Most my longer stories (or stories that will eventually get longer) are only partially (or not at all) from the Warden's POV. Caged Freedom starts off very much all Anders, though about in the 6th chapter I start going back and forth between Anders & my F!Surana warden.

I really really really wanted to make her an Amell, but I'd started the first chapter as a prompt from kmeme, which called for Surana. Once deciding to continue the story, I felt like it would be weird if I suddenly changed her race.

Sundown, which I just started, is completely from Alistair's POV.  I really need to stop starting new fics, and complete the ones I've already started.

Funnily enough, I've never actually written the story of any of my canon Wardens, and only one of them has even been involved with a short story -- and it wasn't even her real ending. Game-wise, my favorite characters to play are rogue Tabris' and Amell's -- but they never get any story time!

Anders for TOP!

@Miri: True. That's my big sticking point... that, and how to work Daveth into the Ostagar bit. Send him with warden and Alistair, have them find each other after... hmmm.

I can logically see him being sent with them. Duncan wanting to keep all the new kids out of battle until they've got a bit more experience under their belts, that sort of thing.

And yeah, any Tabris I do would definitely lack Maggie's bizarre idealistic patriotism and goofy Warden obsession. I don't know how bitter I would make her.

I've got a while yet, though, before AOA is done. Shockingly, I actually have most of the ending planned. Except for when I do random **** in the middle of a chapter since I feel like it needs something and then I'm stuck going "well how will I resolve THAT now?" after.

(I'd like this one much more if it didn't call attention to the GIANT HANDS the human female body model has in DA)

Oh and I just had to repost this as it was such a delight.  Big hands and all.  The look on Anders' face is sooo....ahhhh

Random **** keeps popping up for me in Fractures - it's why I got stuck in Highever for so long working through Anders' daddy issues ;). Originally they were going to stop in Highever for one chapter then bugger off to the mages council but Owen popped into my head and then I realised they'd have to recruit and now I'm stuck with some quite interesting OCs that I haven't done anything with since. Owen might have to wait for the next fic!

I'm toying with doing an Awakening playthrough fic next with my Alim Surana (lots of Anders again) but I've had my Fion/Duncan outline for ages and ages and just not gotten into it (it's set after Alistair and Miranda head off for their Calling). I think I'm partially scared to start it because Neria and Anders will be so close to THEIR Callings - not to mention Nathaniel and Sigrun too, and I haven't decided if it would be too corny to find some way of getting around having to write their deaths :(.

Funnily enough I had very little trouble killing Miranda and Alistair off (although I cried a little bit). Possibly because they had a child to pass their traits onto. Neria and Anders aren't going to be able to do that, so I don't want them to die.

I can't write about Anders and Maggie dying. I just can't bring myself to do it. I actually wrote it out once and it was HORRIBLE. The whole thing, both of them. And Alistair.

I totally lost it. I'm such a goober.

The shame is it was probably one of the best things I've ever written, in terms of the quality, but it just broke my heart. So... no.

So I spent ages deciding a way to end it without touching onto that horridness. I think I managed. I suppose everyone can tell me if I did a horrid job in a couple months.

@Wedger : Probably not, actually. It's almost always some odd minor thing that I could probably just let drop, but things like that dog at me if I don't wrap them up neatly. I did it in the last chapter. Ugh. (But I also set the first steps of groundwork for the next TWO major plot arcs in it, too, which made me happy. And no one knows what it was but meeeeeee..... :D)

I think one will make people... well, not HAPPY, but generally positive in terms of reaction. The other... not sure yet.

It's one of those times I wish I had a beta so I could be all "I'm going to do this, and then this, and please stop me if that is a HUGE MISTAKE FULL OF FAIL"

@Lupus I would offer to beta for you but not for AOA because to be honest I love it too much and I don't want to spoil it :). I can't handle having a beta - I post too often and I'm too prolific and I'd feel guilty and stalkery if I tried - I'd give the chapter over and be hassling them every few seconds "Are you done yet, can I post yet, are you done yet???? How about now? Now? Are you done now?" They would then be legitimately allowed to murder me. Plus which I'd probably go all teary if they criticised me, which is kind of the point of having a beta in the first place. I don't mind criticism after the chapter is posted - because honestly, what can I do about it? But during the process it makes me get all riled up and defensive.
Fanfic is my current addiction (much, much better than some of my previous ones!) and I need to manage my habit myself.

Edited to add a happily naked Anders:

I don't think I could ever actually have a beta. When I really get going I can sometimes put out twenty or thirty thousand words a week (really... for a while I was doing a chapter a day, and my chapters average between five and six thousand words. I didn't even realize until I did the math and then I wanted to faint). I couldn't inflict that on someone. They would stab me in the eye. And I would totally deserve it.
Criticism I can deal with, mostly because I've had some fantastically brutal creative writing professors. In general, though, I find I'm my own worst critic, whatever someone else could say to me is never as bad as what I say to myself.
With the exception of when people complain about the plot lines I include just because they don't fit into their own moral/political/philosophical worldview. That's like my personal berserk button. (When I wrote a short story for a class that had a gay main character and someone in my writing class turned it into a chance to tell us all about how The Gay is A Big Sin That Makes Baby Jesus Cry.... well, it didn't end nicely. At all.)

(And wow... my post on peopleofthedas that I thought would be such fun is going over like a brick through a window!)

Edit to add more Anders.  Because I can't stop looking at this and grinning.

@Lupus Tried to liven up the peopleofthedas thing with a Usual Suspect reference. Don't know if it went over too well.

Mmmm, my Alim/Zev Aimo commission should be coming soon :). And I DOO love that one of yours - it's sooo Maggie!

Ooh, I can't wait to see that. She doesn't do Zev often, but when she does. Mmmm...

Usual Suspects is awesome. I didn't expect people to be so afraid of poking a little fun at themselves. I figured it would be fun! Oh well...

I really love how the card turned out. I suspect it's responsible for my hits going haywire the last couple days, too. It's funny how "them" it is since I'm pretty sure aimo doesn't read any of my stuff, and the initial pics I sent as a pose reference were a lot less "HE'S MINE!" than it ended up being.

I don't know. I like mocking myself a little. It keeps me honest... more honest...

Surely she looked into something of yours, because that is ridiculously spot on. heh

Yes, having Aimo do a commission for you is kind of like fanfic advertising :). Losses went haywire too after that pic came out. Although the discussion on her page was a bit aggressive (they got all narky about the fact that Miranda was pregnant). It'll be interesting to see if Caged hits go up when Alim and Zev come out.

You guys are lucky. When I got a commission done by her, all I got was 'Wait...this isn't Anora?' Maybe I'll have better luck with my next one...

I kind of want to commission her, but I always feel like I'm cheating when I ask someone else to draw Maeve. XD

I like the card she did of Aunn! ugh, people are lame. Just because they have the same hairstyle doesn't make them look the same. I mean, really, there aren't many options in terms of "regal" hairstyles in the default character creator. What should she have- the branka pigtails?

(and I thought you were lucky, she linked your profile right from the description! The only way anyone knows the pic I commissioned is of my fic character is if they read the comments.)

@Cave - mmm. Wet Anders. Uhngh. My brain is going places it should not given my husband is away for two weeks.

In drawing news, I can now draw a sphere that's only slightly wonky and doesn't look nothing like a sphere! Progress is being made! I shall do MY OWN commissions... in about sixty years time :)

Yay! Miri! Don't worry. I can't draw a circle to save my life. I always end up with these delightfully shaded eggs. XD

@Miri: There's nothing on the human body that's actually a perfect sphere anyways, so I wouldn't worry about it. I mean, if our heads were that round we'd all look like Jack Skellington. ;)

@Cave: If you want a card from her go for it. Don't get Maeve, get something else if that makes you uncomfortable.
You should totally think about offering commissions, too. Seriously.

And anders in the rain.... mmmm.... leading me to "anders in a wet shirt" which is a very nice place to visit indeed.

@Lupus: Absolutely - I'm not going into this drawing thing for still life ability but you have to start somewhere.

@Cave: I would fall over myself for a commission from you! I absolutely love your Trouble and Strife stuff - oh, and the "taste" prompt fill from Knickerweasels... *goes off into happy Anders/Templar sexytimes dreamland*

Maybe I can finagle a WYW!style Anders out of her. Anders in uniform... :3 I'm kind of filling my own Tent Party Prompt with the rain picture... which is super sad, but whatevskies.

I can't imagine anyone actually giving me any sort of payment for a drawing though. Random paintings I throw at people left and right, but drawings seem different for some reason. It just seems odd to me that anyone would pay money for my scribbles. hehe

@Miri
Thanks! -blush-
I might have to go read that again. Mmmm.... I got to read that as it was being written, so scarylady would get up to something interesting and then I would have to wait three or four days for another bit. It was the most wondrous sort of torture.

I'd totally get a commission from you, too. (well, obviously since I suggested it).
You should do it!

Plus, I feel rude being all "PLZ DRAW MY CHARACTERS!" but less rude being all "HERE IS MONEY PLZ DRAW MY CHARACTERS!"

There is a fine distinction. ;)

@Cave: It only gets better on repeat readings - although I think one of the pictures has been taken down (from near the end, once she's been paralyzed).

@Lupus: Honestly, it took me about three weeks to get up the courage to ask Aimo for my first commission. Payroo was easier because it was the second time. Mind you NOTHING beats having someone draw them without being asked. That's happened twice for me and I think I literally danced around the room with joy.

@Miri: I keep hoping Payroo will start taking commissions again.

I know what you mean about unsolicited art. The first time someone asked if they could draw Maggie I think I stared dumbfounded at my screen for like fifteen minutes. Which isn't as bad as when I got someone asking if they could translate my fic. That actually made me cry. (granted, I was a bit PMSish at the time, but even so.)

Yeah. It's the one where he is behind her. Photobucket dropped that like it was hot... which it was. XD

@Lupus
I supposed I could work up some kind of price list if people were interested. I would have to come up with different prices for the vector images and just drawings.  hehe I'm already getting random PMs on LJ and DevArt asking if I'm the "chick"/"lady"/"person"/"artist" who draws all the Anders smut. Only one of those was negative.  XD
