Read the guy I quoted for a lesson in stick-not-in-butt responses.

Hey kid, I spoke based on what I remembered. My memory was incorrect. The guy I quoted corrected me like a friendly and mature adult. Try composing yourself like that in the future. You'll probably have fewer instances of people getting upset with your tone.

Good natured discussion is universal. Being a jack [donkey] is just as universal. Be one or the other and expect responses in kind.

It would be refreshing to see a black person as a protagonist for once. It pisses me off how big movies are always dominated by Caucasians.

I am looking at you, Sex and The City.

I'm part black, but I can understand why Sex and The city doesn't have many african-americans......they don't think their rich enought to live that way...............

Look at Jennifer Hudson's character.......

It's irritating. It's supposed to appeal to all women, and be about women. The only non-white actors in SatC are low-class citizens.

Don't get me started on how they represent Abu Dhabi

Darkmans a cool movie, it looks kinda low budget though, I think this should be rebooted.

*really hopes no one thinks he's a racist*

I don't see it. Spider-Man's a white guy that's just the way it is. Maybe they'll prove me wrong. Afterall, black Nick Fury was a win.

I honestly think the important aspect is the reasoning behind it, and in this case it is driven by skin color itself, which is a racist thing. "Make a black Spiderman so that I as a black person can identify with him" is an inherently racist view, as you are limiting your appreciation of a character based on their skin color. By that standard, I should ask that spiderman be replaced (not complemented but replaced) by Spiderwoman so that I can relate to the character. It is silly. The color of your skin does not determine who you are, and Spiderman's cultural influences are obviously white: to change his ethnicity you would have to change his family, his status, etc; leaving you with another character. So why not make a new one.

Rather than cast a black actor to play the spiderman we all know, cast a black actor to play a new spiderman who isn't peter parker. This way the character can reflect its ethnicity in more than just skin color

Let's try and keep this apolitical, please. i think it's a neat discussion to have, as long as we can keep having it without getting too heavy.

I find it really sad that this sort of thing is even still an issue today. I agree with Fexelea's post above. And really, there are so many aspects to an individual that may define them as a person above and beyond the colour of their skin (which by the way shouldn't really be a defining factor). Do we really need to make a spiderman with each of these attributes in order for all people to identify with him?
