If whoever they pick turns out to be a better actor than Maguire, then sure, why not. I would prefer someone who could play the part well over someone who just looks ideal playing it.

Oh, I have nothing against him auditioning, but I don't agree with him encouraging a twitter campaign that plays his race as some kind of novelty card.

Has anyone seen the movie he was in?

I'm eager to see all the "you don't want Spidey to be black because you're a racist!" comments. Isn't changing a white character's race also racist?

its not racist to want to see a new rendition of a popular character. characters like spiderman and james bond were designed for primarily white, western demographics, decades ago. that is clearly outdated in 2010 and fan's request to see the franchise reflect the fanbase/their desires is normal - not racist. imho



i also agree that it shouldn't be done just because of skintone. i would be happy to see any actor of any skintone play spiderman or james bond and deliver a better performance than macguire or any of the bond actors.

Suddenly changing the character is simply stupid. As someone else said, make a new character, don't change the old ones.

Im fine with a black bond. Bond has been played by so many characters with differing physical characteristics that skin colour is just the icing on the cake. Besides, does anyone hold out any hope in the continuity and legitimacy of the bond movie plots?



Black Spiderman? If the actor is really good then sure. But if he is given it just because so there is a black Spidey then no.
