Oh, I know his stuff. It is stunning.

Top of page!
Haven't seen this one by Silieth in a while.  And I do love Sigrun in it.

Chaucer was kind of lost to me when they introduced it at my school. Posted Image

Canterbury Tales was done in my Junior year of high school and all I really remember was I stopped thinking of carbuncles as

and started thinking of them as this

It is indeed Thursday in Australia, and so without further ado:

And the prompt for this week is: Claustrophobia.

"It's dark down here. And heavy. And dark."

We all know Anders has it. So your prompt has to deal with it in some way. You could tell us how he became claustrophobic, you could have him being cured of it... whatever you wish! Go go go!

Sarah's post is making me dizzy...
ew.
Wow... ew.:sick::sick::sick:

You know, I HATED the Canterbury Tales in high school. Just hated it.
The first college I went to had a requirement everyone take a seminar in either Milton or Chaucer, and I went with Chaucer since I've always focused more on Renaissance and earlier.
When I took Chaucer in college (even though it was only about three years after I hated it in high school), I LOVED IT.
I don't know why, but I suspect it was because my college professor was far more likely to bother explaining the slang we would have missed out on (since it's mostly filthy), and because the edition of the book I had was much better. In high school we had "random cheap victorian public domain translation" copies, but in college I had a recent translation with a double-paged edition where it was side by side with the original middle English. Translation makes such a difference with something like that if you don't feel like slogging through the original (and I don't think anyone should the first time they read it.).

Miri: Good prompt! Wow, this and last week were great... I've got a ton of ideas already.

I'm a bit amazed that you got to do the Canterbury Tales in High School, to be honest. Chaucer was strictly a university text for me - loved him to death then. It would have been great to have the opportunity to study him in high school though.

And I'm glad I wasn't eating when I read your post Sarah.

 Gross carbuncle is gross. That's going to need a poultice regimen, a full course of oral antibiotics, and a shot. -shudder-

@Miri:
I adore the prompt. I've got a few ideas already. I'm thinking this one will be a drabble and a picture. One of my "100 Things to Draw" prompts is "dark", so maybe I can kill two birds with one stone. ^_^

I know it's horrible to be glad that someone is ill but I've just been reprieved from having my elderly grandmother over to dinner and I'm opening a bottle of champagne in celebration.

Really, the woman is a Dementor.

Also, gives me a chance to work on chapters. Champagne helps those. And try out my new sketch book and pencils - champagne does NOT help those. I think I'm getting better at eyes, though. Will post the sketch I'm working on for the 200 page, unless I manage something better later, which I doubt.

In the meantime: nostalgia from the 100 page celebration:

@Miri: Actually, (not that I am advocating any sort of alcohol abuse) sometimes alcohol can help switch your brain into Right-Brain mode, which is associated with more dimensionally correct results of drawing :) So champagne away!!

Also, very nice prompt idea :) That is one of my favorite Anders-isms in the game, so I am excited to explore it a little!

And ew - thats a carbuncle? *shudder*

@Miri: I think it's a pretty standard high school text in the US. Not the entire thing, just a couple of the books. Most definitely not the miller's tale, though. ;)

And remember, most great artists have been drunks. Writers, too.

(So say the girl who shares a birthday with Hemingway)

@Lupus that would be more comforting if most great artists weren't also as depressed as hell.

@Estral WOOT! Bring on the booze then! It certainly hasn't helped this chapter of Fractures. I feel so guilty about it, because I was distracted by Alistair smut, and it was sitting there, outlined and everything, saying "Why won't you write me? Do you like slashfic more than me?" and pouting and stuff.

Oh no Miri! I imagine having a pouting chapter does NOT help the process :)

Lupus - we actually read the miller's tale in highschool. One of my favorite memories from that class was my teacher attempting to read it with a straight face. Was so great.

Everytime I scroll past the picture I'm nauseous. I think you could market it as a diet device. Put it on the fridge and you definitely wouldn't want to eat.

We read Chaucer in HS, too, but I don't remember if everyone read it or just the advanced classes. I hate to admit how long ago HS was for me. Either way, I'm glad we read it then, since none of my classes in university touched it, even though I started out as an English major

I'm loving all the pictures of Anders & the new prompt!! I'm going through writing and BSN withdrawals, I've worked from 7am to 11pm for the last two weeks, and barely had time to scrounge together one chapter. I need more Anders in my life.

Completely late to the topic, but I've had really good luck with dating websites and met some really smart, nice (and cute! always a plus!) guys. Los Angeles is just too huge and full of smarmy, actor-ish men. Online you can actually weed out the ones who only want to talk about themselves, or can't write complete sentences. I did find out that you should never ever ever put up a picture of yourself at the renaissance faire, though. Just a bad idea, all around.

And, Anders!

Hi, everybody! I've finally managed to read everything you posted while I was away.

Sarah, I adore your Cullen vs. Anders story! It's like a double portion of chocolate cake for me!

Miri, I was reading your awesome sex-in-the-rain in a train, in rush hour, pressed by people frome everywhere and this was better than roller-coaster.

))))

I missed you, guys!

btw, I met my husband on some freak forum where he was trolling, and I wrote to him that I loved his sense of humor. Internet love is real. :)

I met my boyfriend the old-fashioned way- he was my manager. But we didn't consider dating until some website (match.com, I think) sent us each other as potential matches. And our conversation about it began "Dude, I don't know why they sent me to you. I am so not what you're looking for." Six years later...

We did not study Chaucer in high school (our lit courses went Dickens/Shakespeare/Steinbeck/Non-Steinbeck American classic/Saki And Other Short Story Specialists) but I took a Chaucer class in college and it was my favorite English course ever. We spent two weeks learning how to read Middle English out loud and then half of our class time was devoted to...reading the Canterbury Tales out loud in Middle English and then discussing how filthy everything was.

I wish alcohol was helping me write. I've been consuming enough of it, but I have half-finished Anders smut for one story and outlined Alistair smut for another and every time I try to get back into it, my brain shorts out and I just end up mildly trashed and frustrated.

My English class we did Chaucer in was an AP class and then we all went to Medieval Times (except me because I wasn't even in school that day, tragically) and since that was just an AP field trip, I don't think everyone else studied it.

And I totally have something for the GW page 200 theme so I vote we stick with that...in the next two weeks or so when we finally get to page 200.

On reflection I was in AP English as well, which might be who I read it, too.

I've got an idea brewing for page 200, too. :)

I didn't read Chaucer, but I watched the Canterbury Tales cartoon made by our Christmas Films studio, and it was hilarious. I wish I could read it, but it's hard to find a good translation.

I have an idea for 200... lol, now when I wrote it, I have 2 ideas. I hope my hands will stop shaking, something creepy is going on with me.

Yay Gala! We missed you! I hope your hands are ok though - sounds scary.

@Surely you need to combine the Ali/Anders smut - although that can be addictive. Can I bribe you to write with Alistair/Leliana?

I wish I could combine the Anders/Alistair smut. Brand would be all for it, but it might complicate things. A little.

And....Alistair/Leliana? *ears perk up* This has promise...

Lupus, it was awesome. Too bad I forgot my camera and have no pictures :( And we were working non-stop and didn't go anywhere. But you can google Tyumen, pictures there are far more awesome than my camera would've done. I didn't know we have cities like this! It looks better than Moscow.

Ahahah, it has nothing to do with Anders, so I'll put here a Rhiamon's little grub:

@Tank WOW, primitive print media :). I met my husband doing theatresports, back when I was still a smoker. He used to come out with me when I was sneaking quick durries, even though he didn't smoke himself. Bit of a hint, that ;).
We actually carried on a torrid email romance before we started seeing each other officially, though.
@Lupus and Surely Now I've promised you I really DO have to get this freaking Fractures chapter out. The Shades one will be directly after that.

Edited to add: OMG, I've just realised my latest sketch of Anders looks a lot like David Hasslehoff.. LOL. I need to fix the jawline :)

Despite years of watching (the original!) Knight Rider the first image that always comes to mind when I think of the Hoff is his scene in SpongeBob Squarepants the Movie.

I spend too much time with little kids...

Here, have a NON-HOFF Anders:
