Tevinter. If she got out Maggie would have hauled ass to Tevinter as fast as her feet would carry her since it's outside the Chantry's reach.

Or, she would have hunted down the Wardens outside Ferelden and joined up on her own since she had that odd obsession with war even before joining. (although probably in the Free Marches, anywhere else in the world, and then Orlais last on the list)
Actually, that seems more likely. Maggie sneaking out, somehow making it onto a ship to the Free Marches, and joining the Wardens there since she had that crazy idealistic thing going on. And if she did kill people in the rebellion she'd probably want to do something good to make up for it.

Hey, top of page!

(and there's no anders prompts on tentparty catching my fancy.  There's a ton of bizarrely detailed prompts that read more as a request for a long fic than a kmeme fill, though.)

In my head she's definitely a warden. I thought Antiva at first (because of Zev) but you're right she's so patriotic she'd be trying to wrangle her way back into Ferelden so the Free Marches makes more sense.
And Anders severely crushed on her in the Tower and Neria thought she was frivolous and irresponsible.

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed how particular and point by point some of the prompts are.

Oh, I can imagine Neria having a few more adjectives than that for her. ;)

Hm... now I'm trying to think of what she'd be like if she never became "the" Warden.

I'm suspecting she'd be a lot more angry and bitter if she lived through the rebellion. But probably still allergic to commitment because of the lack of Zevran in her past. Hmmm...

I'm sure she would have crushed on Anders, too. Even in AOA universe she did long before actually knowing him.

One was specific to the point of what companions were on each trip. It's like... you know exactly what you want, why are you not writing this yourself?

@Lupus Only AFTER she discovers how badly Anders had the hots for her :). God, I don't have room in my head for all the things I want to write. Because Neria was involved in the rebellion on the other side I now want to do a confrontation between not-warden-Maggie and her, and possibly Cullen (who would SO be beset by TWO desire demons - one in Maggie form and one in Neria form). I have days like this, like Leonard of Quirm in Discworld, where EVERY SINGLE IDEA hits my head at once...

If steam will just get off its arse and start working I could be playing right now...

Speaking of steam... WHY IS THE PREORDER OF DRAGON AGE 2 NOT ON STEAM?!?!

They want me to buy a BOXED COPY? What is this, the time of Charlemagne?

I just don't get it. Everyone loves steam! And I know they do preorders, I preordered New Vegas from them!

I can totally see Maggie trying to con her way in to see Anders in solitary confinement so they could, *ahem*, get to know each other better. Even if they'd never actually spoken. She'd see it as being very nice.

@Lupus: I am so glad I'm not the only one bewildered by the lack of dragon age 2 on steam. I'll preorder the boxed set I guess - but would have preferred steam.

I'm holding off. If they don't add steam before the bonus ends I'll order from Amazon, but I'm going to wait and see for now. I think Steam actually does "prepurchase" and not "preorder," since I seem to remember being charged for New Vegas right away, so maybe they don't want to add it until closer to the release date for that reason.

*delurks*

Preorders (or prepurchases) of Civilization V were being taken since May on Steam, and that game came out in September.

I'm REALLY hoping that DA2 is available for preorder before January 11.  Since I don't live in the U.S. (and shipping things to my country is both a hassle and very expensive), I strongly prefer the digital edition. It's just much more convenient.

I hate how Impulse is taking preorders on DA2 but only if you live in the U.S. or Canada. Not that I want to buy it from them (since I buy everything from Steam), but even that option isn't available to me.

direct2drive and the ea store have the digital preorders, but I don't know what their policies are about international orders. I may get it from one of them, but I vastly prefer steam.

Both the EA store and D2D are also unavailable in my region. I'm actually scared that even the Steam version (assuming there will be one) won't be available in my region.

It's frustrating to say the least.

Charlemagne: Alcuin, honored teacher, what is the meaning of these small colored boxes cluttering up Aachen?

Alcuin:  They are for the latest push against the Saxons, your Majesty.

Charlemagne:  Books, then?  Is this Brother Boniface's doing?  ...of course in God all things are possible, but Alcuin, he is taking his belief in the power of the Word of God far too literally.  Books will be the death of him.

Alcuin: They are not books, your Majesty.  They are amusements.

Charlemagne: Amusements.

Alcuin: They fog the mind and wither the body, like strong drink.  We will provide them freely to the Saxons in advance of the spring campaign.

Charlemagne: Brilliant!  ...this design here, what does it mean?

Alcuin: That the amusement will work on a Windows 7 machine, your Majesty.

Charlemagne: Fool!  The Saxons are devoted to their Playstations, to a man! They will use these as shiny ornaments for their shields, or baubles for their women!

Alcuin: Oh.  Oh dear.  Perhaps there is still time, before the spring, to exchange these and...

Charlemagne: See to it!

Alcuin: At once, sire.

I adore this thread. There are no other thread on BSN as active as this one. And members response to each other's postings so well!

I preordered mine at a local Electric Boutique shop (not sure if they have that in the States). The manager in the store told me all the games are open for preorder 6 months prior to the release date. I've been doing that since Awakenings and there haven't been any hiccup so far.

I love this thread, too. Anders brings people together. It's one of his gifts.

We don't have that store, but I could preorder at Gamestop which I suspect is about the same thing. I just prefer digital or online since I don't have a car and getting to chain stores can be a pain in the butt for me since it usually requires a trek into the suburbs.

I don't usually have a choice, since I have two younglings under the age of ten, treking through suburb on darily basis had become a routine to me. So I try to make if fun by bypassing some shopping malls on route. :P

I'm just worried about transferring saves. You couldn't transfer a steam origins save to a disc awakenings. So...

You can't? Well damn. That sucks.

I wonder if you could fake out the computer and make a directory structure like you have the disk version, and just copy your saves to there.

Just posted a filth filled AOA chapter. After the smut from hell I wanted nice easy Anders/Maggie smut to write.

@Miri: I hope you don't mind I snagged Cave's tentparty prompt as inspiration... but you should still fill it since there's no such thing as too much Anders smut. :D

So I have to ask, what is tentparty and People of Thedas?

Also, late, but I have to jump on the Oghren bandwagon. He's one of my favorites both in the game and to write. I'm all for an Oghren story!!

peopleofthedas is a general discussion group on dreamwidth. Most of the people who post either make fanfic or do fanart, but that isn't a requirement.
tentparty (NSFW!) is the dreamwidth version of the dragon age kink meme. Not quite so anon as the livejournal one. People CAN post anon, but they don't have to. Which I like since, really, I'd rather get credit for stuff I write than hide because I wrote a dirty story. I write tons of dirty stories!

Oh, and dreamwidth has apparently let the community bypass the invite system.  If you go here you can create an account right away.

@Lupus - I'm halfway through the rain prompt but I agree - there can never be too much Anders smut. They're even in the same place - but Neria hasn't got any broken ribs :).

As for the computer stuff - you're the expert there. I might let you try it out first considering I'm such a digital immigrant in that regard. I can USE technology, but I have no idea how it works. Another one of those things (like drawing) I'm going to learn one day.

And People of Thedas is turning into quite the fabulous community I must admit. Although I lurked around Swooping is Bad for ages it never seemed to take off the same way (although they've made that one non-Alistair specific now - perhaps as a reaction to POT?).

Well, Maggie is a special kind of idiot sometimes. I love that we put them in the same place, though. That's too funny. Anders group mind strikes again!

I'm freaking out about my last chapter. It literally has 0 reviews, which is... odd. I think people on the fanfiction sucks thread postulating that I might hit 1000 reviews jinxed me. ;)  (that or it sucked and I didn't notice since I finished it at like four am)
(and apparently I'm in the gutter this weekend since I'm writing Zevran/Maggie smut for the next Blue Skies chapter right now).

I saw SIB is now not Alistair specific. How have people there been reacting to that? I can't imagine someone now being able to post, say, a Loghain story there without being burnt alive. They were so crazy strict about the Alistair content for so long, that's a huge change.

My reviews have petered a bit as well - maybe it's the time of year. And I've read but not reviewed because at the moment every time I try to type one of the kids is grabbing a hand. Hence this response taking fifteen minutes to write.

I must admit I got burned on SIB because I tried to post an Anders story there and got flamed for it - the mod did direct me nicely to Knickerweasels but the damage had been done. Much as I love Alistair, having a comm completely devoted to him did tend to bring out the crazies. (She says, posting in a thread devoted to Anders..)

Yes, but we're not crazy. I mean, we just had a lovely Oghren discussion yesterday!

I just get a "Anders is the most awesome" impression from us, and "ONLY ALISTAIR IS AWESOME EVERYONE ELSE SUCKS" impression from SIB. We prefer Anders but can all talk about the positive points of the other characters, it feels like a lot of people there see non-Alistair content as some kind of betrayal. (she says while writing a Zevran story...)

And I wasn't hinting for a review or anything... I was hinting for someone to tell me if the chapter was a hot steaming mess and I'm not seeing it. :) Since 0 this long after I posted has, well... never happened.
