So last night I was playing Awakening for research, and I turned him over to the templars in the beginning, requesting that he be shown mercy. And, even though he would have t o go back to the tower, he was really grateful, which made me.

You...did...what!?
If I wasn't at work I'd post a 'boggle' screenshot ;-)
I can't even bring myself to send him away until the top floor - let alone give him to the Templars.
Whenever I play Origins as a non-healer I spend the whole time thinking "why can't I have Anders for this game? Where's Anders when I need him? He's a much better healer than Wynne/Morrigan"
Oh well - back to the grind I suppose....

LOL It was just a test and all I really wanted was the dialogue with the Withered. Since we can't access Awakening dialogue with the toolset, I actually have to play the game to hear it all.
I do let him go at the first encounter, just because I like the idea of him coming back to help and this:

He comes back if you let him go? I don't remember this, I need to play Awakening some more!

I always mean to let him go at the beginning, but then I think - "five minutes of Anders time I don't get" and bring him along straight away.

Anders is a little too old to be Duncan's son.
As for Wynne's son, you may one day hear more about him. We'll see.
This means he's definitely not Fiona's son.
If he is Wynne's son, I will be annoyed that there wasn't even a freaking hint given in Awakening.

Maybe we'll get to play Epic Wynne like we're going to get to play Epic Lelli. WYNDALF to the RESCUE!

That link isn't working for me...what does it say? Can you quote it?
Someone thought that Anders was Duncan's son from the little "dalliance" he has with a mage at the circle at the beginning of The Calling. Then someone said he might be Wynne's. Gaider wrote back:

Besides Anders is too pale to be Duncan's son. Duncan was half-rivaini after all.Miri1984 wrote...

Anders was not born, he descended from the Fade with Sir Pounce A Lot in tow. He simply appears as so, so as not to blind us to his glory.
Are we starting an Anders religion then? What would the commandments be for Anderism?
Come on peeps!
