Why is everyone talking about Champion for a Warrior? I don´t see the point in that, to be honest.

You waste four talents only for a knockdown and a little attack / def....

The AoE knockdown is also an AoE debuff to the enemy's attack. Anyhow you can take Reaver too if you wish, probably better threat from frighten and more damage, probably little less tanky... but you can heal yourself too! Nice.

^^ I don't know. The more I play with Reavers the less I like it. Reaver has exactly 1 Talent that really stands out - Frightening Appearance. Devour is a waste - unless you are doing some sadistic no potions, nightmare playthrough. :) Aura of Pain sucks - no it beyond sucks. The last talent - Blood Rage sucks too. Big stamina cost for hardly anymore dmg. Lets flirt with Death?! WTF, the point is to kill your enemy before they hit you. Not lets stay at a really low health so I do an extra 2 points of dmg.

Hey some of us like sadistic no potions nightmare playthrough. You're underestimating blood rage, its pretty useful in those large battles.

Play Dwarf noble, its teh best character to start as any kind of warrior tank and it has good stats where you need them, has racial magic resistance and starst with talents in sword and shield tree.
If you want most buffing and survivability for your character go with Champion/Reaver. I would also suggest Templar/Rever or Champion for quite a bit more anti magic abilities and defenses.
But you want damage so here you go.

Sword and Shield Damage Build
Suggest Dwarf Noble or Human Noble as your Origin
Get your Dex to 26 and put all other points you gain in game into Str.
Most tank build only put in as much str as needed for gear and pump dex but the opposite is completly viable. You should end up with over 80+ Str
Get all your sword and shield talents with emphasis on getting shield wall fast.
classes your going to grab Reaver/Champion.
Champion, get all the abilitys this will give you a AoE debuff to attack and will knock everything down.
Also you will get a partywide buff to attack and defense.
Reaver you dont really need anything beyond the first two abiliys as teh first one is a heal and teh second is a long duration stun. Though the last two abilitys can significantly increase your damage potential. I find Aura of pain+threaten to be able to hold aggro on entire groups easy.

Pick up a good shield and a decent main hand weapon and your golden, I suggest the gear for return to ostagar DLC marics sword and shield work wonders, but Blightblood from Darkspawn cronicles and Starfang from wardens keep and Keening from the the unbound quest are going to be your best options. I suggest putting high damage runes in them for more damage.

***EDIT***
You generaly wanna stay away from Templar if your going for a damage build because it dosnt really increase damage and to each their own but I say stay away from Berserker tooo as yes it does add damage and health regen the problem is its on a 30-60 second cooldown and automaticaly turns off after every battle. I find it to be extremly annoying because either do without most battles in the game or activate it towards the end of a battle or what not its just really really annoying.

Also if you have the DLC Wardens Keep use Avernus research/Drink the Phial to get the powers of the blood.
The first ability will increase your damage by +25% DPS and attack speed by 20 and +10% crit when you use it and the second ability is a pretty big aoe knockback you can add to your repetoir.

^^ Zerker is extremely nice for a S&S & Dual Weld Warrior. Reaver/Champ/Templar is very level restricted unlike zerker.

Zerker is nice but you cant just run through content/chain your fight together well at all. If you want the full benefits your gonna have to wait like a minute between each fight doing nothing till Berserk pops back up.
Its extremly annoying and I regret ever getting it for my dwarf warrior.

The stats it gives you for selecting it are nice but it dosnt boost your damage very much, only +8 damage. I find its only real usefulness is in boss fights due to the decent health regen you can get in that state.

If you want bonus damage then grab the last ability in the Reaver Spec it adds +1 damage for every 10% health your down from your max(pretty accurate) so it can actualy do more for greater risk of course. I find Aura of Pain in Reaver to do TONs of extra damage from the spirit ticks 20 spirit damage a tick, 1 tick every 2 seconds AOE does far more damage then most people realise.  Of course hat with Threaten pulls aggro from everything extremly easily.

Its all personal choice of course but I highly suggest  Champion/Reaver for damage and versatilty.  Templar/Champion for support and survivability. Of course if you want PURE damage by sqeezing every little point of extra damage then Berserker/Reaver is the way to go then. I do not suggest this as it requires alot of ability management but it can certainly do lots of damage.
This is of course still talking about a Sword and Shield Damage Build Tank.
