I probably won't have a very fun Thanksgiving either given how sick my mother is. Posted Image

:( That sucks, Sarah.

My family hates Thanksgiving, so we stopped doing anything remotely Thanksgiving-ish. If we even get together, it will be pizza and Rock Band and copious amounts of booze.

ToP?

@Sarah, eek, I'm sorry to hear that. Best wishes to you and her. It's always hideous when your mum is sick :(.
@Avilia & Lupus We could have virtual roast nug and aqua magus!
Thursday is actually my husband's birthday as well - he's getting a lego space shuttle so I don't imagine I'll be seeing much of him for the day. Or much of my living room floor, for that matter.

Crap, 'nother page. Better start writing that 200 fic...

I'd almost forgotten about this magnificent pic of Gala's she did of Neria and Anders... I really should look through my favourites on DevArt more often...

@Sarah: I'm sorry to hear that :( That is never an easy thing.

@Lupus: I never went home for thanksgiving while I was in school either - I found Chinese food to be a comforting replacement for turkey.

@Surely: That sounds like a blast! Best thanksgiving ever :)

I'll be out as well - but will be checking the thread, if nothing else to keep myself sane! Too many little children and too many relatives glancing at my un-ringed left hand. I have an idea for the 200 post and will try to track down a scanner. *fingers crossed*

My family is just going out to eat some time.... at some point.... somewhere... we're not good at holidays.
Anyway, I go to get Fable III and I come back and another page down.
I'm going to have to do some serious scheduling to finish my 200 pages piece and save Albion. XD

Maybe I'll treat myself and get sushi. There's a delivery sushi place in my area. Mmmm... sushi.

Years ago, when most of my friends were still single and had nothing to do on Thanksgiving, my roommate and I used to do a huge traditionalish dinner. Well, a traditional dinner. If that also involved several cases of hard liquor and wine. ;>

Cooking all that? Huge pain. Huge. But it was the only way I discovered how freaking amazing a bacon-wrapped turkey is. I know people act like bacon is a wondermeat, but seriously, that was one effortless and completely not dry turkey.

@Cave: Ahhh... Raskolnikov. Mmmm. It's the appeal of the tormented bad boy. Really.

Eww, sorry, but this guy is kind of ugly. This one is the best. Our class was fangirling madly after our teacher had shown us the movie.  I've found it with english subtitles, but I guess it's a link to a bad place. Will delete it soon.

@Sarah, sorry to hear that, I hope your mother will recover soon *hugs*

I will probably miss the 200 prompt, the thing I had in mind was to epic for my skills and lack of time. And Rhia demands to finish the 1st chapter, she's sick of being alone with Cullen in the forest with no action.

Bacon. Wrapped. Turkey. That's the one I made. So good, I swear.

Anders is acting... peculiar in the new AOA chapter. And has me off looking for my book of John Donne poetry. The dirty ones. Damn my insistence on trying to be at least slightly historical-era appropriate with my literary quotations.
The curse of the English major, I tell you.
(although Donne, being early seventeenth century, is a bit late, all things considered. But I suspect Anders would be a big fan of his. Especially this one.)

@Gala: Oh, I think he's adorable.  A bit greasy, sure... but shoot, I used to have a thing for gutterpunks.
As odd as it sounds, I think he has a really nice forehead and eyebrows.

There are... very few adaptations in English.  Or available with English subtitles.  Very, very few.  My professor had a heck of a time finding any.  The one I linked to isn't even legitimately available in the US, actually.  It was only released in PAL/Region 2 format.  That link is... very, um, informative.
Have I mentioned lately how much I adore you?

So since we've been on the subject of 200 for a few days now...

Lupus, thanks so much for finally pushing my story up to 200 reviews! Posted Image

Happy to! I was number 200? Awesome! (still working on the last couple chapters. I'm multitasking)

The poem? It's dirty, but... well, it was written in the 1600s! I think outright porn would be the sort of thing people were killed for back then. More heavy innuendo than outright filth.

Or the multitasking?  That is more "cooking spaghetti" than "writing smut" ;)

Odd how you keep insisting historical-era accuracy when you hop around several centuries for their culture. :P

Oh, there's a good reason for that.
Literature I care about.  Especially anything before the seventeenth century.
I couldn't care less about cultural anthropology beyond having read The Hero With a Thousand Faces once and knowing my best friend is working on her masters in it.

Phew. 200 prompt mostly done. Some editing is probably required, but I now feel safe to post here again. I was terrified I'd manage to stop myself from doing a prompt by getting to 200 too quickly :)

@Lupus, no I meant my link. I haven't seen what's in that file yet, but I hope it's the right movie and translation is ok.

The poem, I've read it but I guess the language is too difficult for me, I'm at the primary school level or somewhere near that. I need at least 10 more years of study and practice to begin to understand english poetry. Or maybe I will never understan, I'm allergic to russian poetry as well, except some folk stuff which is funny and cute.

We can always try and hit it Wednesday. ;)

@gala: it's basically a long description of a woman undressing for bed, detailing why she doesn't need each article of clothing to cover her, one by one. When *ahem* she has him to cover her. Donne's language is pretty flowery.

English is my native language and I don't understand most poetry.  Symbolism is lost on me - I like direct descriptions.  May be because I've never studied it in any depth though (or I may just be dense Posted Image ).

On 200 - I've finally got any idea for a fic!  Yay - now here's hoping we've all not had the same brilliant idea Posted Image

@Lupus, oh, I got that he was 'undressing' her, I mean I can't appreciate it.

Heh, I had the impression Anders (at least in my universe) would've said that he woud rather undress a girl than read her poetry about it. Saves time for more fun. :)

P.S. @Avilia, *hugs*, yes, that's just my case. My education ruined my soul. You can't understand poetry after cutting corpses.

@Avilia : That makes sense. But Thursday for you is late Wednesday in the US, so it may not be an issue if you're a night owl. (It's only barely Wednesday here right now... 2 am on the east coast)

I don't know, I kind of like the idea
of Anders having a secret romantic streak he never really got to
indulge.  And since he was such a playboy in his younger days I'd
imagine he learned a lot of poems to impress girls.
Plus he's feeling very guilty right now in AOA universe.
