I'd advise against doing a sentinel with warp on insanity. Problem is that it causes you to miss out on an evolved power. Reave is right on par with it, and although it's a DOT power instead of a direct damage power, it offers more total damage and has a helpful secondary effect. The loss of detonations isn't as significant as it would seem.

Check the tooltips in game. Reave and Warp do exactly the same damage. I still think Reave is weaker. While it's true the incapacitate effect is good for pulling organic enemies out of cover, it only works on organics, and it only has a chance of working, at that. Yes, it heals you, but as a Sentinel, you should have your tech armor up at all times. You shouldn't have any health damage.

All of this comes from my experience playing a sentinel through hardcore for my youtube video series. I took Reave with that sentinel. It's okay, but if I had to choose again, I'd probably pick something different.

All that said, Reave may be good for an aggressive Sentinel. The health regen would definitely help. I don't really know, though, because I haven't tried an aggressive Sentinel. Not really my style. I leave that to my Soldier and Vanguard.

I'm really enjoying this topic, lots of good info from everyone!

That's a shame. The assault sentinel is pretty powerful. I'd rank it almost as good as a soldier, and definitely better than a vanguard close range  when you get a shotgun, at least in my opinion. Personally I don't notice the damage boost on reave compared to warp unless it's on the health bar. I know there supposed to be one, but I just don't see it either. Reave is good though since it's the only area effect power available on a sentinel that strips armor and barriers. All the other skills are single target or only good on shields.

Get the dlc if you don't have it. Kasumi lets you get your tech cooldown early in the game. I don't have the archon visor, but that headpiece will bring your cooldown a further 0.6sec for your assault armor. Which is pretty good.

With only 3 missions (Mordin, Garrus, Kasumi) and the tech upgrade in the Citadel you get the cooldown bonus. Otherwise (without Kasumi) you'll have to finish the disable collector ship mission to get it.

Another recommendation, after Horizon do  N7: Anomalous Weather Detected mission. There's the 3rd damage protection upgrade, wich unlocks hard shields research for Shepard.
