I have the same problem as many of having switched consoles in the past and losing my ME1 save games. im going to do another play through on ME1 to transfer to ME2. If i download Mass Effect 1 from xbox marketplace will the save game it creates transfer to ME2 okay or should I buy a hard copy of ME1 to play through and transfer?
Live Marketplace downloaded ME1 file transfer to ME2?

it should work just fine, I know that for the save transfers that ME2 "creates" the transfer system based off of any save games in your Mass Effect folder.
I do know however that make sure you use the SAME profile that you played the game with to transfer your data on over or else you'll end up with the transferees gamertag as the creator of the save games.
