Just so long as he's a better actor than that wussbag from the previous Spiderman movies, I don't care what his ethnic background is.

Seriously. Me either. I honestly have to agree with you about Toby Maguire. Damn. The world must be coming to an end.

I prefer they stick to the source material.

Whoever they choose for the part, he should look like Peter Parker does in the comics.

Right, that's my only issue. The creator of the character had a specific look in mind when he created Spiderman. (Yeah, we all know it's Stan Lee.)

I'm ok with a non-white person playing the role as long as they fit the character/personality type. If the "black" actor plays the role like a hip-hop gangster rapper instead of Steve Urkel, we've got a problem.

Sorry Busom, but as much as you might be correct about Toby Maguire not doing a great job with Spidey, keep in mind that the character of Spiderman is supposed to be an awkward, nerdy, somewhat wussbag.

I think Tobey got the soft spots down, but he was a little short on the snide remarks and unfunny humor. I'd say one thumb up one thumb down.

The main Nick Furry is White in the marvel universe

Though they went with Samuel Jackson for his role in the movies, and I don't see a problem with that.

Yes, but which source material? Which artist's interpretation of Peter Parker, should he look like? The original Ditko Peter Parker would look different from the Romita Jr. Peter Parker, which would look different from the Deodato Peter Parker, which would look different from the Ramos Peter Parker, which would look different fromt he Wieringo Peter Parker, which would look different from the Liefeld Peter Parker, which would look different fromt he McFarlane Peter Parker, etc. And that's just artists. inkers and colourists also influence how a character looks. And how closely should a live actor resemble an artist's endition of that character, anyway?

And what about voice? An actor can be a spitting image of whichever version of Peter Parker they like, but does he also have the voice they're looking for, or the movement, or even the body type? A lot of that can be worked on before shooting, but there's got to be something to work with. i thought Tobey Maguire was as good a choice for Peter Parker as anyone. Maybe Topher Grace would have been a better choice, i think, but Maguire wasn't terrible until they had him do his emo Crispin Glover impression in Spider-Man 3.

i would prefer to not have Donald Glover be Peter Parker Spider-Man, since I have certain expectations for that character, but if was some other dude who put on the Spider-Man suit and wasn't THE Peter Parker, I think i'd be more comfortable with it.

I don't see why anyone even wants another Spiderman movie after the abomination which was Spiderman 3. Seriously, I think that movie was even worse than Batman and Robin.

Pick a Peter Parker and go with it. Just so long as they stick to the source material. If the source material is variable, then their options are variable.

Take for example Nick Fury. In the movies they've gone with the Ultimate Universe Nick Fury. (Samuel L. Jackson is dressed up to fit the revised marvel universe Nick Fury, otherwise known as Marvel Ultimate)

Stay as true to the source as it is to itself. There's a lot of room for variation in that, but only so much. It is possible to go too far. They could cast Glover, but they'd need an amazing makeup artist to make him look like any of the Spidermans.

I never like any of the Spider Man movies, they where always seem dull and dreary seeming to drag the audience through the mud with Peter Parker. And I'm a little worried that the same director is making the Mass Effect movie, although I love Iron Man 1&2.

Have they announced the director for the ME movie? Please tell me its not Sam Raimi.

I loved Spiderman when I was a kid but those movies just weren't Spiderman. Toby Maguire was fine as Peter Parker he was nerdy and awkward and struggling with the responsibility of being Spiderman, but once the mask went on he never really became the confident wise cracking superhero that Spiderman is in most of the cartoons and comics. Dont get me started on Kirsten Dunst or Spiderman 3 or I will be ranting all night.

Actually it got not-so-bad ratings, it just wasn't has good as the previous ones.....that's why it's flaws show.

Spiderman 3 was the first Spiderman movie I watched so I judged it as it is, not how it compares to it's predecessors.

I thought it was trash. They had too many subplots, too many villains and some extremely lame contrivances like that one dude conveniently getting amnesia and then his amnesia wearing off when the plot decided it was time for his character to be important again.

It was just a flat out bad movie by any standard, not just by the standards of the spiderman movies.

My bad I took that out of context, Priestly did'nt mention producer or directors directly but this is what he said: Legendary Pictures will produce with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni along with Avi Arad (who has been behind great films like Iron Man, X-Men and Spider-Man). From BioWare Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuck and Casey Hudson will serve as executive producers.

Too old? Isn't Shia Labeouf only like 23? How old is Spiderman supposed to be?

Spiderman? 13-17, or in his 20's later on. The new movie is set when he first gets his powers, so 13-17.

I have nothing against black people, I just don't think they very good superhero heroes.

People associate them with crime and whiny foul talk, thanks to Spike Lee and Sixty cent.

Spider-Man 3 is popularly knocked for its emo Peter Parker scenes, but what made it intolerable for me were its contrivances. Harry Osborn seeking revenge on Spidey for the supposed murder of his father in the first movie was the biggest one. In the last quarter of Spider-Man 3, his assistant tells him it couldn't have been Spidey based on the wounds Norman Osborn sustained, and that he knew this all along. At that point I wondered why he didn't share that information early on in the last movie, you know, to give the bloodthirsty revenge driven son closure? Because the plot needed him to remain silent, of course. Feh.

I won't even get into the retcon mania of how Sandman's background played into Ben Parker's death or the way Venom and his suit were handled. I agrree. They had too many subplots and made a mess in trying to resolve them all. The Deus Ex Machina was working on overdrive in that movie.

That said, Batman and Robin was still worse.

There is no difference. Intention doesn't matter in this case. Posting comments like that is enough for a ban, whether intended humorously or not. Consider that a warning. (And the same goes for you, Rubbish Hero.)
