expense of realism so the nerds will be happy and buy the next installments/games that the developer makes.

Bah.

Simply because Bioware offers you a wide range of options does not mean you are expected or even able to indulge in all of them. Nor do the presence of many options make your character a deviant.

You cannot boink everything. Even if every character in the game was boinkable. Bioware offers a wide range of options to please a wide range of people.
