Or maybe "Ooh, there are MUCH better things to do to them than LICK!"

He also could make a remark that licking his own lamppost is not so funny as when it's done by a 'pretty girl'©
Hell, I'm wicked person :D.

I wonder if Duncan would've recruited Anders instead of PC, what choices he could've made? I'm sure Anders would've destroyed the Anvil, spared both werewolves and dalish, save Connor and Isolde both. But I'm not sure about Loghain. I think he would've spared him too. Because Anders doesn't seem like someone who likes to judge and to punish and to execute.

That's a fun question to ponder.

I'd agree with you I think - he's very passionate about wanting to save Amarantine isn't he.

The only one that might be tricky is the Broken Circle quest.  Templars or Mages?

He isn't fond of Templars is he ;-)  Is it ever stated directly whether he killed the ones you find him with btw?  I must run as many dialogue options as I can to see.  I think he did but I might be wrong on that point.

I don't know if he actually killed them, but I'm sure he didn't mind if they got in the way of one of his fireballs

I don't think he killed them - at least not deliberately. He hates Templars, but he does have some recognition of the fact that they're humans as well - and he's very against killing anyone.

I think the answer about Broken Circle is obvious. If you allow Irving to die or give mages to be interrogated and imprisoned - in this case templars win. I'm sure Anders wouldn't like it. When he talks to Whynne it looks like he admits that Circle is the necessary evil, it's just doesn't suit him to be there. So I suppose he would've saved the Circle. Especially if he went there after Redcliffe, because in that case it's the only way to save Connor and Isolde.

And yes, I'm sure he didn't kill those templars. He seemed so shocked when Rylock acused him, just like: "WTF, woman? Are you insane?! Me? Murderer? Come on! I can't murder a fly!"

Yes, my impression was always that he didn't hate the mages in the circle in the same way that Morrigan did - he just didn't want to be locked up.

Interesting - I wonder how he and Morrigan would get along? She wouldn't be quite so against him because he didn't just lie down and take his imprisonment the way she perceives the rest of the circle mages as doing. But I can't see their personalities gelling very well !

Hmm fair point.  I didn't read his reaction that way, more "but those Templars were..."  ie, kicking him in the head every morning to wake him up.  I am probably wrong though, as I say.  I am prone to missing details sometimes ;-)

I agree - Anders strikes me as fairly easy going but he's no pushover.  He's a much more mature (in age) character than Alistair and wouldn't be very easy to manipulate.  Which I'm sure she wouldn't like.

He'd also be stopping to rescue kittens out of trees - which we know she wouldn't like ;-)

Haha, I love to think about Anders and Morrigan interaction!

Haha, despite that the comic is a joke, it has it's point!

But seriously, I think Anders would flirt with her a little, because she's hot. Well, he's trying that with Velanna, right? Maybe he could lure her into his tent to have some fun. But if she would ask him to conceive a demon baby, he would refuse. "What? Oh no, demon babies are bad! And grey wardens must not cheat in such serious matters. Besides I'm too young to be a father. No, no. Loghain will kill the Archdemon, he'd asked me about that a few times already, I can't steal the honor from an old man. ;) Of course I wouldn't mind to spend a night with you, but I already have a list of friendly maids who eager to join me tonight, you will have to wait for your turn."

Do you think Anders might actually be from Anderfels and hence his name?  Could that be why he came to the Circle so late?

The reason I ask is that I'm working on a backstory for a new arcane warrior character.  She'll have been brought to the Circle late in life like he was, and actually is from the Anderfels.  It got me thinking about various reasons where he could have been when he was a teenager.

 Avilia;)
Addai67, I'm not sure he can be from Anderfels. Codex says people there are quite grim and very pious. Besides Anders has a Fereldan accent :) But maybe his parents could be from there. And Anders may be like a last name or a nickname. Or maybe, as we suggested above, he simply looks like a guy from Anderfels.

(Or maybe it's just a common name)

My dream is having Morrigan and Anders as companions in the same game. I wouldn't be able to get enough of that banter.

EDIT:

Never mind. Addai beat me to it.

Well... the Anderfels are named for Andraste. Maybe Anders is also just named after her, like a Thedas version of the names Christian and Christina.

Ah huh!  Good point .  I remember seeing somewhere that he (his parents?) were/was devout Andrastian/s.  Or did I imagine that?  I can't remember now.

If so, that might explain the name...

He will say that he used to be a devout Andrastian, and, IMO, it comes across as being like anyone who was raised one religion but sort of fell out with it as they got older.

Ah k.  So its possible if his parents were also devout, and the name is as LupusYondergirl says, that's its origin?

(Sorry for the involved sentence there).

On another note - we'd better get some answers about Anders at some point or I'll be asking some serious questions of Bioware ;-)

A whole page and only one pic!? It can't go on!

I wonder what's going on in her "elven mind" ;-)

Well, she looks at him as if she wants to eat him. I can totally understand her :)

A friend of mine has made an awesome picture of Anders, I must confess I'm drooling on it all day long :

I was looking at my favourite picture of Anders I've found here and I thought I must make a poster out of it:

Excellent!

I have a stupid Anders poster that I only posted in the Ali thread, for some reason (maybe because it's stupid):
