I just bought used copy of Awakening and it is getting to the Check Save Data screen and staying there, Its not freezing, because I can still hit the PS button and it lets me quit game, but when I do it restarts my PS3. It does this with no other game, just this one.

Sadly retail version is broken, you should have bought it from PSN. Only downloadable version works normally now.

this occurs on the DA:O disc as well. it will sit on the "checking save data" screen for a long time (someone has reported it being stuck there for an hour or two, i have had it sit there for at least 5 -10 minuutes). it started happening after the first patch came out.

i've only notice this issue, though, if i have not played DA:O for a very long time. playing it consecutively within short periods of time will not cause the issue from what i've experienced.

I have 2 user profiles on my ps3. In the 1st profile, the one with the most characters including the two characters I have taken into Awakenings, its been getting stuck in the checking save data screen for up to 45 minutes. So last night I hit the ps button after 15 minutes so I could switch to the other profile (I have to admit I just got impatient). Now I have no loadable games showing on the 1st profile, although the saved games are still showing up in the saved data utility. The loadable games on the 2nd profile still show up. I've never been able to access online profile storage from my ps3 from either profiles. Anybody else experience this issue or have any ideas about how to load the saved files?

What are you talking about? Do people just make stuff up here, or what? I have the retail disc version of Awakening and it works perfectly.

@ OP, I havn't had it not be able to check my save data, but sometimes it takes like 30 seconds-1 minute. But I noticed something you might want to try. My TV is 720p/1080i, and when I was using Home, I wanted to use my picture in picture, and to use the small pip it has to be in 1080. So I made my PS3 stay in 1080i instead of switching to 720p. Well I went to Dragon Age after that, forgetting to switch it back to 720p, and I noticed that along with the game looking better forcing it to play in 1080i, the checking save data was instantaneous, which I found odd. I switched to 720, and again the checking save to a minute, switched to 1080 again and it was instantaneous. It's the same every time. It seems odd, but it's something to try if this is really an issue for you. Just go to display settings and uncheck 720p. See if it works for you.

guys ive noticed the more charas and saves you have the longer it takes for "checking save data" to cycle thru it all.

i remember when i had deleted all my saves during the recent freezing issue, when i started up the game there was no save files so it went very quick. As i started to get save files, and more save files, and other charas it started to take longer to get thru it.

Never had it take longer than maybe 5 minutes.

Retail version works FINE.....

The golden rule is that you need to know which patch to install first!
Some people never experience any issues, but for those people if you have DAO patch 1.02 install and having "Check Save Data" issue on the awakening, please do as following:

1) Deleting both DAO and DAA game data utility.
2) Disable the network connection on the PS3.
3) Reinstall the Origins (Origins Disc) and install an Awakening patch for Origins (Awakening Disc). (Very important step, the key is to have this awakening patch for origins before 1.02 Origin patches)
4) Get back online and get the latest 1.02 patch for Origins. (This patch is for fixing the freezing issue with PS3 3.30 firmware update)
5) Get the 1.01 patch for awakening. (This awakening patch doesn't conflict with 1.02 patch for Origins, and you need this patch to play awakening)
6) You need to install all the Origins DLC back again if you have them for origins. (Because you delete the game utility data in step (1) which contains your DLC information)

NOTES: Don't touch anything on your saved game data.

I have done it myself now, it works for me. I can play both origins and awakening without any problem...... It WORKS PERFECTLY. :P One of my friendz confirmed it works on his as well.

Please let me know if it works for you.....
