I'm hoping the third is more "light" than the second. The whole dark and gritty thing was alright, but I much prefer the pristine, vast look that ME 1 had. Although I liked ME 2 a lot, and I think it's a better game overall than ME 1, I just didn't really get the same feelings as I did in ME 1. Hopefully ME 3 can bring that back to the surface.

ME3 ending will consist of whoever died at Virmire, Saren, and your dead squadmates from the Suicide Mission in ME2 standing around as apparitions as Volus dance around a campfire

oh good god the sad thing is i can acctually see that happening :(

I have no problem with ME3 becoming more lighthearted. I wonder what BioWare will do with the colours of the game though. In ME1, colours were generally brighter and blue was predominant, while in ME2 things looked a lot darker and red/orange was dominant.

I preferred the color scheme of ME1 by far.  That is one of the things, I missed since ME2 shifted that so much.   It'd be nice to see ME3 incorporate a better scheme than 2

I agree. There was something distinctly soothing about ME1's blue theme.

The music fit with it well too

But Orange is my favorite color, so I dig the Orange, however I do not dig the darkness, in all of my years of playing I associate Darkness with crappy graphics as it was the usual trick to cover up poor graphics was to make the game dark.

I think Casey only said that ME2 is dark is because one of your team-mates can get incinerated:

"I want a really bad thing to happen to those that don't get the Shields!"
"Um... what about making Tali burn alive?"
"... PERFECT!"

Don't deny it. You know it's true.

I don't like this. That's usually a bad sign for the final installment of a trilogy.

Ewoks!

Oh god, imagine if the Reapers were thwarted by the volus.

I just finished ME and began a new cannon ME2 playthrough and for my money, it's ME2 that I find more engaging. The story of both are superb, plenty of wonderfully fun environments to explore but ME2 had the extras I liked more. More LI option, NO MAKO (it's amazing how much I hate that thing), more side missions, easier combat cover system, and more numerous squadmates. The gritty feeling I get from it is so much more realistic to me. Granted there are a lot of mercs, mechs and collectors but the combat improvements more than made up for that for me.

I love both games...but I love ME2 a little more. I'm hoping ME3 will blend elements of 1 and 2 for a balanced ending of the trilogy.

ME3 should incorporate the things they did well in both games, absolutely.

I hope they bring back the light, airy music of ME1. ME2's music pales in comparison.

I respectfully disagree.

ME had some great themes, don't get me wrong. Noveria music that plays in the lobby, Virmire ride and assult, Saren and Sovereign's theme and of course Spectre induction to name a few.

But ME2 had some great themes as well, can't deny that. Samara, Thane, Legion, Tali, Normandy Reborn and of course Suicide Mission and End Run.

In the end of course it's music we're discussing. Can't say that anyone is wrong or right.

They have got to make it darker surely as its going to be the finale of the series, throw in dilema's like the 1st mass effect where you have to make a choice to who you save (ashley or kaiden) but do it for multiple scenarios

make it a choice between tali and garrus and everyone will have a Sh*t.

Is it sad that I already know who I would choose? Probably Tali... simply because I pair her up with Kasumi everywhere I go. The hoods are watching my back. ^_^

I sincerely hope not, because they already did that in ME1.

Something along the lines of saving either the Citadel or Earth would be more interesting.

Tell that to TIMs theme, Miri, Tali, Legion, Garrus, Samara, Normandy reborn, Normandy attack, end run, crash landing, jump drive, Horozine(sp), Reflection and the suicide mission.

The story of ME2 was advertised as being the "Dark Second Act" of the series. I'm inclined to agree, insofar as turgid **** not generally being known for its luminosity.
