Wondering if there is a specific levels for these quest? I decided to do Brec forest as my first stop after Lothering village and my group is level 7 / 8 (Allister, Morrigan, Leilana, Myself-mage and only healer). I have moved to the east forest and have had some major problems.
1. Tombstone:
The Reverent kills my party members in 1-2 hits and the skeletons brutalize everyone else. I keep getting party wipes everytime I fight.. I have tried putting traps down to help but end up being wiped. Best results is I had 2 skeletons at 50% HP, the third at 75%, the Reverent at 90%, and the skeleton archer at 100% hp.
2. Hermit
Same results. Attack the hermit and the great rage demons and get wiped pretty quick. I take huge amount of damage but deal very little in return.
Am I just not doing tactics correctly or are these made for a party higher than 7 / 8th level?
Notes:
I have not applied the patch yet.
I have similiar tough time with the dragon in the dungeon, but was able to do better when I pulled the dragon into the stairs.
Thanks.

Only tried once the tombstone that u speak off. got wiped pretty fast never tried again. As for the Hermit, Morrigan seem pretty impressed by his power so didn't try to kill him. Sorry not much help for ur questions.

I haven't been able to take any of the tombstones yet. I can get most of the skeletons down, but the Reverent finishes us off.
Is it worth coming back later when we're more powerful, or will they just scale to our level of power?

they are pretty easy on normal. my group wipes them out with little effort. with just a basic heal and forcefield.
get your tank to make the Rev angry then pop a forcefield on your tank or on the Rev which ever you prefer. and then have the rest of your party clean up the skels and heal your tank to full health before the field wears off the first time. and get ready to pop the force field on your tank this time the rev will continue to attack the tank even tho hes doing no damage to him and your party can beat on the rev from behind.
i dont take any losses and potions are barely used if at all. maybe only once or twice on the tank if your healer doesnt have heal up when you need it.

Oh that was a Bugger to do. At Level 14 it took each tombstone about 3 ties to finally win and each one is as hard as the other. Most of it is trial and error. The Skellies go right to the Healer first and always and that damn Revenant and his Pull spell is awful. I noticed that f you see him point his massive sword in the Ground he is ready to begin his pull, that is when I attacked him with all my might. A soon as they Spawn (pause the game) (and make sure you have poison on your weapons) have your tank head to the Revenant, stand near your Healer or Mage and take on the Skellies and run towards the Revenant if you see him plant his Sword in the Ground and interrupt him as much as you can and voila. Their may be many other styles to win this but when you have 3 of them to do? It is not easy..........Oh and make sure you use injury kits if any of you died before taking on the other tombstones. Good Luck!

Tough at level 14? Hmm seems that level 7 is too low to deal with them. I'll give a shot one more time trying the FF tactic. Thanks for the help
EDIT:
FYI, found a thread that is useful to my question here:

Does this mean Allister was correct and I should have gone to Redcliff first? Gah

I am level 13 and the Revenants required a few reloads. Normal difficulty. Revenants are just ****ed. I solved the Hermit peacefully though, don't know about that fight. Currently a bit further than that.

A good deal depends on your group set up/level, I was taking the Tombstones fairly easily at 16 with 2 handed War (man char), Allistair, Wynne, and Lelianna as a DW'er Bard/Duelist. Heroic Defense on your Tank as well as aggro management is huge during these type of fights, have Wynne toss up (HOPEFULLY) your Fire Weapons spell (can't remember name), set up Lelianna behind target and have main character keep up debuffs he could via 2 handed line.
