@Cave why does the word "dillhole" reduce me to fits of giggles?

@Lupus I'd forgotten about the beginning of Blue Skies, now that you mention it. So really, swap Solona's hair colour and she's pretty much the same. Although I have a suspicion she might be more in the realm of Angelique intellectually... I don't know her very well yet though so I couldn't be certain.

TOP - I seem to get these EVERY SINGLE TIME!

@Miri

Because it's fun to say, and technically not vulgar. ^_^

My grandmother always uses dill weed instead of a-hole, so it all got merged together.

@Sarah: me too. My story is done. Has been for days. New page dance!

@Cave: Ahhh... Raskolnikov. Mmmm. It's the appeal of the tormented bad boy. Really.

I honestly cannot believe how much of a difference the translation makes. And would ****slap Constance Garnett for making me think I hated Dostoevsky. When I just hate her lousy translations of him. (Unfortunately, since she's been dead a century, my dream will go unfulfilled.) At least I had good translations of Crime and Punishment and the Brothers Karmazov.

@Miri: I suppose it depends on how much she was a female equivalent of Anders, as Finn said. Or how little he thinks of Anders intellectually. ;)

@ I get the impression Finn thinks everyone is a bit dumb. At least compared to him anyway. And I'm going to read all the Russians again one day, when I retire probably. Although I might have Dragon Age 15 fanfic to write instead.

Cullen kind of creepied me out in the mage origin. He was this shy, stuttering, practically blushing in embarrassment guy... while he's telling you he would've 'felt awful' about cutting your head off. So he would kill you, that, apparently, wasn't a question, but he since he would feel bad about it I was supposed to like him?

Anyways, back to Anders. Is that a chibi-Anders at the bottom saying 'I like yours' ? :D

@Lupus

Oh, the quality of the translation is everything.

@Liliandra

Yesh. He likes her... uh... kitty... too. XD

Oh, I'm so glad I decided Mae was getting a new hairstyle for Awakenings/Post-Awakenings drawings. Mod-less XBox be damned! Girl needs her long wavy hair!

@Miri: when you do get the Pevear and Volokhonsky translations. They're phenomenal. You would honestly never know you're reading a work in translation.

Also... just had a thought, which I said in a review reply to Sarah but have to share.

I think the general view of the Grey Wardens would probably be akin to how the French Foreign Legion used to be seen in the last century. Super-respected because they're highly skilled and have a generally hellish job. But everyone knows tons of members joined because they screwed up their own life beyond recognition or were escaping some kind of criminal past. Perhaps not as much in Ferelden since they're so new to the country and they went from a dozen guys to being heroes of the blight and all, but in nations where they've had a consistent presence I can see that being the way of things.

So, question about the page 200 prompt...it's just the Grey Wardens? I don't know if I'll be able to participate, but I have an idea.

@ Lilliandra Yes, that was the creepiest bit. Sort of foreshadowing for his bat**** insanity later on I suppose. But everything else he says is just so sweet!

Anders is going to Eat. Him. Alive.

On the plus side, Cullen is probably going to enjoy it.

Yep, it's just Grey Warden because not only is Anders one but they were kicked out of the country for two hundred years.

Angélique was actually not creeped out by this because she had so much faith in her incredible awesomeness that she knew she'd be fine. Caunira Surana didn't get this conversation since, while Cullen was to deal her death blow as well, he never told her because he's too busy being inexplicably in love with Angélique (is it wrong that I think he'd be better off with Anders? At least he probably gets Cullen's name right).

The question of creepiness for me (since once a demon does make you an abomination killing you is kind of necessary although the Harrowing in general is really stupid and reckless) is why Cullen was to deal the death blow. I don't buy coincidence so was he assigned because Greagoir wanted to break him of his mage fascination (but how would that work for males since he doesn't appear smitten with them? He's still more friendly than Greagoir is happy with?) or did he volunteer? If he volunteered as a 'If someone must behead my crush then I would rather it be me than some stranger because I heart her' then that is really creepy. If Greagoir assigned him, it's really cruel and I can understand why he felt the need to volunteer the information as a form of apology.

Thanks, Sarah! That's what I thought, but I was afraid that I might have dreamt it.

Of course, my idea is incredibly sad and pretty much the opposite of a celebration...

If he did volunteer I can kind of see his reasoning as being "I'll kill them since I can make sure I do it fast and they don't suffer," which isn't as creepy. But still, probably not what any mage wants to hear.

Greagoir assigning him to break his crush as a big "remember, they're DANGEROUS" reminder makes sense, in a jerkass kind of way. But yeah, it doesn't work as well with a male mage. Since for them, he's no more or less friendly than, say, templar Bran at the doors.

But who knows... maybe it's just random. Or a regular rotation. "Cullen is on Harrowing Duty for all of August" or something, and has nothing to do with which individual mages are up for their harrowings.

@Surelyforth Hehe, your post reminded me of the description Lemontwisted wrote of Undertow "Anders/Cousland. Six years after the Blight, exiled Alistair returns to Ferelden. If you like Alistair and unrelenting, soul-crushing despair, this is the fic for you! Seriously, SurelyForth is a damn fine writer, but I await each new chapter with equal parts anticipation and dread, and keep a link to a fluffy chaser on hand."

So I'm anticipating your 200 prompt with equal parts anticipation and dread and shall probably read it with a large brandy in hand to drown the tears afterwards.

Am I going to have to write counterbalance fluff? Since I was going for Deep and Emotional and ****.

(hey, I do that. Sometimes. On occasion.)

Sarah says she's got happy in hand. I haven't had any fic ideas yet, but I might try for happy... oh, just got one then, and it's happy... but you know, the idea I had for the lie prompt was happy too, it just turned soulcrushing and despairing at the end....

Hey, isn't it Thursday soon? Crap, I've got a lot of writing to do...

Oh! That's very nice. And it made me laugh out loud because...yes. Pretty much. :?

Thursday's Thanksgiving so I doubt I'll be on but I'll see the prompt on Friday, I'm sure. Whose turn is it, anyway?

@Avilia I suspect we'll be shouting into a dark and empty room on Thursday - unless Gala and Tank are around. Strange, American holidays, sapping the internet of interesting peoples.

We'll have to be three times as interesting to make up for it.

Ugh, I have NO thanksgiving plans. Seriously. I'm going to eat mac and cheese and weep or something.

My entire family lives out of state and I'm already flying out there for Christmas. I couldn't justify doing it twice (and in the middle of the semester no less).

Also, I've spent most of the week researching Shakespeare's death mask and death records and, well, that's some depressing stuff.
